CTDs on save load with no changes made to game. Please help!

Hey fellow modders,

 

So as the title says, I'm getting a CTD every time I try to load a save. I get the loading screen for a few seconds and then crash to desktop without any messages. This is a very new playthrough that I started yesterday and I'm only about 4 hours into the save. I've made no changes to the game since this problem started. No uninstalled mods, no new mods, nothing.

 

I use Mod Organizer and I've run LOOT. I also use FNIS and I've run it properly. Load order and everything else seems to be completely fine, but I can't figure out for the life of me what has suddenly made this fresh save so unstable. My best guess is that it's one or more of the script heavy mods that I have causing some serious unstability. Naturally I've tried disabling the ones that I thought could be the culprits, but alas the save still refuses to load. I also checked if the save script cleaner mod turned up anything, but everything came out clean.

 

As a final attempt at debugging I checked the papyrus log, but it's a complete mess and I have no idea where to look for issues as this is my first time ever having such a consistent CTD problem.

 

I hope some of the more technically adept minds here at LoversLab could help me in figuring this out. Thanks in advance!

Okay, so I managed to find a workaround. If I load an earlier save of the same character (the very first one that's created when completing character creation) and wait a while, then the other saves load fine after this. I think it has something to do with the game loading a lot of scripts, but I'm not sure.

 

I don't know if there is any other way to fix this problem, except maybe removing a bunch of the script heavy mods and starting a new game.

If I load an earlier save of the same character (the very first one that's created when completing character creation) and wait a while, then the other saves load fine after this. Try this.

It'll properly and automatically do the "new game trick" for you.

I tried the mod and it doesn't seem to help. I'm able to load the save sometimes, but most of the time I just get the same CTD.

 

I think my game is completely screwed at this point. On top of not being able to load the save most of the time, I'm now getting a c++ runtime error too (when I do manage to load the save by chance). Has to be some of my mods being too heavy on the papyrus side, but I have no idea how to debug the problem.

 

Sucks because I just spent DAYS modding the game, finally got the new playthrough rolling, was enjoying it a lot and now this.

take a look to crash fix and try it... not solve the problem for me but say where can be the problem...

 

for me, the error always say some like ikfoot error and is related to too many animations.. run fnis for users and look in the last lines... i have near 3500 animations and nomally i have CTD when load savegame half of the times..

 

and of course, use Save game script cleaner for clean yours saves.. is a great help when changing mod's

some mod stuff have highter priority than the skyrim stuff it need to work, and that's a ctd if you try to load a save that have it from main menu

 

that's why you always coc qasmoke before loading a save
