Wait what?

Really?

No fanfare?

Does it break anything?

Its out!

Nope no fanfare.

No we are not kidding. Come out about 2 hours ago.

*facepalm*

How the hell are we supposed to know that!

The dark side has never tasted so great. It even has a feeding animation!!

Well, I'll report back with basic info on it once the download finishes. The only mods I use that involve heavy game fuckery are Climates of Tamriel, FNIS, and ASX, so I'm not anticipating any large hiccups, but we'll see...

Hmm. Anyone have a guesstimate on the number of hours of play on the thing? $20 is expansion pack pricing but if it's under 20hrs of play...meh I might wait for it to go on sale.

7 - 10 hours(give or take) for each side, depends on how you play

imagine the vampire side will take longer simply cause I get this felling im gonna get distracted and massacre some poor village

I just went on Steam a minute ago to look for the release date of Torchlight 2 and saw it and was like "what the actual fuck?!?!"...brb time to throw some money at Bethesda.

have not finished the main storyline yet so im wondering

should I finish Skyrim first, then get the DLC

or is dawnguard like shivering isles - set in a totally different place

so as not to change the main storyline ?

thanks

Its woven into the base game. You will start having vampire attacks are (I believe it was) level 10, and hear rumors of the Dawnguard. Though I think you can stumble upon the Fort before that.

I plan to actually play it before the main quest or activate it afterwards on certain characters, as while I love the DLC, it doesn't really mesh well with the events of the main quest. Starts to become something of a clusterfuck of threats and story elements. And this is only the first DLC. Bright side is, you can keep it deactivated like a mod until you want to play it, only missing out on a few locations, contextual random encounters and crossbows.

I couldn't hit 'buy' fast enough. Been waiting since the first trailer. Its pricey, but no more so than many (mini) expansions out there, and its bigger than anything New Vegas offered.

I picked it up, boy oh boy did it ever demolish my mods, I went ahead and just did a fresh install and ill pick up all my favorite mods again when skse / script dragons and the mods update

Proto, what mods did the DLC conflict with? I have close to 90 mods installed. I hope Dawnguard doesn't destroy them all -_-. I should probably make a back up of the entire folder, right?

I have 130+ mods installed, some of them are heavily scripts mods too, and so far i have only gotten 1 CTD. Though since i have been playing the DLC didnt have much time testing out if mods are broken. Some obvious ones like the auto unequip arrow doesnt work with Crossbow doesnt work any more.

I'm pretty much not buying Skyrim until any and all DLC comes out, all patches are out and the modding community is fully settled without having to worry about DLC/patches breaking their work. Especially not when something that's maybe 20 hours of gameplay costs 20 bucks; I like to get more for my money.

I can wait; I have hundreds of games I need to finish, so it's not like I'm dying for a new game.
