wimmpie Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to this forum and I registered because I have a rather specific question. Why do you play adult games / mod adult games? I'm a web developer and I was thinking about making some adult-themed game but I wanted to find out why people actually play these kind of games... Is it a replacement for porn? Is it just boredom? Or do you actually play regular games but you just like some extra sexiness? I want to find out whether I have to focus more on visuals or more on storytelling and gameplay (which might make the game more text-based). As well, what kinds of pornography should be included? Solely straight sex? Or also gay and transsexual stuff? Any fetishes? I don't know if these are strange questions, but I figured that the people on this forum do have more experience on the subject. So if you could answer my questions or give me any feedback, I'm glad to hear it Thanks in advance! Wimmpie
Kaz Aanh Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Because I can be a girl with horny horns and sex males, females and animals. and i cant do that in RL
KuteKatty Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 because you can do things that in the real life you cannot
TheOzoneHole Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 About the only ones that I play anymore are Harem Dreams, which is a strip poker game; and Slave Bike, which is strip poker with a BDSM theme. I used to play Slave Maker/Slave Trainer (whatever it is called now) a bit, but that hard drive bricked and the new version doesn't like me. Years and years ago I did mess around in Second Life for a bit, but never to the depth or degree that many people took it. As to why I play these, mostly I'm in the mood for something sexy and fun but not overly complicated to set up or that might crash on me for no reason. Usually it is just that I want to have a little fun with a sexual tone or I use it to put me in the mood for wasting three hours looking at porn. If anyone is interested I've included the addresses for the two poker games. Harem Dreams: http://mysexgames.com/games/?id=385&h=&sess=VDQ5NTR4MDE6NQ== Slave Bike: http://mysexgames.com/games/?id=387&h=&sess=VDQ5NTR4MDE6NQ==
xboronx Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 I have lots of fantasies which are sexy as fantasy but not as reality or aren't possible at all in reality. For example i like those games where you are a lesser demon/monster, trying to corrupt/enslave elves/humans etc. and eventually also beat the stronger other demons, becoming the ultimate demon. Venus blood series goes ino this direction. Also i love both the sadistic and masochistic content of Skyrim. And battlefuck games. Haven't really found one so far, but a game where you play either as a gladiator school manager or gladiatrix in an even more perverted roman empire coliseum game is also something i am looking for. Or having to play as a prisoner in a KZ/Gulag and trying to survive and escape would also be interesting. 99 of 100 tries you would fail and die one way or another.
MadGenuis Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 I guess that for me personally it is one of the things I substitute porn with, primarily based on the fact that I don't really watch porn at all. It's something I've pondered over privately but never really reached a final conclusion on, but I suspect that the explanation for my departure from traditional adult media - that is, porn and nude pictures - is my romantic streak that tends to distract me from enjoying it by demanding that I come up with an explanation as to "why" and "how" when I see things like that. If I find the reason for an adult scene unrealistic (which they generally are) or downright missing, I either have to be able to come up with an explanation of my own or I can't enjoy it beyond the basics, which is also why adult games for which adult content is simply a matter of "suddenly! Sex!" tend to confuse and annoy me more than they arouse me. Specifics aside, I think that is the main thing that appeals to me in (some) adult games and erotic writing: they generally have some pretense of a reason for the adult scenes that are (ideally) consistent with the universe it takes place in. If I can believe it, and even better feel like I have earned it somehow, adult content becomes much more enjoyable for me. As for specific fetishes and preferences... eh, I've already written extensively about mine http://www.loverslab.com/topic/67060-looking-for-adult-games-worth-a-try/ here, as well as my (and others') opinions of a number of other adult games, so I think it would be more prudent of me to direct attention there rather than to list it all again. (I will say, though, that being able to do things that would be unacceptable in the real world is also a big part of it.)
bjornk Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 I'm a newbie to this forum and I registered because I have a rather specific question. Why do you play adult games / mod adult games? I'm a web developer and I was thinking about making some adult-themed game but I wanted to find out why people actually play these kind of games... Let me give you an advice Wimmpie, don't try to please other people, make a game that pleases *you* when you play and people will come for it. Now to the answers... Why do you play adult games / mod adult games? I don't specifically play "porn" games, but I try to play games made for adults which are preferably realistic and include porn. Is it a replacement for porn? Porn is inferior. Is it just boredom? Sometimes. Or do you actually play regular games but you just like some extra sexiness? See my first answer. What kinds of pornography should be included? All kinds. Solely straight sex? That would be boring, wouldn't it? Or also gay and transsexual stuff? Nope, not for me. Any fetishes? Maybe.
Krh Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 The same set of reasons I play any other games: to experience worlds and situations beyond the mundane, to interact with characters and creatures, to enjoy stories from someone else's imagination and spice them with my own. I can slaughter with impunity, whore out, plot, scheme, destroy, protect and redeem. I can do things and have things done to me without anyone getting hurt or my reputation being damaged or me getting ugly scars.Porn is not interesting because it isn't interactive. There's no surprises involved, no variation. No fear. No mind control, tentacle rape or other outlandish stuff. Games, however, are limited only by imagination. You should focus on whatever you're good at and enjoy personally. If you're a storyteller, tell a good story. If you have ideas for clever gameplay, let's see those tricks. Obviously the more good stuff you can cram in, the better the game will be, but don't fall into the pit trap of trying to please everyone at the same time.On fetishes I'd say selectable is the best way to go, if your game isn't focused on a specific set of kinks. Either a menu with checkboxes or just structuring the game in a way that offers the sort of content players seek out. Whatever you do, don't spring icky surprises on an unsuspecting audience: nothing kills the mood faster than a "red light" kink suddenly appearing. On visuals and descriptions I'd say consistency is important with the former and balance with the latter. If you're using pictures of different models or commissioned from different artists to depict the same character, it ends up looking disjointed and jarring. Uninteractive text walls are not interesting. I don't care how well the scene is written if I can't influence the way it progresses at all. Not expecting total control here or dictating minutia, but simple choices like agreeing or refusing, enjoying or resisting, spitting or swallowing, killing or sparing and so on.Teal deer: a good game is interactive and allows for some player agency, lewd or otherwise.
afa Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 For the lolz of course. Plus it is relatively new concept in gaming. The addition of adult and sexual content add a new layer to the gameplay and storytelling equation in games. The new challenges of how to and why do certain things interest me. Overtime I care less and less about rather certain game is good or bad, but rather see it as what refinement, iteration, or innovation it has and why its concepts and ideas were implemented in certain ways, over time a loosely defined shared knowledge base is established. Implementing sex in games however often goes against that knowledge base with good reasons and proposes new challenges to overcome. On the other hand coming from the porn or movie aspects, this is the interactive porn coming to being. In the recent years movies and tv shows have been pushing out content with adult and sexual themes that are respected even among the "serious" crowd. There's also a large influx on the wide arrange of porn out there for all kind of different people. Adding game into this equation again is something new and interesting. The converging of these mediums on paper should be a slam dunk, but challenges and pitfalls are everywhere and successes are relatively niche, as to be expected since the audience are likely very specific, yet the number of people who seems to be interested in these medium is at an all time high.
dead.dog Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Hey, I'm a web developer too! Is it a replacement for porn? I wish it was entirely, but I like lots of variety and I get burnt out on certain things, so while it's my top choice, it's not always varied or quality enough for me to fully replace porn. Is it just boredom? Sometimes. I find adult content endlessly engaging, so sometimes I'll play adult games instead of other video games, even if I don't plan on masturbating. Visuals versus storytelling. 90% visuals, 10% storytelling. I love simple, eagerly enthusiastic stories. The long-ass novel shit filled with usually horrific writing is a big turn-off to me; I want to get to the exciting bits! Gameplay, whether difficult, grinding, or too wordy, standing in the way of a porn game is, to me, a huge mistake by the creators. I see it all the time: they have this script with all these flat, boring characters and want to create this huge drama about this group of people, and I just want a female protagonist who goes around getting laid. Is that too much to ask? :-D What kinds of porn? Straight, MMF/MMMF/MMMMF, tanlines, futanari, bukkake, super horny females, squirting, public nudity, bottomlessness, ENF, glasses, DP. I can't stand rape-focused porn, pregnant porn, nor anything with BDSM-affects (clamps, whips, shibari, etc). Gay and trans stuff? I'm mostly straight, so I wouldn't be overly excited about gay stuff, but I wouldn't mind it either. Trans stuff is usually super hot, both traps and futanari are fantastic.
