Advice on making costume/character mods

Hi all!  I'm a veteran modder (like, very veteran - started back in Doom/Quake days, did Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, etc) and after about a week of leeching from all the great mods here and on Zeta and DeviantArt, I'd like to actually contribute.

In typical fashion, I'm going to be overly ambitious - rather than start with simple stuff like a smart person (modify some existing costumes), I'd like to either:

Rip models from another game and bring them into DOA5

OR

Bring some of my original characters into DOA5 (some pretty kinky stuff, see below).

I'm sure I can pick it up, I've been a professional game dev for about 20 years, so lay it on me - how do I get started here?  Any advice from any veterans like @LGMODS or @huchi001 or @SaafRats?

Some of the models I've done of known characters that I'd like to bring into DOA:

Some of my original characters/costume kitbashes I might want to port (warning, more kinky stuff below):

Any volunteers to teach me the ropes?  Even if there's a decent step-by-step guide out there somewhere you can point me to.

I do my work in Poser Pro, I should be able to export to Blender (I know some stuff will probably not export very well, but I can try), though I've not used Blender much at all.  But from there, I have no idea what to do...

Thanks!

Hmm, well those are the same tutorials I've already seen - all of them involve modifying existing costumes and putting them back in the game.  That's not what I'm trying to do.  I'm trying to bring original models into the game for the characters.  It's more like what people do when they add someone like Deadpool or Batman or Harley Quinn or Ciri some other complete model swap to the DOA5.

Does anyone know of a tutorial or guide for that sort of thing?

Thanks!

Well, mostly of modders here use material from the game itself, and you want port full models, it'll be hard to find a full tutorial, so why don't you ask directly to SaafRats LGMODS or huchi for their advice or techniques?

As long as you can export those meshes or object models into the 3D model software such as Blender, then you can insert them into TCM.

I am not expert on model import. But I think the process will involve the following steps.

1. Create TCM object with object tool.

2. Import mesh with TMC insert tool.

3. Import texture with texture tool

Interesting, I wouldn't think it would be that easy/portable, but I can try it, thanks.

Yeah, I didn't want to bother they directly.  I figured if they were interested in helping someone, they'd respond to the thread if not, they wouldn't.  That way they don't have to say no to my face.  :)  But maybe I should contact them on DA...

I have ported a lot of stuff from deviant art from the DOA series to skyrim and most of the ones that I worked with were in xps/ascii/.mesh format but I think for the actual DOA games they use a different format as I think I tried porting some of the stuff before but ended up throwing the stuff away as I couldn't find any way to import/export them into blender.

But if you can find a way to port mesh into blender modify them and then export them back out in the correct format it would help you but not sure if there is a way or not.

It's much easier if you can find an exiting TCM with similar mesh structure.  Sometime you have to transfer weight to the new mesh. As I know only few can do the full model import here. As Bunny said, your best approach will be to contact SaafRats, LGMODS, Huchi for help.  Good luck and I really want to see your wonderful models come to DOA5. Let me know if you need more information, I will try my best to find answer for you.
