HELP! SOS Crashes Skyrim when I load game

Another Edit: Even the new game doesn't work.  Hard crashes the moment it tries to create a new character.

I am using Vanilla races, I've tried FNIS, I have LOOT to organize. Will try other suggestions.....

NOPE nothing works.

Edit: Apparently starting a new game works.  Good thing I didn't get far!

So I've been modding my Skyrim slowly.  Painfully so.  Load a mod, check to see if it works, so on and so forth.  I have finally gotten to SOS, one that I REALLY want, but every time I load it to NMM, install it, and load the game.  The game starts, I hit continue aaaaaand then the game hard crashes.  This has happened a couple times.

I have the needed mods for it.  XP32 Extended I've also tried the normal XP32 and it did the same thing.  Any suggestions? I'm sad I can't use it right now.

Heyo! It's been awhile since I've had issues with SOS, so I hope I can be of at least some help for you with this.

One: Did you run FNIS after installing? I do believe you need to, though I can't remember for certain so try it anyways.

Two: Make sure both the esm and the esp are enabled. (Also, make sure you have your schlongs enabled to actually see them, and if you installed the race menu option, race menu is enabled.)

Three: Are you checking these on a new or existing save? If existing, try a new or older save; your save may have corrupted.

Four: Are you using a custom race or vanilla? If custom, ensure that everything to make that custom race playable is also enabled.

If these don't work, I'll try to think of something else soon; I'm also going through the pains of checking mods right now so I know how frustrating issues can be. Good luck to you!

First thing I would recommend is ditch NMM and use Mod Organizer so you can save a ton of future headaches and if there is a mistake there is no need to mess with the Skyrim files.

Install XPMSE after SOS. Make sure you are running loot/FNIS.

Once you have run Loot look for plugins missing masters.

It would help to have a list of mods perhaps you have a major conflict not obvious at first glance.

I use NNM and have never had a problem with skyrim though I use a older version. First reinstall SOS and make sure nothing overwrites SOS as it comes with it's own skeleton. Then reinstall XPMSE making sure not to overwrite SOS. A crash the moment you try to create a character would suggest a skeleton issue.

You should absolutely overwrite SOS's skeleton with XPMSEs. XPMSE has the bones needed for SOS to function. In 99% of cases XPMSE should win the conflict.

The reason I recommend MO it is a superior tool in every way.
