Hatral Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Hi, I have a problem with editing Elite Vigilant Armor from VIGILANT mod. I wanted to delete Stendarr amulet which is attached to belt on the chest piece of the armor. However deleting this amulet is causing some issues with armor texture. The mod adds 2 types of this armor - Elite Vigilant which usses darker variant of apprentice texture from vanilla Skyrim and Elder Vigilant which usses adept robe texture. Deleting the amulet by removing its branch in Nifskope is causing the armor to use standard apprentice robe texture for both variants of the armor. So I wanted to ask If there is any way to delete the amulet from armor mesh and preserve its original texture properties ?

Andy14 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Check in CK whether there are 2 or maore variants of Armor Addon for this armor. If so, then presumably TextureSets is used. When hierarchy or number of meshes is changed in an Nif, the texturesets may not work properly. Rebuild your ArmorAddons with the TextureSets in CK und Save the ESP.
Hatral Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 I have checked in CK and it looks like there is only 1 variant of the armor called Elite Vigilant. I have also looked for TextureSet but couldn't find anything related so I persume that this armor isn't using TextureSet. As for deleting texture load for the amulet I can't do this because it isn't appearing in CK also I'm sorry but I don't understand what sbp 32 and sbp x is, I'm total newbie Should I edit it in Nifskope or CK ?
Andy14 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 TextureSets are in ArmorAddon, not in Armors. Has the mesh (Stendarr amulet) are slot in the nif - a different slot than the armor? For example 35? Then you can uncheck slot 35 in ArmorAddon and Armor in CK. It should no longer be displayed - even if it is present in the Nif.
Hatral Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 It looks like stendarr amulet mesh is intergrated with chest piece and therefore it doesn't use separate slot. I have made some screens to shows how the TextureSets are looking like in CK. http://imgur.com/a/7iMJY http://imgur.com/a/mjcPr
Azazellz Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Hint: you can set "alpha" field (in BsLightningShaderProperty part) on this amulet to 0.That make this amulet invisible without it deleting.
Andy14 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Yes, you can set alpha to BsLightningShaderProperty to 0. But this is not a real solution, because every MagicEffect/Spell with membrane shader makes the trick visible. How did you delete the amulet in NifScopes? With Del or - correct with Ctrl + Del (Remove Branch)? If it is no effort, you can post the Nif and the textures also as Zip/7zip - and I or someone else takes a look.
Azazellz Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 I do not think that the appearance of this amulet under the influence of the effect with membrane shader is so critical. But I have another variant =) How about to add NiAlphaProperty with 4846 flag and 255 treshold? It also make this amulet invisible without deleting.
Hatral Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 Yup, I deleted amulet by removing branch. Here are the armor meshes. VEmeshes.zip

For alpha of a complete mesh no additional alpha property is necessary. Simply alpha from 1.0 to 0.0 - the whole mesh is invisible. The advantage is - no texture with alpha channel necessary. Shader effects have effect (depending on the type) - whether you like it or not. Also, it is a pure academic question, because the cause of the problem is not fixed, only the symtom. So it's better to look for the error and make the right solution instead of treating symtom.
Azazellz Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Oh, and third variant to make this amulet invisible are already posted - you can change armor slot of this shape to another, that not listed in armor addon. You can make it here Try to use 60 or 40 slot.
Andy14 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Yup, I deleted amulet by removing branch. Here are the armor meshes. Which of the 28 Nifs do you think?
Hatral Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 It will be vgeliterobe_0 and vgeliterobe_1.
Azazellz Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 So it's better to look for the error and make the right solution instead of treating symtom. If you delete this amulet, it will cause a failure in using the texture set, and the two armors that use this .nif will use the same texture. And it is impossible to fix it in nif file, only with editing in CK may help. The author of the topic does not know where to apply the texture set in the CK again, so we give him advices how to make the amulet invisible without the CK. P.s. and sorry about my bad english =)

You can make it here Try to use 60 or 40 slot. You've chosen the wrong mesh - that's the armor. The hierarchy is Armor -> ArmorAddon -> Nif. If is wearing an armor with slot 40 or 60 - then this compliant Nif is pulled out. It will be vgeliterobe_0 and vgeliterobe_1. I'll take a look.
Andy14 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 It will be vgeliterobe_0 and vgeliterobe_1. vgeliterobe_0.nifvgeliterobe_1.nif Only deleted in Nifskope.
Azazellz Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 If is wearing an armor with slot 40 or 60 - then this compliant Nif is pulled out. Slot 40 is a tail. Slot 60 not used in vanilla game and kinda "reserved" in modders community for SoS schlongs. So I don't think he can wear SoS schlong (or tail, if he play as human races) with this armor in the same time =)

Hatral Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 Alright, I got it working by deleting branch in nifskope and readjusting TextureSet in CK. Thank you guys so much for all your help and advices .
Andy14 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Fortunately I had not written that. hust... Well, main thing it works.
