SmedleyDButler Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 I pride myself as being a pretty sharp dude. Can write code all day long without breaking a sweat. Skyrim modding was basically a joke in how easy it is. But geez... The moment I try to do anything with importing anything that has bones/vertices/skeleton structure/etc, I feel like the biggest damn idiot I've ever known. Not asking for or expecting any help. The labor apparently needed has made me decide to back burner a few actors that I REALLY wanted in this game. Might just have to do without Anyway, you talented ones that know who you are. Impressive Edit: I will say this rant. I cannot believe it is 2017 and there is no streamlined/scripted/pre-batched/etc method to do this. That baffles me. I guess because it would encourage "piracy" such handy tools probably don't get distributed much I can't say I know much, but my guess is that it would be very difficult to make a batch converter when games have their meshes in so many different formats, with so many different body shapes.
KoolHndLuke Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Here is a thread I found awhile back- http://www.loverslab.com/topic/75225-possible-to-convert-a-skyrim-face-preset-to-fallout-4/ It should give you a better idea about porting meshes from other games. I couldn't quite understand it myself because still learning. One question though since you may know- how do you change a script lets say in Skyrim that kill an npc and then deletes them from the game? I am trying to keep Mirabelle Ervine to marry and a few others to have as companions.
Yanme Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 I think big problem here is the tooling for nif format. An error in the nif is often immidiate crash or the nif is not rendered at all. No way to debug. I usually have mesh that works fine in nifskope and then crashes the game leaving me wondering what i did wrong. Scripts at least show error messages.
