srayesmanll Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 "crashing at startup" needs to be a little bit clearer. Is it happening before (or just as) it gets to the main menu? In that case, usually it's that you are missing a master for one of your mods. Your best bet is to get tes5edit (or Xedit, or whatever they are calling it these days) and run it. If you are using ModOrganizer, you need to run it through MO. It will load your mod list and when it runs into a file with a missing master it will tell you. tes5Edit is good to keep around for these things. If you are crashing when trying to actually load a save, this is (or was) common. One of various bypasses was to start new game, then load the save. Or use the console from the main menu to "coc qasmoke" (look it up) and then load the save. ps: spoiler code is pretty simple. [ spoiler ] put your stuff here [ /spoiler ] Remove the spaces from within the tags (the [ ]) and you get: put your stuff here
deathtome1998 Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 alright so it will load the screen that comes up after the bethesda logo (which doesn't play by the way but i'm not sure its an issue), the one where you would start a new game or load a save, but it never brings up the smoke in the background, nor the options to start a new game/load a saved game. i'm not sure if this helps but i went through when i installed my mods from the skyrim nexus, and after every install i loaded skyrim through skse and made sure that the new game option would show up on the screen, and after it did i would quit and install the next mod

You should use Mod Organizer, it's well, very organized and you can set many tools to load through it such as Wyre Bash, Tes5, LOD generators... There are lots of helpful guides, if you can't figure out the problem and don't use MO, you should start clean and give it a go.

Not sure what that issue is, but have you verified your files via Steam? alright so it will load the screen that comes up after the bethesda logo (which doesn't play by the way but i'm not sure its an issue), the one where you would start a new game or load a save, but it never brings up the smoke in the background, nor the options to start a new game/load a saved game. i'm not sure if this helps but i went through when i installed my mods from the skyrim nexus, and after every install i loaded skyrim through skse and made sure that the new game option would show up on the screen, and after it did i would quit and install the next mod When I had this problem it was a master not activated. "...You should use Mod Organizer" I know many here like MO, but this is nonsense and the statement does nothing to help deathtome's problem. "when i installed my mods from the skyrim nexus, and after every install i loaded skyrim through skse and made sure that the new game option would show up on the screen, and after it did i would quit and install the next mod" Then how can you be crashing? This does sound as though you are missing another mod's required mod. If you use NMM, click the "Plugins" tab and look to see if anything is in red. Not sure about MO. You have a lot of CBBE-based mods, but I don't see a CBBE body mod. Did I miss that or ...?

Just wanted to add that the bethesda logo dosent show up is absolutly normal if you use enb you get a preset skyrim.ini with it often and most contain sIntroSequence=DISABLED.BIK or just sIntroSequence= which disables the bethesda logo video. So as long as you have that line in your skyrim.ini its normal the logo dosent play.

And really, what would be the point anyway? Just so it doesn't play? Seems kinda dumb, but your point is well taken. @deathtome, you mentioned you sorted your load order with Loot. Did you click "apply"?

Did you click "apply"? the point of disable the intro? To get into the game faster of course if thats what your asking? Disable smoke and loading screens is also a good idea. Since you will load areas a bit faster. If i misunderstood your question. then im sorry Deathtome, like people already mentioned. Try out tes5edit. Run it and activate all the esp's. It should tell you if your missing masters.

By what, "X" amount of seconds initially and even less within the game? LOL! "Disable smoke and loading screens is also a good idea." Really? Why? And why are they called "loading screens"? Because the game is "loading"...? So turning off smoke or other "background" eye-candy essentially does nothing, unless perhaps one has "no-to-low" system resources and probably shouldn't be trying to play a game like Skyrim or any other resource-heavy game on that computer in the first place. But many, many people try... Don't get me wrong shawdow866, I'm most certainly not trying to start a fight with you here. People are certainly free to do whatever they wish with their game. I'm just expressing my thoughts on the whole issue and no one has to agree with them.

What are you talking about? if you disable the intro you get into the game 10-20 seconds faster. Depending on your computer. When im creating a mod or working on a conversion i have to go in and out of skyrim as many as 15-25 times or more day. Thats alot of extra time. And besides you get really tired of that intro screen after a few times. I see no point in having it activated when you gain nothing from it. So why not? And loading screens? The reason to disable all those effects and loads screen pictures is so the game doesnt have to load that extra unnecessary stuff. It increase loads times alot. Even more so if you run a really heavy mod setup like i do. And even if you have a monster computer your still limited to the skyrim engine. It adds up fast when you visit a few 100 areas in skyrim. Even if its just a 2-4 seconds. Thats alot of extra time you could spend playing the game instead of watching silly loads screens that serves no purpose. Alot of people will recommend you to do so. Sorry for hijacking the thread. I hope the tes5edit helped you solve your crash issues
deathtome1998 Posted August 22, 2017 Author Posted August 22, 2017 I found out that the problem was the mod dread prison milking farm, it's for dread prison v 3.9 and the newest version on the nexus is 4.2.1 and even in the old files there is no version 3.9 so it was clearly a case of incompatibility
