Guest Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Hi, never bothered till now with mod priority shorting but only load order.Loot does a fearly nice job for that but as far as i know, there is no third party tool for reliably automatically shorting a proper mod priority order. I have read that a general good rule to properly short the mod priority in MO is to follow the arrangement the plugins have after they have been shorted out with Loot, this is rather easy to do yet a bit tedius but it doesn't matter if it gives good results. So i have a few questions for where to place stuff manually in the left panel of MO, rather basic for most but neccessary if things need to be done right from the get go. 1.In load order, plugins with bigger number have higher priority, that is, plugins fearther down in the right list of MO have higher priority than the ones on the top, is this correct? Does the same apply for the left panel of MO or the opposite (that is, mods fearther up have greater priority from the ones fearher down)? 2.Mods that contain both esms and esps should be placed in Left panel according to the esm position in right panel of MO (higher as placed automatically from loot) or according to the esp(where ever it is placed by loot)? 2.Where should skse plugins be put (mods that don't come with plugins like UI extensions, hdt, Net Immerse ovirride etc)? 3.Where should the override folder of MO be put? 4.Where should patches be put (like reproccer, dual sheath redux, bashed patch etc)? 5.Where should mods be put that contain more than one esps and placed by loot in several positions in the load order? Thanks in advance!

I've sorted mine mostly by the first esm/esp. Though you don't need to be exact, the only thing that really matters is what conflicts with what. 2.Where should skse plugins be put (mods that don't come with plugins like UI extensions, hdt, Net Immerse ovirride etc)? For this it doesn't really matter, unless you have multiple mods with the same files. 3.Where should the override folder of MO be put? 4.Where should patches be put (like reproccer, dual sheath redux, bashed patch etc)? I don't think you can move the override folder, but any mods you make from it should be at the end. Same with patches. PS. I'm no expert, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on some things.
27X Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 1. If you haven't fucked with settings, yes. 2. Generally yes, you should get both panes to match as closely as possible 2. make dedicated SKSE folder, then either your override folder for last loading or at the top next to something SkyUI or USLEEP for max compatibility, you may have to do this manually for some mods (aka add a folder in your MO Mod folder called SKSE and then right click -> explore the folder any time you want to add something) 3. You can leave it alone or make a mod and put it LAST in your load order so it has priority 4. reproccer: lower than all mods affected DSP: why are you using this it's fucking awful and should burn in hell forever and god is sending a fiery angel right now to kick you in the balls for using it Bashed Patch: at the bottom right before or after your override folder, depending on what you merged, you'll have to see for yourself where is best 5. Again this is entirely a manual thing, you'll have to best decide yourself, see what the mod is supposed to do and what it changes for best results, also check the internets for similar set ups

One last question yet again though, as far as core mods like racemenu, xpmse and sos (full), what would be the best arrangement in left panel as per priority?
khumak Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Other than what's already been mentioned above, you can also look at the file conflicts for individual mods and see if the mods that are losing conflicts are ones that you would rather win those conflicts. The most common case of this for me is for textures and/or meshes. If everything is green then it's not losing any conflicts so less likely to have issues. The red ones are worth checking though. MO also has a feature that will give you a warning if it thinks assets on the left side are not in the right order. You can ignore the warning if you want but I always fix it. I do not recommend lettting it fix automatically though. It will sometimes put mods it a strange order, such as moving the Dawnguard DLC half way down your load order when it should be at the top.

How do i enable this feature in MO?I only new of the feature that is warning you about potential load order issues (the exclamation warning sign at the top right corner of the MO window)

For me it was enabled by default. I'm using version 1.3.11 of MO. Not really sure how to test it other than mentioning some of the specific mods I have that it warns me about. If you use some of these, try moving one or more of them way up to the top or bottom of your load order to a position that is obviously wrong and then right click on the left side and go to all mods -> refresh. The ones I see warnings about most often are: Better Vampires When Vampires attack Braw bugs fix SOS SexlabFramework Wearable Lanterns There are a bunch of them but the ones above I remember for sure getting warnings about. The warning you get will say something like (SOS should be Before SexLabFramework, etc) and it will have a Fix button next to it but don't use that, fix it manually.
27X Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 The general order for MO is: SkyUI USLEEP Any other fixes graphical stuff Models that aren't people New Navmesh areas and quests coded stuff coded stuff that affects navmeshes followers race altering mods new people meshes animations skeletons and physics Fixes and bashed/merged
Varithina Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I tend to do it this way Mods/tools that I want to track but are not installed through mo, things like wryebash/enb stuff like that, mods that have nexus places and version numbers but you do not install with mo, just install the mod but do not activate it, this will allow version numbers and such to be tracked without constantly going to the mod pages and checking. Base Game esm/esp etc Unofficial patches SKSE stuff Static mesh, billboard lod stuff meshes and texture replacers npc beautifiers hair/face mods quest mods utility stuff, this includes sky ui, map mods and stuff like new spells and such races, though I tend not to bother too much with them as the game pretty much still plays the same regardless of your race, with a few exceptions that is. animations, with skeletons and such at the bottom of the list custom edits, though that tends to be in one esp for me, mine includes replacers for steel plate and modified crafting recipies, gilded elven same as for steel plate. patches and skyproc stuff
