Xaqq Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 I just bought a 3000 dollar custom built computer from Digital Storm and I'm looking to go insane on my skyrim. So what is the most PERFORMANCE heavy:ENB Grass mod textures weather mod water mod etc. I want to see how far I can push this rig. thanks.
Guest Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Sadly Skyrim cannot be pushed too far. It is an old 32bits engine with memory limitation. Also if you add the ENB patches to use a different ram space, you will be always limited to 3Gb for the game and something similar for the VRam. With just an old GTX 980 you never go below 60FPS. Try Skyrim Special Edition in case you want to push it more.

I wanna try both however I can. do you have any recommendations for regular Skyrim though? Edit: do you think windows will fix this memory limitation issue? is there a way to fix this at all?
Lodakai Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 There are really a vast number of different ways to overhaul your visuals. If you need a little guidance, Step has a few good pointers http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9.2 Although I must note that most people have their own preferences and even step has some things you may want as well as those you may not want. For weather.. Some ENB's have their own specific weathers included and you may not want to use a weather mod with those. Be sure to review the recommendations on the ENB you chose. (ENB/Weather/lighting perform some of the same functions.. so you should see how they relate to one another. The ENB authors will usually offer guidance) Be selective.. do not include anything you do not want.. and even then.. ask yourself 3 times if it will really improve the game for you. The more mods you have.. the more time you are spending trying to fix your game. Even with a high performance rig, many people make the mistake of thinking... ALL RIGHT! Now I can add EVERYTHING! Muahahaha... nope. Sorry.. it won't work right. Skyrim loves to break. Test your game often when adding mods. Try 10 at a time.. see if it looks and works right for maybe 30 minutes of play. Use alternate start and make many non dovahkiin characters who you intend to kill off and delete their game. As far as the limitations fix for Oldrim (non SSE skyrim).. well SSE IS the fix for that.
MsOtaku Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Skyrim Ultimate Modding Guide is fantastic and gives you a lot of options to make your game look stellar. This is not for SSE so you can add the SexLab frame work and all the goodies that use it. Hope this helps.
znaroks Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Edit: do you think windows will fix this memory limitation issue? is there a way to fix this at all? If you are using an ENB, there are some nifty tricks that can work around this, check out this guide For example, I set my VideoMemorySizeMb to 25440 (I got the figure with VRamSizeTester and took away 2048 as the guide suggested) game got way faster and smoother. Use this guide together with the Skyrim Ultimate Modding Guide posted above and you can push your skyrim as far as possible.

I ended up using tetra chomatic enb and it looks fucking amazing. also Anyone know what the best ENB for showing of skin textures/translucency of skin? And is there an ENB even more saturated with color than tetrachomatic?
Lodakai Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Mirage is pretty heavily saturated. But Tetrachromatic is really much better... because it makes use of custom ENB weathers. That author has put a lot of work into making it. Snapdragon might be a good one for character photos.. because of the way it uses DOF that highlights the character.. but for gameplay.. Tetrachromatic or spectrum would be my choices
27X Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 You can fuck Skyrim's framerate pretty much instantly by setting ENB to use AO and SSIL at 1:1 for 8K environment textures, no grass or anything else needed. Or just use this for lighting. Instant framerate be gone. Without custom ENB 270-300 fps with no vsync (incredibly bad idea) With custom ENB, 60 fps outside, 60 inside, because inside always has more light source and thus casts more shadows, the thing that neither Skyrim 32 or 64 in actually very good at, add ambient illumination on top, instant framecrush. also given your track record in the pls halp section, maybe cramming 5000 mods at once into your LO is not a particularly bright idea.

So how does customizing ENB AO work? I hav both checked marked and i'm still running at an average max 60 fps with stuff like flora overhaul/verdant with max grass desnity etc. One thing I wish I could see more of is more obvious AO especially on characters and more subsurface scattering on character skin for that translucent skin look/detail. Any idea how to get that? edit: here is a few screenshots of what my skyrim looks like atm.
Xaqq Posted March 19, 2017 Author Posted March 19, 2017 this provides a basic overview ye i figured that out. But is there an in depth explanation anywhere on how to tweak subsurface scattering effects so i can get those crazy detailed skin texture effects that I see people get in those character screenshots?
Terrarium Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 You could also fiddle with your ini files. Set your shadows at max resolution (I thnk it's 8k), set rendering grass, 3D trees and objects as far as you can. Use DYNDOLOD, textures from pfuscher, some lighting (ELFX) and weather (Vivid weathers) mods. Use High Poly Project, SMIM, aMidianBorn Book of Silence (armor retex mod) and Rustic Clothing (clothing retex mod). I use just half of these and my GTX960m (laptop card) chokes in Solitude and other cities (I have heavily modified cities with LOTS of clutter and NPCs). As for making the game more stable, use these: - SKSE memory patch (mentioned in previous posts) - ENB memory patch(mentioned in previous posts) - USLEEP Crash Fixes Bug Fixes Safety Load Continue Game no Crash Vanilla Mannequin Script Fix
