DenjiXMakima Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Hey guys, I am looking for a thrustworthy "save manager" which automatically saves your game. Since it's not recommended to use skyrims autosave feature I usually saved the game via console writing: save nameofthesavefilehere that is pretty annoying though I used to use autosave Manager but I expierienced some flaws with it and am not sure if it can be used without risk anymore. I set up a complete new playthrough and everything is tweaked perfectly now, I eradicated every possible danger and bla bla bla to cut it short I wanna make sure that nothing corrupts the new playthrough again
Sarge Misfit Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Just tap F5 for QuickSave and F9 for QuickLoad Or, instead of the console, use the game menu by tapping Esc. Does the same as using the console but a lot less typing But, since you're using mods, it is always possible for a save to get corrupted.
myuhinny Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Quick saves are the worse thing to do all the time you'll end up screwing yourself because you'll not have any save files to fall back to if a save file fails or gets corrupted. It is better to off and on to bring up the save option and use the save in new save slot option so that you have a new save that will not get overwritten like it does with quick save because all quick save does is save over the same file over and over and over again and when you go to try to go back to a older save you can't because there will be none to fall back to. Now you'll have save files that you'll be able to fall back to if something happens to your save file.

Even though the OP wanted automatic saves, I have never had them work properly in the long term. Useful for a "catch all" in case something goes wrong like I forget to make a save somewhere or something surprises me but for long term save and sanity, manual saves are the best IMO. Use the Save system in the game or even use the console and create a manual save. I know you want an automatic option however for these games they don't always work as intended. Those autosave programs you find (mods) are pretty good however not 100% and not to be exclusively trusted. Get in the habit of creating a manual save at least when some major event occurs, or when a new quest is being taken on and every new quest marker completed. It isn't the best but if you get in a habit you will have saves that you can go back to, they will be much more stable and reliable and your sanity will be much better off. Will this solve all problems, no. Will it help, yes.
myuhinny Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 @ritualclarity Yes manual is what I was referring to and I would never trust anything that auto does anything because just like BOSS and LOOT they can still fail as well because neither one of them are 100% fail safe.

However, I do use both QuickSave and FullSave (using the game menu to save the game) since you can only save one Quick and you can lose a lot of game time if you mess up a quest or something. So, I usually do a FullSave when at an inn or in my home and QuickSaves the rest of the time. Tapping F5 just before starting a big battle is definitely handy.

TheOrcInHeels Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 I use http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/85409/? to get more automated autosaves. I rely on manual saves from the menu and I make them very often. They have already helped me in a bunch of occasions . When I reach about 20Gb of disk used by the saved games I delete about 5Gb and continue. I am one of those paranoid people regarding backups and... saved games.
Redswift Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Check this one out as well: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/82951/?
Varithina Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 This might be close to what you want http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10594/? You can ignore the changes to time scale and just use the autosave side of it.
TheOrcInHeels Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Check this one out as well: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/82951/? Thanks! I find it very useful.
