Baldurs gate III supposed to be released but got cancelled...

 

 

 

"Baldur's Gate III has been our long-term goal," Overhaul Games chief operating officer Cameron Tofer said. "We have a lot of things to put in place before such a project can be launched. So currently there is no such project but that's the one we want to do. Our thoughts have been that Enhanced Edition for [baldur's Gate] and [baldur's Gate II] just make sense before there's any Baldur's Gate III."

 

 

 

 

 

As for how Tofer hopes to get Baldur's Gate III off the ground, he said using fan-funding service Kickstarter would be an effective course of action.

 

"We're totally thinking Kickstarter," he said. "It just makes so much sense and solves so many problems. I think what Brian [Fargo] is doing with Wasteland is very interesting."

 

The Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for Wasteland 2 reached its goal of $900,000 in just two days, and as of press time, it stands at over $1.37 million. That game is scheduled to arrive in October 2013.

 

The most high-profile Kickstarter game fund was Double Fine's campaign for its Double Fine Adventure game. In a record eight hours, the studio reached its $400,000 goal, ending last week at $3.3 million.

I love the Baldur's Gate series. For me it will always be the greatest, deepest and most epic RPG of all time. I don't know what I should think of the "Enhanced Editions" they're going to make. They may be good games when they're finished, but I'm afraid that the whole feeling of the old games will be completely lost and that they won't be the real Baldur's Gate I know and adore.

And for a third part; there's no way they can continue the old storyline without making it feel "forced". They would have to come up with something completely new but then it wouldn't be Baldur's Gate anymore as well. So I think that Baldur's Gate is perfect as it is and shouldn't be taken out of its grave.

I remember playing dark alliance for ps2, and thinking this isn't baldurs gate... but you know dungeon siege 3 was crap, and diablo 3 just didn't live up to my expectations. So I would even take another dark alliance game over not having one at all.

I'm a huge fan of the saga, I still remember when I bought the 1st one years, years ago (still young at that time).

 

A real game, truly deep story but the ending of throne of Bhaal (which makes me think I still have a game to continue (Tutu inside)) shouldn't let them make any more addition or else it should be without links to the dark heriitage that has been so important till then.

 

BTW; mods exist that allow you to play the 1st with the engine of the 2nd and the whole story (1+exp+2+ToB) as 1single game.

It's one of the few games+mods combo I keep on every computer and that I share with friends, spread the fun.

(Kensai in the Sword coast is hard but so good when mastered)

indeed games like " king lionheart " if you guys ever heard has the same elements like baldurs gate both are respected on the story line wise other then that these both of games are very underrated ..

The Baldur's Gate saga is pretty much the only game which really moved me. I mean, whenever I play the whole series which means part 1 + addon + part two + addon with a single character and finish the last battle... i feel totally empty. My character and all his followers (Jaheira you hot bitch!) have reached their destinies and the story comes to an end. There's nothing more to do... and I feel empty. As if a part of me had been torn out. I've never played a game where I had a similar feeling that was that strong.

I was making portrait pack for BG before I play TES4, then I forgot this thing.

BG2 was one of my first RPGs and it really caught me.

i never made it past irenicus in the last chapter... those "magic maze" spells and "secret word: Death" killed my whole party in seconds

the story is emotionally binding you to your character and its really deep.

the places look vivid and everything in the game is in lore and very detailed.

sure the game always promised you could carry your character to the next part, which never got released -> then Neverwinter Nights got released and had the new D&D system and 3D - i played it and even modded for it, but it didnt have the same dark and deeply involving feeling. i found easytutu and played BG1, BG2-TOB.

i wish someone would just remake this game in every sngle detail in 3D and a little more adult ^^.

Actually im happy with TOB endings.

 

I remember i did replay from begining as Wild Mage from level 1 funny thing when i finished BG1 i was level 18 so i preaty much steamroll over everyone in BG2 & TOB.

 

Still i just love this game it's perfect in every way.

 

Ok to lazy to manually install mods is there some mod pack for trilogy?

there's just this easytutuwhich isnt hard to install. and about mods... its easy too just copy to the game's "override" folder and everything will work.

Baldurs gate and BG2 were great games. I enjoyed them both, I also really enjoyed PS:Torment, they were probably the three greatest games I ever played. I was heavily involved in the BG2 modding community for a very long time, and was part of the PC lichdom mod for BG2. Which would let evil aligned PC's become a lich.

my ex-gf threw nightwinddale away instead of giving it back to me - just because she thought it was a gift to her...

it was part of the blackisle compilation box... bg1+2+tob nwd1+2 and some other game.

so its part of a rare collection and i might never again get that game in that collection.

Still for bg1 i did pay hm 40$? later on they released in my country BG Saga BG + BG2 + expansions for 9.99$ and that's not digital copy but box one.

 

And for the record my cd just did die no scratch on it cd like dvds die sooner or later.

Well you can always petition atari for a disc replacement, though you'll pay more in shipping costs for a replacement disc. Around $20 just in shipping. Unless you live somewhere, where downloading a copy off the intertubes is legal as a backup measure(like where I live). That's why I said wait for it on sale, it does go on sale often enough, and regularly.

 

That enhanced edition? Maybe we'll be lucky and it'll be something special. But considering all of the original art was done with palette's and sprites, it would be painful at best to redo it all. I remember the pita we had working on those, and then there's the scripting language for it. Terror and chills man...terror and chills. More than likely, it'll be a simple engine update with some 3d vector updated graphics and animations.

That's their entire point of 'enhanced graphics' and what they want to do. But to be honest, you can get the game running fine under BGTutu with almost no work at all. And bring it up to snuff and allow you to use kits as well.
