Wow, that is very helpful information. You are really an expert on this, thanks.  This project is much difficult than my original thought and I think interpolation logic is the key for this conversion and I can take a look of Python code to see how VMD is imported into the Blender.

The only thing I can say about this is that here we can not do without serious mathematical transformations. Or solve this problem in a completely different way.

 

 

 

You are right, the VMD file use KeyFrames to link all the poses together and filling the missing frames between keyframes with interpolation algorithm. We need to find out that magic algorithm to make it work.

 

 

I think that the details of this algorithm can be found on the web, there is hardly anything secret about it. ))

In the coming weekend, I'll look at a few more VMD files and if find something more attractive than the last time, then can convert. But not yet in the format CSV for DOA, but in the interim format.

I recently saw a script for blender specifically for VMD, does anyone need it?

I looked at about ten more VMD files and the same picture is everywhere. The total number of bones exceeds 100. I suspect that among them there is a camera and lighting, but still, it's too much.
For example, here is a list of bones from one dance file

If someone can match these bones to the DOA bones, then we can right now make the CSV table. Unlike Blender, the conversion process takes a few seconds. But great difficulties with comparison.

Nice job Priess10, you really made some good progress. As far as bones names, I think we really don't need face and hair part. we can just use existing ones from DOA5. We should just focus on the body and hands and that will simplify our task.  I found out the logic for leaner interpolation and it's the simplest one comparing with other logic.  I haven't work on this recently and just try to fix some issues of the body types and add some improved textures to make bodies looks realistic.  Here are the one for Sarah.   

 

PS. Still trying to figure out how to remove the shadow of sweat mesh.

Guys, I've never worked with Blender and do not know if can do this, but if there is such a possibility,  need to load beside a model from the MMD and a model from the DOA and see the correspondence of the bones between them.
And I do not know if it's possible to get the exact coordinates of the bones in Blender. If so, it would be supergreat. Then, even in the absence of an exact match, we could calculate the movement of the bone in the DOA by the movement of the bones close to it in the MMD model

Dogcookie,  I agree with linear interpolation, if this is not enough, then it will be possible to think about more complex variants  Major difficulty in comparing bones

dogcookie, it's MMD model or DOA? You can make CSV?

 

It's MMD model. We have to translate the bone names of DOA in order to work for VMD files. I can convert this to CVS but need some manual adjustments.

It's great!

This is bad when there is a script for Blender, but there is not Blender itself. Maybe next weekend I'll install it. Although if it really takes so many time to convert the animation, I will not have the patience )))

I think right now the only pending issue are IK bones. I will continue working on this next weekend and hopefully have it done by then. 

 

Excellent ))) I decided to leave the animation in peace for now and do something completely different
I got acquainted with the format of OBJ files yesterday and saw how simple it is to seriously change the appearance of the model without the help of Blender or another 3D editors. I tried to do it with an ordinary Notepad and did well. And with the help of digital processing it will be possible to quickly do what is not available to Blender and change the look of the models beyond recognition and I hope for the better )))))))
