And here's mine.

I'll say again' date=' this wasn't easy. But if I didn't have at least some faith you could do right by the character, I wouldn't bother. Besides, I might not even win this little competition, so no harm no foul.

It isn't easy to write and I should put a disclaimer we might edit any of them a bit, I give my VA's a little free reign when recording once they get in character etc if they don't feel something comes off as natural they are at liberty to change it. Nothing to take away from what is written usually just minor tweaks, hence why I asked for backstory etc, while that isn't in the alicia text I did go over char types and personalities with my VA's before I record or use audio. Will read yours tomorrow to, didn't see it over my confusion of the prior post i responded to.. O.o

Say' date=' what's the difference between battle cries, taunts, and enter/end comabt lines?

[/quote']

Umm.. really..

One is a battle cry

One is a Taunt

One is said when they enter combat

One is said when they end combat...

Was that a troll question because I honestly am fighting myself not to flame you right now....

Ok off to bed for me.. Will read yours soul and anyone elses when I get home from work tomorrow....

ANd that wasn't a serious question comon... Did they stop teaching common sense in schools or is it just Cali...

Basically I didn't understand what separates a battle cry from an enter combat line. Seems to me, "start combat dialog" and a battle cry are the same damn thing, so I was trying to figure out why you had those as two separate entries. Taunts, too, could easily double for combat starters. It did eventually dawn on me how to make those two distinct things. Hopefully it'll do.

Can't remember why I lumped start and end together in the original question, though. That was just silly of me in retrospect.

EDIT: I reserve the right to change my mind before the final judgement stage and withdraw. Not that I don't think you'd do a good job interpreting him, I just... The thought of my own character being somewhere outside my creative reach makes me uneasy. I hope you understand.

Basically when people write, myself included, we write for our imagination. Everyone interprets what they read slightly different allowing for a more personalized and intimate experience, which is why books are always in style. There is a reason hollywood changes books, albeit sometimes for the worse. What comes across amazing in a imaginative medium, can be changed drastically when solidified with a visual and audio medium.

When we make a movie or a game we lock a character, everyone will perceive that character the same because there is very little wiggle room as we lock in the voice, attitude, inflections, look etc.

Every single character I have written I have made changes to when it came to voicing it, usually at the voice actors behest. They do a good job getting into character and things that I have written that read well, sometimes do not speak well.

I don;t plan to change anybodys characters, and even rewrites will be pm'ed to people for approval before going back up here. But it will 100% happen as i highly doubt any of us have screenplay experience and I tend to work in conjunction with other people and have proofreaders edit for me as well.

No one is essentially above that. You will tend to goof up, you will make grammar errors, spelling errors, write things without fluidity that need to be re-arranged. I edited the script for my next mod 3 times personally then it got fixed again by my proofreader then it gets changed again by my VA's adding a more personalized touch based on character, then it goes back to the proofreader, then to me and if I change it back to the proofreader again.

So TL:DR

Your character is not outside your creative reach, but nuances in a visual/audio medium are almost definitely outside of any of us as solo artists.

Practically everyone but Jay, my male VA, I sit and coach and work with for the characters for perhaps hours, and we nitpick nuances etc, re-record lines to get them feeling right. So there will be changes, always, unless you want your character to perhaps feel stoic at points :P

Speaking of changes JESUS FUCKING CHRIST SOUL, i clicked it.. and ya, definitely gonna edit that up a bit to break up cpt monologue, lol. I asked for meat not a whole gd mammoth rum roast!!

:P Might fool around at lunch with it if I find something better than this notepad crap on my iphone, even then wont repost till around 6-7 PST, looking at apartments after work

TTFN

Posting another comp mod we are working on in post 2 if people want to look

Lol just remember its still a video game not a feature film. 2-3 sentences then player input is about optimal for player involvement. Sometimes longer is ok but you can lose peoples attention easily. I honestly hate my intro for descent to madness lol had the bitch ramble too much while the player was locked IMO.

I'm just curious' date=' when the PC is sneaking or naked, normal NPC's always have their snide comments, can we add our own?

[/quote']

Tentative yes.

not sure if the scenes to keep a follower might interfere with it, but go with a yes you can for now lol :P

Haha. Liked your Painslut mod. I don't know how lore-friendly this should be' date=' but then you had a masochist companion ;) I'ma write some lines and stuff now. I'm interested. =D Though, when the voices are done. I'd like a copy of the voice files, so I can use the character in my mod too =D

[/quote']

Something I forgot to note, the audio is all in the BSA files on any of my mods. Alicia even has more audio in the BSA than she ever says in the mod. You just have to extract the BSA then unfuz them :). Nothing to crazy once you start rolling on modding and figure out the audio aspects

Ok, I'm going to put this out there. It is a Khajiit companion with a lot of useful features. There is still more work to do, just let me know if the character piques your interest.

Yea, I know how the fuz stuff works, but asking if I could have a final copy. :)

Luvandfeelin, Best format so far :P

Easy to read

Good dialogue

Good skills etc, although your going to force me to learn more if I do do that companion rofl. Never thought about having them find ore etc, should be possible I would imagine.

Keep them coming, kind of surprised we only have one female script so far. Thought I would get tons of shit in that department lol

Quicky audio from my next companion, for a teaser, going to put it up in the painslut post as well :P

SOB are any audio files allowed for attachments lol oh well mediafire it is

And yes I know there's a breath thud etc, we were just testing VOIP recording signal degradation etc and I decided to bimbo her voice more and we both thought it was hilarious :P

well, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is I went big. The bad news is I went really big. I have been harboring some ideas for companions for a while. This competition has forced me to actually put them into writing. In the word file I have included a changelog and The BIG Idea/ Wish List. I'm not sure how much is feasible given the time frame, but I just wanted to get everything down that I could. Dar'Lao is pretty much playable dialogue wise. I think I have written all the necessary parts and included a nice part where he tells about his background. I'm sure I will continue to tweak and add more until the due date. BTW, added two females, be proud, one with some lines, the other i've sketched ideas for. If you open the file in Word, I have included hyperlinks to examples or ideas.

I was talking with my girlfriend about this and she's helping me with a few ideas for a small little "group" dialogue thing, with an Argonian and Khajiit; both males.

She was kinda sad that in skyrim there is a lack of characters with a certain story about their past's. Wanted harden criminals to be suddenly looking for a new pace of life (like I did with Romius) who's a mass serial killer type.

I liked the Romius Character: tragic backstory, Emotionless murderer. Fun stuff.

BTW, Have you seen the Interesting NPC's mod? It adds a lot of new NPCs many with voiced lines, and loads of dialogue. the stories are well written too.

Writing these characters has been a lot of fun. I'll post an update in a little bit.
