Anatriax's Naughty and Immersive Skyrim

Recommended Posts

No longer being worked on or supported. A much larger project came around. Keep an eye on the forums for updates.

(IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: this guide is WIP until further notice)

I'm back, though...

And prepared to bring you something better than I did previously. I've spent the last several weeks going through other people's guides/load orders and found them lacking.

What did they lack?

Immersion - Certainly not. In some cases, too much and in too minute of ways to make it worth your time. A mod to give the courier a house? While cool and immersive... it needs patches and special handling when used with some other mods... too complex.

Stunning Graphics - Isn't that always the goal? but c'mon... 500 mods that are all HD textures, many of which need optimized with DDSopt for people with low performance PCs? Again. Too complex.

Weather/Lighting - All guides nail this. Spot on. Because there are only 3 mods you need. Vivid, ELFX, and Relighting Skyrim. Glad to see that most guide authors agree with me on that.

NPC Overhauls - Sometimes way too complex. Sometimes not. As usually we're gonna follow the KISS method, and aim for something that's both immersive and a major improvement.

PC Overhauls - Ok. So they know how to make OTHER characters beautiful. But lets face it, there are some things on PCs that people just miss. We'll get it on lock down, don't worry. Animations will be gorgeous, as well as even just the base presets from Skyrim (usually what I use, with some MINOR tweaks).

Ok so we talked about what is going on in EVERYONE else's guides, and my problems with them. I think it's time that we get it going with this guide, yeah?

Part of the motivation for refreshing my guide is making a feature filled and pretty game, that will run quite smoothly while making videos and streaming. It seemed, with my system, that was not capable with other guides.

LET'S GO!!!

Installing Skyrim  - This is where it all starts...

First I want you to delete EVERYTHING in your data folder EXCEPT the .bsa files.

Next you will go to your games library, right click on Skyrim, go to Properties > Local Files > Validate
This will reacquire untouched copies of the .esm files, as well as some others that can be corrupted by previous mod installations.

Run the Launcher through Steam to generate generic .ini files.
Open Options, then select your resolution and aspect ratio. Click Ultra. Then Save and Close. Close the launcher.

Time to open the toolbox!

First and foremost, you MUST have Mod Organizer to follow this guide. (or any guide really, unless you're modding Oblivion. Then MO is just stupid.)
https://github.com/TanninOne/modorganizer/releases?after=v2.0.1a

Pick a version. Doesn't really matter, as long as it's 1.3.8 or later (that's what I use. I found a few bugs in 1.3.10/1.3.11)

Mod Organizer is pretty decent out of the box, but we want to do a few things before we move on.

1) Open Mod Organizer and go through the tutorial (if you've never used MO before) or skip it (if you have a degree).
2) Click the Wrench and Screwdriver along the top.
3) Under UI I set my own download location, as well as use Compact Download Interface. Downloading Meta Information is almost mandatory.
4) Click the Nexus tab and log in.
5) Under Plugins set the .ini editor to External True.
6) Under Workarounds make sure that Steam App ID is 72850 and NMM Version is 0.63.0. If not, change these values manually.
7) Click OK and close MO

Setting up your Profiles:
1) Click the ID Card across the top
2) Highlight the Default profile and click Remove
3) Create a new profile named "Vanilla Skyrim"
4) Click the boxes for Local Savegames and Automatic Archive Invalidation
5) Close
6) Close Mod Organizer

SKSE - Follow this guide by my good friend RC. He'll guide you through the steps to properly install SKSE through MO.
http://www.loverslab.com/topic/35697-tutorial-mod-organizer-installation-of-skse-v1/

TES5Edit - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25859/?
Install through MO, ignoring missing data when asked.
In the right pane, click the data tab, find TES5Edit.exe, right click, and add as executable.

Wrye Bash - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1840/?

Newest version is .307 as of this guide. Installer should install it directly into Skyrim's main folder. (the one with TESV.exe)

Merge Plugins - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/69905/?

Useful tool. Especially when saving space bc your dressing room is too big (like mine).

Relinker - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/77959/?
Usefull tool. Especially if you decide to deviate from this guide, and add a million script heavy mods. We won't be using it much, though. Maybe once.

PapyrusUtil - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58705/

DynDOLOD - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59721/?
Go ahead and grab this, but we won't install or run it until the last phase of the guide.

Fixing a lot of Vanilla shit that I don't like.

So I have a lot of problems with Vanilla Skyrim. Including texture optimization and all kinds of stuff. The next group of mods are essential to making a lot of the vanilla elements of gameplay better, more fleshed out, harder, or just plain fixing them.

Was looking at getting back into skyrim, was gonna start fresh on mods, this seems perfectly timed for me.

In the mean time, my guide on NSFW has been untouched (except the update post). I'm mostly taking from it with a few minor changes. Easily made if you're using MO as the guide requires.

Fair enough, might give that a look. Is Mod Organizer mandatory? I know it gets a lot of shit but I'm very much acquainted with NMM, even if it has led to me wrestling with it at times.

Mod Organizer IS mandatory, because it has some very crucial tools to the process I'll be using.

So... I give up. My current machine cannot do what I want it to do.
I'm instead going to refer everyone to SR:LE LOTD on STEP Forums. It's immense, covers everything I would, and has custom built patches for the load out.

My focus will be shifting to creating a new worldspace for Skyrim SE. (which oddly runs flawlessly on my machine, while Oldrim runs terribly... no matter what I do).

This worldspace will attempt to be as lore friendly as possible, but also will probably not take place on Tamriel. Unless a loremonger is willing to collaborate with my story and help figure out a place it could go.

I WILL eventually be asking for help in this project. So if anyone has interests in creating new weapon and armor models, it would be an awesome contribution.

MOST of the recruitment for this project will come from here, or NSFWMods. The new worldspace WILL require the user to have Bodyslide, which body doesn't matter, because we will be making bodyslide files for both CBBE and UUNP; however, I do NOT want to leave the burden of converting our armors to these formats on modders. I want it to already be done.

I'll make a post and leave a link to the development thread, once I have more details worked out.

To everyone that has used my guides in the past, thank you. I've been inspired to shift my focus. I'm sorry to leave you hanging, but I promise... I'm picky. This quest addon will be amazing :)
