C5Kev Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 This is rather weird. As of late, every time at Dustman's to do the 2nd Companion quest, when Farkas goes to open the bars, my game hoses. This has never happened before and natch, I have no idea as to why this is happening now. Currently I basically have only Defeat, SLEN, and SL Kidnapped running and those shouldn't have anything to do with this issue. Any ideas on why this is happening? SkyrimLoadOrder.txt Papyrus.0.log
Pauduan Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 It's a skeleton issue. I gave up and used console commands to finish the quest, and it caused me no problem in the playthrough afterwards.

Skeleton? Skeleton??? Holy sh*t, I woulda NEVER thought of that one! I did recently update mine due to a "flat ass" issue, but wow. So how does one / what is the command to finish that quest?
myuhinny Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Redo anything that has a skeleton. Reinstall SOS as it has it's own skeleton then reinstall XPMSE and make sure it doesn't overwrite the SOS skeleton.

Once the quest journal updated I used "tfc" to go through the gate, clear the dungeon and read the word wall. Because I wasn't sure, I added the Fragment using the console too. Strangely it was never removed from inventory and was not marked as quest item. But it still seemed to work and didn't bug out the quest line for me, but YMMV.

srayesmanll Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 It has nothing to do with the skeleton. This has come up before (there is a search on this site for a reason, people). The problem came down to the HDT invisibility fix mod (for some people). Try removing that mod and try again.

You stated " I have been seeing this constantly now for a while and have not figured out the cause" . There was never a definitive answer and as such, that didn't really solve my problem. So, I will try your suggestion and if it works, I'll owe ya a beer! Thank you in advance... BTW, since you're a coder, is that mod even worth a shit (because I have no idea) ? EDIT: Well, that most definitely solved my problem! thank you srayesmanll !! Not really knowing the content of this mod, should one re-enable it or shit-can the thing? One can only go by what the author states - and I'm quite sure he didn't cover this aspect.
srayesmanll Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Not sure what the problem is or why that mod is causing the issue. Noticed it has been pulled from Nexus (there's a link to a download site for it in the removal/hidden mod note), but not sure why. Personally I have stopped using it completely. There is another post on this site that shows how to modify the the hdt xml's so that it fixes/reduces the invisibility problem and also the jittery issues that some people see with breasts/butt/belly. I made that change, and the invisibility issue was reduced the same as using the mod.
