Mashi Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 I've never played Baldurs Gate 0.0 *covers head in fear of being mobbed* But I plan on soon. Is it truly as good as they say? Is it still enjoyable today even compared to the newest games? The game is great. Though you might find the game a bit dated in the graphics department, if you do. You might also find that the original BG is crash city, or simply won't run if that's the case, use BGtutu found here: http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php?option=content&task=blogcategory&id=143&Itemid=98/ It requires a copy of BG2, what it does is run Baldurs Gate on the updated Baldurs Gate 2 engine.
gregor_y Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 But I plan on soon. Is it truly as good as they say? Is it still enjoyable today even compared to the newest games? Let me put it this way the new games are crap in every department except graphics.Honestly any interesting games in 2011/2012? Nope. So if you value gameplay over shiny stuff you will love Baldur's Gate. It requires a copy of BG2' date=' what it does is run Baldurs Gate on the updated Baldurs Gate 2 engine. [/quote'] If it requires both BG1 & BG2 he would be better off with Weidu trilogy mod than TUTU. Edit: Ehh Screaw it instead of buying BG i did buy Planescape Torment since i diden't play it yet(shame).Installed resolution mod and new interface + other small mods fixing and improving but not changing vanilla fell of the game.
threeddd33 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I'm not sure how many have read about this, but a Planescape sequal called Torment: Tides of Numenera is appearently being done by the same people. Edit: Glad to have them continue it before everyone who played the original dies of old age.
Contessa Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I've never played Baldurs Gate 0.0 *covers head in fear of being mobbed* But I plan on soon. Is it truly as good as they say? Is it still enjoyable today even compared to the newest games? Yes. Shadows of Amn + ToB is generally considered the apex of RPG's. 2D top-down perspective but the amount of depth in the interactions of your party and the multitude of NPC and quest mods out there is astounding once you get through those two. On a personal level SoA has the coolest bad guy I've seen in a game. Just opinion though! I can't speak for BG1 + Tales of the Sword Coast, sadly I could never find it.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I've only ever played Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance for the GBA.
polluxval Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 i used to play baldurs gate 2 shadow of amn and its exapnsion. but i prefer temple of elemental evil. 3.5 ftw.
FallenWarrior Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Baldur's Gate 2 and it's expansion brings back lots of fun moments. Specially with a few mods added
GSBmodders Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I do not want for anyone to mess with and ruin the BG series. For those like myself who have played them when they were cutting edge the bg series is a master piece on par with the mona lisa. Touching it up and enhancing it now can only cheapen the game and my memories of it. My character walked off into the sunset with Jaheira and that is how I forever want to remember the end.
Eradawn Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 The good thing is the Enhanced edition of Baldurs gate 1 , the Enhanced edition of baldurs gate 2 was stopped in development , because of atari copyright. I hope beamdog and atari can solve this copyright problem .
GECK.O Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I think...we should not expecting Baldur's Gate 3. Well...Baldur's Gate is over. If someone want to release Baldur's Gate 3, it will not as good as Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. It will just lousy RPG using the Baldur's Gate title for marketing only! Beside the experience that you enjoyed in BG 1 and 2 won't be repeated again in BG 3, as old school RPG and modern RPG are already very different. The closest experience of Baldur's Gate 3 is probably Bioware's Dragon Age.
