Conan Build

I would like some help in building Conan the Cimmerian for Skyrim. What skills would Conan have in Skyrim? Would Conan use healing potions?  Would he use magical items, weapons, and armor?

Well let's start with the basics.  He usually used some form of light armor, which with smithing can in fact be as good as heavy armor, and he was fairly proficient with all melee weapons.  Depending on which story you follow Conan actually wore whatever garb was normal for the land he was in, but comics usualy went with a loincloth.  For your sanity I would suggest 2 handed and train up block to 30 to get quick reflexes as he was fairly fast.  Conan favored swords over other weapons, so greatsword would be ideal.

Conan has been a mercenary, thief, pirate and a warlord.  The original works are considered to be part of the cthullhu mythos as the author of Conan, Robert E. Howard, was frequesntly associated with H.P. Lovecraft and the 2 borrowed ideas and plot devices from each other frequently.  Despite this Conan simply used a greatsword as his primary weapon.  He was incredibly fast with the weapon which would be best exemplified by the elemental fury shout.  So I would suggest:

Race-Nord

Hair-black

Eyes- Unusual shade of blue

Skin- Sun Bronzed

Skills

2 handed

Block

Light or heavy armor depending on what you feel like, both are supported by the character

Smithing

Speech (he did spend some time as a king after all)

Stone- Warrior first, then either the Lady or the Lord stone.

Shouts- Elemental Fury, Drain Stamina, Marked for Death, Unrelenting Force.

Morality- Chaotic good.  Do what is good even if you have to bend the law

Quests

Companions

Main

Dawnguard siding with the dawnguard as he was the champion of the people.

Potema quest line

Any quests related to becoming a thane.

Healing methods- Potions were not really a part of Conan's lore but he was no dummy.  He'd use the potions if he needed them for healing.

Hope this gets you some ideas.  Let me know how it turns out.

Since Conan is thief should I have him have some perks in Sneak and Lockpicking?  Should he not use any magical weapons, armor, and items?

I have my character looking like Arnold though I wish i could make a version of Conan's face based on the books instead.  I am not that great with making faces.  I found  info on how to make Arnold's face in vanilla Skyrim which I used to make him as Conan's face before I had any mods.

With the race menu how would I get Sun Bronzed skin?

What would Conan's take be on the Thalmor?

Conan would have a lot of points in Sneak, especially the battle components but he didn't have much patience for picking locks. He was more the type to break down doors and take locked chests with him to break open later. Sadly, these aren't options in Skyrim without certain mods, so I'd say to play it how you like it.

So long as the item didn't have some kind of odd effect that he couldn't understand, Conan was fine with magical weapons and armor. Anything that gave him an edge in combat was great so long as it just enhanced his natural skills.

You should be able to just play with the color sliders in Racemenu. Choose a darker caucasian color to start with then go into the sliders and play around with it a bit. Make it a little more orangey. Keep in mind, though, that he's Cimmerian which has a climate very similar to Skyrim's. Bronze skin would not be his natural tone. He'd only be tanned in the southern lands.

Conan didn't really trust anyone, especially people who used magic a lot. While he didn't have any outright hatreds or prejudices he was more wary around cultures that worshipped strange gods or had a lot of mysticism, e.g. Stygia. I doubt he'd kill Thalmor on sight but he'd definitely be more cautious around them than he would, say, a Redguard.

Works for me. He's got a metric ton of stamina. Dude can carry heavy stuff over walls, ravines, mountains, etc..., and in way too many of his stories he's had to run all day long or withstand hellish conditions.

The description of Conan was never really defined well and details changed between stories.  Long black hair, blue eyes, bronzed skin.

Conan did have a career as a master thief.  So long as you don't have him casting any spells you really could give him any skills you like.  I favor more the Arnold movie presentation as that was my first exposure to the character but if you want to follow the other interpertations it could flesh him out quite a bit more.

Conan was remarkably benevolent but suspicious of any kind of magic users.  As the Thalmor view magic as superiority it is not too difficult to assume that Conan would be fine with high elves but not the thalmor themselves.

For sun bronzed just go with whatever darker skin tone looks like it comes from being in the sun more often than not and you'll be fine.

I don't recall his sword being enchanted but I don't see any problem with using enchanted items.  Conan himself was not skilled in magical arts so you would not be enchanting your own items but reining, recharging, and using should be fine.
