Elgate Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I recently learned that adblock decided to let some ads slide. I can understand that some website survive with ads, but I recently went on a website that was opening 3 window and a tabs full of ads every time I clicked a link.Does anyone know of a good replacement for adblock plus on Firefox?
RuikoTwo Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Ublock Origin and NoScript. Takes care of just about anything. Â Â
myuhinny Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I use ad blocker ad blocker plus fair adblocker (by stands) and ghostery. Have you run malaware spyware remover as well as a virus remover to see if the pop ups are actually coming from something on your computer?
swmas Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Try Addblock Plus Pop-up Addon and set it to work on ALL sites. Â FYI Addblock plus doesn't actually block adds by itself, it uses a list to tell it what to block, you can customize it yourself. Go to AdblockPlus site to read the documentation.
Sigmund Fried Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Honestly? As long as it blocks pop-ups, ads with sound, and YouTube ads, it can do whatever. Those are the only three ads I really consider annoying, besides genuine virus ads.
darkconsole Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 use ublock origin myself. i dont bother with noscript since i like sites working. ublocks got a page of checkboxes you can mark for adding lots of pre-fab self-updating lists to be as tight or loose as you want.
Elgate Posted November 1, 2016 Author Posted November 1, 2016 Thank you for all the advices, I'm trying ublock for now. I'll have it run alongside Adblock for a while and see if things go smoother. Thanks for the amazing feedback.
