HentaiGnome Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 For some reason, my game will randomly freeze to the point that I have to force quit using the task manager. I know it's not a hardware issue because I can play any other game just fine on max settings. Furthermore, it's only with this game that I'm running into this issue (and only just recently since before it was fine). Strangely enough, the game isn't completely frozen. There are still animations running in the background, like trees swaying or water ripples, and the plumbob above the selected sim still spins around. But it's as if the sims themselves are "frozen in time", and furthermore I can't click on anything including the menu nor can I zoom in or out. It's like a major lag hiccup that never recovers from itself and I end up having to force-quit the game. Even stranger is that the task manager does NOT show the game as "not responding". So clearly, the game is still running. All I know is that I added some random mods recently, but they were sliders and cosmetic mods. I wonder if there's some conflict though, or maybe I changed some NRAAS settings that I shouldn't have? UPDATE: Issue is resolved (for now! *crosses fingers*)

You shouldn't use nraas error trap with kinkyworld, they are incompatible. Damn. I was getting conflicting messages on whether or not to have it. Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna test without it.

Nraas Error Trap can be used with KW as long as you use the Disable Dereferencing Tuning. Snaifs Nudists has been outdated since Supernatural and not really compatible with Seasons CmarNyc has an updated version of them at Sexy Sims. You also have alot of extra sliders do you have the Nraas Master Controller Integration addon? If not you'll need it to increase the Number of sliders that can be used.

I got rid of them now and replaced them with Cmar's Nouveau Nudists. Interestingly enough it seems like the game isn't as laggy as it was before, but I'll continue to test it and cross my fingers lol.

Wicked Loveth Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Okay... since I recently acquired TS4 I can say this without a random going "get it and tell me you don't like it." I hate it. It's TS2 all over again -- can't walk next door without a flipping loading screen and it's boring. {sigh} So besides the basic mod conflicts .... I noticed you're running a few heavy expansions. Yes, TS3 is "unstable" when you add a crap ton of mods on top of the heavy EPs but again, as I've said a thousand times all up and through this forum -- due diligence on the player's part. I can run TS3 + Late Night, Supernatural, Island Paradise, World Adeventures, and Ambitions with Kinkyworld, 3+gb of custom content, and most of the NRaas on Windows XP. Make whatever you want out of that. More to the point, TS3 is not made to be run with all the E/SPs + mods + cc at once. It's never going to happen. My suggestion would be to take out Pets and Seasons or use one or the other. Pets adds a lot of animals to the game that add to the lag issue big time. So does Seasons. Together it is most often a disaster unless you're only running those two and a minor EP like... Ambitions or Late Night. If you want to push it to the limit, play in a small world like Lucky Palms or one of a hundred custom made worlds. EA worlds come with routing issues that also add to lag--Bridgeport is a route issue blackhole, so is Isla Paradiso (but it's less noticeable since it's on the small side), you can find a few EA worlds that have been redone to get rid of the routing issues. If you can cut down on the stuff that's bound to cause lag no matter what you do, you'll run into less issues with modifications to the game. It sounds like a lot but when it's worth it, it's worth it.

Routing is one of the biggest problems on this game, one single sim stuck somewhere on your homeworld can slow your PC to a crawl. Also the engine cannot support multiple cores correctly, plus the whole 32bit RAM limitations and of course EA's own mistakes, bugs and whatnot that plagues every single expansion. It is possible to play with all the expansion / stuff packs and I know because the coffee maker I have as PC can do it, but it requires a lot of mods to fix several nuances + worlds with fixed routing + keeping an eye on your population (especially stray horses) + configuring almost every option on NRAAs suit. Besides NRAAs and Modthesims to find fixes I recommend going to Naughty Sims Asylum and make an account, then check Shimrod, Bluegenjutsu and Twoftmama's mods. Also a +1 to Lucky Palms being a nice world with zero routing issues.

It's TS2 all over again -- can't walk next door without a flipping loading screen and it's boring. {sigh} So besides the basic mod conflicts .... I noticed you're running a few heavy expansions. Yes, TS3 is "unstable" when you add a crap ton of mods on top of the heavy EPs but again, as I've said a thousand times all up and through this forum -- due diligence on the player's part. I can run TS3 + Late Night, Supernatural, Island Paradise, World Adeventures, and Ambitions with Kinkyworld, 3+gb of custom content, and most of the NRaas on Windows XP. Make whatever you want out of that. More to the point, TS3 is not made to be run with all the E/SPs + mods + cc at once. It's never going to happen. My suggestion would be to take out Pets and Seasons or use one or the other. Pets adds a lot of animals to the game that add to the lag issue big time. So does Seasons. Together it is most often a disaster unless you're only running those two and a minor EP like... Ambitions or Late Night. This time, I only have Pets (for a certain woohoo ). The good news is that it seems like my game isn't lagging anymore! Now I'm kind of tempted to reinstall Seasons and Island Paradise only because I really enjoyed how immersive they were. I think I'll just install and test them one at a time. Right now I found a Route Fix by Twoftmama and a No Route Fail Animation by bluegenjutsu. Hopefully these will help.

A version of the sims 3 without random freezes, now that'd be weird. Hey, are you still experiencing this problem? The way I fixed it was I had to uninstall and reinstall the game. Yes, that also included removing the Sims 3 folder in My Documents. (I made a backup of my Mods, Downloads, and Saved Sims folders.) Now I have a stable Sims 3 even with several expansion packs installed and a bunch of CC lol. Sure, there's the occasional hiccup here and there but it's NOWHERE NEAR the show-stopping force of minute-long freezes that would occur every five seconds. I know it's a pain having to start over especially if you've invested so much time into it already, but it's either putting up with issues and not fully enjoying the game, or trying to actually fix it. @ Wicked Loveth: Okay so I'm starting to believe that what was causing my issues was most likely due to some corrupted game file somewhere. After I uninstalled and reinstalled everything, the game is working fine again (knock on wood lol). In fact, I now have both Pets and Seasons installed again together at the same time and everything still runs smoothly, even with CC mods installed as we speak. I'm gonna experiment by installing a few more expansions but if all goes well then it'll further confirm my suspicion that my problems were definitely caused by some corrupted file. So again, thanks for the help. @ JoshQ: Lucky Palms is great! I'm surprised I haven't bothered with these neighborhoods from the EA store. I noticed that Overwatch didn't report as many routing issues compared to the other neighborhoods and so far my game's been pretty smooth. If worse comes to worst, I can always just use the resetsim * cheat command. But I haven't had to use it in a while since reinstalling the game lol.
