Neodarkside Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 So, I done fucked up. Tried following a guide on how to change NPCs faces with custom made ones. The one I was following was create the look in Racemenu, do a savepcface and then go into the CK and import the face. Did that, except now her face is mismatched and looks totally different. It also said their faces will be black so I need to change a esp to a esm, which suggests wyre bash. Again, clueless on that too. Unsure where I screwed up, either in wyre bash or the CK itself but every time I open Brelyna Maryon in the CK, her forehead has a black splotch and her in game character looks like she has no eyes and her entire face is brown while her body is grey. It said to CTRL F4, tho I see that did nothing. (used this how to here btw http://www.loverslab.com/topic/4277-character-face-import-for-npcs/ )) I'm horrible with the CK, I have zero clue what I'm doing. Took me awhile just to figure out how to find the NPCs. I recall doing this a year ago when I attempted this very thing, I remember the same outcome but that time removing a few files from the data folder and it fixed itself. Question is, how do I fix this? So long story short, 1) how do I fix Breylna? and 2) is there a dummies guide to NPC facelifting, one that speaks slowly and explains each thing I'm doing along the way? (I know I asked this before, I have a topic from 7 months ago I started that someone gave me several links, however like I said, I'm a beginner with CK and don't understand anything its trying to explain).
Andy14 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 CK does not support high-resolution face tints like 1024.2048 etc. If you have such facetints installed and use CTRL + F4 for eport from CK - the dds is usually completely useless. For example: Red forehead is the lipstick etc. I use NPC editor for correction alternatively one can also use RaceMenu for correction. In RaceMenu: New character, same race and same gender as the NPC. Skin tone etc. - the same settings as in the ESP of the NPC. Then in RaceMenu-> export. Rename the exported dds from Racemenu to xxx_npc_id.dds and replace the old dds of ck with it. PS: This is only Fix for FaceTints, not for mesh.
Neodarkside Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 Hmmmm, well, this is what she is supposed to look like, and what she does look like atm. Bad angle but I don't have her as a follower yet and she wouldn't stand still at the beginning. http://imgur.com/uwy6YpJ I also use NPC Editor, and after all this I went and made a look for Brelyna there too, however its still using the screwed up head and face. So I'm wondering how do I revert it back to normal so she's the original look?
Neodarkside Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 Ok, making a bit more progress. Just need to remove the black forehead. http://imgur.com/tLXl2sq Just need to figure out what you mean by adding the .dds file to CK, trying to find how to do that.
Andy14 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Check ALL Settings in CK. All the colors you do not need set on ColorAverage or * ColorAverage. When skin tone does not fit head and body: Interpolation Value is usually the cause. Ok - you use NPC Editor. All settings of the face, skin color, lipstick, eyeliner etc. in CK you should write down. IN NPC Editor you should load all relevant mods - as for NPC. True Eyes etc. In NPC Editor, you select a person equal to race (IMPORTANT) and same gender. It does not have to be your NPC - it does not matter - only race and gender is important. Then enter all values correctly (as previously written). When finished - Save as ESP. I have a separate directory for this. You should not use Skyrim \ Data etc. Then an ESP is generated in this folder and all the folders and files that are required You only need the texture. You can rename the texture and replace the texture created by CK. Sorry for my English
Neodarkside Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 Ok, setting all the color options to coloraverage fixed the large black splot on her forehead, but her eyes are now pure black. I am using skyrim base eyes too, no mods ones. Heres the problem, the CK didn't create any such texture file, or if it did, I don't know what its labeled as. The ESP file I made was named Brelyna - Makeover.esp. I've looked in the folders other guides said it should be in and finding nothing. The other problem is I don't think I am using the CK correctly. What plugins do I load, where do I find NPCs? I found them by loading the Skyrim master and they are all listed there under objects. However a different guide said you can find them somewhere else. Everything about the process is frustrating me and confusing me even more, kinda why I gave up a year ago. I basically ruined a NPC and couldn't fix it and ended up deleting and redoing skyrim entirely. Don't want to again as its a pain reloading all mods and such. Right now I just want to revert Brelyna back to the way she was or just get her to be how I wish and then be done with it. NPC editor is so much easier, just sadly it doesn't support Dawnguard NPCs (Really want to edit Ravya). I appreciate the help however, making progress at least.
Andy14 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 You load your ESP in CK and all the other ESP you need for it. for example Hair, eyes etc. Then edit the NPC - when finished with edit - click ok. The NPC window will be closed and you will see again the Object window with list of the NPC's. Click on your NPC in this list - do not double-click, otherwise the edit window will open. Now the NPC is selected in the list: Enter CTRL + F4, CK exports the head mesh, hair, texture. Save the ESP and close CK and replace the wrong CK-texture (dds) with your texture from NPC Editor.
Neodarkside Posted August 27, 2017 Author Posted August 27, 2017 After 5 hours of trying... about to give up. This is as close as I've gotten. http://imgur.com/4lZQCrC I use The Eyes of beauty, player edition, and The eyes of beauty elves edition. I've added their files to the CK and I still get pure black eyes on Brelyna. I can honestly deal with that but I think I'm just going to scrap Skyrim entirely and start from scratch. I honestly don't want to because that alone is a 3-4 hour task of reloading all mods and tweaking them like before. Next time I mess with the CK its going to be on a NPC I hate, like Nazeem. So if I fuck up, I'll just do what I normally do, Kill him. Been sorta wanting to restart anyways and try different body physics files anyway. Oh well, thanks for the help. I like using NPC editor, works nicely for me, just a few NPCs tend to not work, like Jenassa before has the female body stance, afterwards she reverts to the stupid male stance, even with female stance selected.
Neodarkside Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 So after totally uninstalling and reinstalling skyrim and updating all mods and installing all them. Back to where I was before. Oddly enough tho, that appears to be Brelyna's eyes in the base game, they should be a bit more red. Even using NPC editor and giving her purple eyes, in game she has those ink black eyes for some odd reason. Can't honestly explain it. Edit: and I figured out why, my eye mod kept changing it, I use the Eyes of beauty, elves edition. Removed that and her eyes are a deep red again. Heh, so honestly, I had her almost back to normal a few days ago before I reinstalled. Oh well >_<
