ENB Trouble after Updating to new Graphics Card.

So i updated from my GTX 760 to a GTX 1070 and when i first opened skyrim it looked fine, to the point where i freaked out because it was running too smoothly. But after restarting it starting stuttering and my framerate dropped, i even have trouble in towns, anyone have this happen or know how i can fix it. I'm currently using Project ENB, my RAM is still 8GB as well. I'm not sure if i need to change an ENB setting either.

Did you uninstall the old drivers (using a tool such as Display Driver Uninstaller) and install the newest driver?  If not, do that first.

 

Second, delete/backup your Skyrim.ini/Skyrimprefs.ini and recreate it.  You can "optimize" some things with the Bethini tool on the Nexus, and makes tweaking the inis quite simple.  Setting the Shadow Resolution from 4096 to 2048 will give you a nice performance boost, very noticeable in towns and cities.

 

With Bethesda's Gamebyro/Creation engine games, there comes a point there the GPU doesn't affect performance very much and it all depends on your CPU, so keep that in mind.  Your FPS problems may just be normal engine performance problems with towns and such.  It is quite common.

 

Also, the newer Nvidia drivers and ENB may conflict, causing the loading screens and ingame map to flicker.  Keep that in mind so you don't freak out and think your card is defective

I highly recommend using ENB FXAA SweetFX Manager and Remover

It makes installing, testing and removing ENB and presets super easy.

 

Run the program, use the remove function, it will strip out all your previous ENB and .ini files

Drag the files you want to use back into the skyrim directory, set/save a profile and that config is saved.

 

You can do this for a number of ENB types, add in effects, play around until you find the one you really want to use.

 

Program (it's an application) works with Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Fallout 4 and other Bethesda games.

 

Also make sure in your enblocal.ini that you set the memory to at or  just below what your graphic card has.

e.g for 1080 gtx 8g

Well what's weird is i started the game before and was not getting any low frame rates with this card, it happened after i restarted.. I'll try that Bethini tool.

If you are on Windows 10, make sure VideoMemorySizeMb is 4064. That is the max DX9 games can do for vram on Win10.

Depends on enb dll.In enb [input] UI there's new fps limiter [KeyBruteForce] on B key.So first see what keys are mapped in ENBLocal.ini

When you update your driver, you should use DDU to get rid of the old one first.

So as i stated before, everything was fine until i upgraded. What's weirder is there was no Stuttering until i restarted my computer, so something happened when i restarted it, just don't know what. Now it affects all my games, not just Skyrim.

Reinstall your drivers as Windows may have decided to update them and installed the incorrect ones. Also, make sure your PC is set to use the video card and not any on board gpu as it may have switched over to it (if you have one).

Okay so after looking around, ALL of my games are stuttering, not just skyrim, FUCK!

Try looking at your power options* and make sure windows hasn't switched to "Power Saver" mode.

Mine has done that on it's own a few times.
