Inventory Lags

Basically, whenever I try to change my weapon, armor, use an item (e.g. a potion or sh), activate helmet toggle (which is not part of the inventory but does this aswell), the game lags for about 6-7 seconds. It's really annoying since using items is a vital part of any gameplay. Everything else seems to work fine, Load Order has been sorted by LOOT, a bashed patch is in effect, I ran GenerateFNISForUsers.exe properly, Duel Sheath Redux patcher all the same and most mods with a ton of ITM records had those cleaned aswell (with TESVEdit).

Launch the game, make sure the logs are active.

Wait a minute without doing anything.

Do only the minimum to reproduce the problem (the lag in the inventory.)

Exit the game.

Post the resulting Papyrus.log as attachment.

This may help to identify the cause.

Done. Thanks for the quick tutorial. D:

How much crap do you have in your inventory? How much of that crap that is in there is high poly (DAZ studios) poly count stuff? The more crap you have in your inventory the more it's going to lag and with stuff that is high poly count it can get worse with CTD's just looking through inventory trying to find the item you need CTD at crafting table trying to craft outfits if there are too many high poly items in the crafting list to name a few.

I never had a CTD on the new setup as of yet, and that isn't my problem. I just started the game with Alternate Start - LAL, so my inventory is borderline empty. Just some basic items (100% vanilla), and using any item still has this lag.

As helmet toggle has it too, I'm not even sure that the inventory is at fault here.

Well I was just asking from experience as I have had it before when I had too much junk in the inventory or when too much of the stuff was high poly. Other then what I have experience not sure what could be cauising it for you.

What's the texture quality of the items, and are you on a HDD? I had an item with multiple 8k textures that also lagged me for a solid 4 secs, but by downscaling them to 2k or 1k it loaded fine.

Only Rustic Clothing 2k is in effect at that time. I'm not an a HDD, I'm using a relatively new (1 month) Western Digital My Passport Ultra 2TB.

Also potions lag exactly the same way when using them so I'm not sure it is anything texture-related.

Checked your log, that is really clean.

You have a mod (I don't know the name, the code is "_mz_HT") that is recalculating something when you are equipping/unequipping items.

Are you saying that you have the game/mods installed on an external drive? And the one you mentioned there is a HDD even if it is external.

Have you made sure it's connected to a USB 3 port? Either way there's a decent chance that using an external drive is the reason for your issue.

Yes it is connected to a 3.0 port. Is there any way to move the game from the HDD to the internal SSD without having to reinstall and re-do everything?

You can move the game by going to the properties in steam, and then there's a button in the "local files" tab.

i would get rid of any papyrus INI settings besides the log one as the ones to increase memory used by scripts can cause the game to lag when a script fires

i have another padawan?

whatever those armors are have no impact on inventory

you have less stuff in inventory when you are in helgen, then when you have empty your crafting coffer at home before going selling some crap to merchant

it's normal it take more time to load more stuff

skyui suck less than vanilla interface, it's also less performance friendly for same reason

that's where some mods become a problem, the items that don't have a name don't appear in inventory

you won't see skinnakedarmor in your inventory, you won't see poser token either, and i won't see my high poly crap either (it's equipped by selecting it in mcm menu)

when i equip some, game freeze 2-3 seconds, a 30mo nif take more time to load than an iron armor

this have no impact on inventory, my high poly is more performance friendly than iron armor in inventory

because i didn't gave them any _go or _gnd or _whatever you can see in armor folders

open one, that's the armor, without the body and without weights

it's what you see on the right in inventory when mouse pass over something

some custom armors do the same as bethesda crap, _gnd is the armor without body (some forgot to delete weights for smaller nif)

your iron armor it's probably a 2k texture

but custom armors that can be more, maybe even uncompressed textures, enought for the game to freeze 0.2 second when mouse pass over it

to make performance friendly _gnd

open the armor nif

screen it

save as armor_gnd.dds

open nif wall something in architecture

give a wall armor_gnd.dds

delete everything but the wall in the nif

save as armor_gnd.nif

give that to the inventory path

You evidently have *never* had lots of stuff in your inventory or lots of high poly stuff in your inventory at one time.  I use to have mine full of high poly DAZ stuff downloaded from different places eventually you will get enough of them into one place and it'll cause a crash scrolling through the inventory. Move them out and place half in one chest and half in a different one and the crashes while scrolling through the inventory will be gone.  It also happens when the crafting forge is full of high poly outfits to craft scroll through the list for a bit making stuff and you'll crash.

it's not because it's high poly you ram ctd in your inventory....

170208025639852630.jpg

textures eat much more ram than a 10-20mo nif

hairs that's 2-4mb of nifs and 2 mb of textures

but if you try to go from hair 1 to hair 500 in one go, that will probably be a ram ctd, even if those hairs aren't much
