applesnraisins Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 What about all those sex animations, though? Don't they need an update to work with the updated version of WickedWhims? They do not! Animations are good no matter what, they just need to use the base programming of WW to function. C:
Blaccwidowbaby Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 All i gotta do is remove the wickedwhims folder right? the animations are fine as they are?
Shaqrach Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Hi I can see that some people are having problem since the new toddler update for the sims, I am also having problems. I was just wondering if people are having the same problem as me. When I load a family I noticed that I don't have any tabs available such as my needs tab, inventory and so on. I also can't see my sims thumbnail in the left bottom corner and also I can't bring any options up when I click on an object in the game, it is unplayable really, Is anyone else having the same problems? if so it would be great to find out as I'm worried I may have to uninstall my game. If anyone is having the same problem as me it would be great to hear from you Thank you! Delete old TS4SCRIPT files. That'll probably fix the problem. Actually, it does fix it!... You'll have your control panel back, but you have to wait for sex, lol. Pardon my ignorance, but where do you find TS4SCRIPT files??
Carabine Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 So uh. I'm seeing there are a lot of people here that must be new to modding with TS4. This is really important, so I'm gonna make it super big and bold. It is important that you remove the mods folder from your Sims 4 folder before updating your game. If you do not do this, there is a very high chance your actual files will get corrupted. Once your game is corrupt, I don't know how to fix everything beyond uninstalling and reinstalling the *entire game*. I feel bad for all of you that probably didn't follow that INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT STEP. It also helps if you use "Save As..." when saving instead of just "Save". each updates, Mods are automatically disabled by Origin so......

The installation process of the updates can fuck with whatever's in your mods folder; they automatically turn off script mods and stuff with each update as a COURTESY, but they can still cause issues with the updating itself. To everyone having issues, now would be a very good time to organize your mods folders. Put mods that rely on scripts or change things in the game (like WickedWhims) in their own separate folder. Mine is called "Actual Mods" because they change the way the game functions. That way, you know what stuff you'll possibly need to update with each patch. Custom Content/CC (outfits, makeup, furniture) is very rarely affected by updates, but those script mods? It's really impossible to tell. So yes, with this update, you need to completely and totally remove WickedWhims until it updates. Take the files out completely. If you have any other mods that are considered "script mods" (remember, these are the ones that change the way the game itself works), you should probably take those out as well and wait until the mod authors give you the go-ahead to use them with this patch.

That is simply not true, mods are in My Documents folder along with saved Sims, Lots and similar things as the game itself is installed by default in the Origin folder (that is, were Origin is installed). Mods are not corrupted, they are simply outdated due to new logic introduced in the patch, we gone from Child/Teen/Adult/Elder to Toddler/Teen/Adult/Elder and so any mod that uses the old logic is incompatible because there is a new life stage, if pets come out its most likely be incompatible again. The patching process only affects the files the game installs, it should never touch the Mods folder, any "corruption" can only be caused by regular file corruption, the only issue is saved games because save games may also store mod information.
simsgurl Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Since the toddler update came out the wickedwhims will not work with the patch. I don't know if i am installing it wrong or if the patch is effecting it but I would like it to work again.
DRKN Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Its unlikely to work because they added a new life stage, pretty much anything that touches Sim basic data is going to make a mess of things because its now missing strings.. Same when pets come out for the exact same reason.
Kimsin21 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 hey I have downloaded the update and its still not working is anyone else have this problem? ps sorry if this has been asked already
mayamine Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Hi! So, every time I log into my game I get a message saying that I have installed Wicked Whims and all interactions have stopped. Don't worry, etc. The only issue is that I'm not seeing the Wicked option at all no matter who or where I click. This is the only mod I have installed right now. I had another one installed before and that one worked fine but I got rid of it to see if it was the issue and then restarted the game.
MinorLaser Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Yep! With Turbo's help, turns out wanting to be clever I actually broke the XML file, lol. I "deleted" lines by making them into comments but forgot to close the comment before the other comment began. Once I closed the comment lines, the animation appeared in the "Wicked" context menu. However, it still isn't working properly, so I'll need to look into that when I've got a bit of time. You can check if your XML file is correct at http://www.xmlvalidation.com/, that's what Turbo recommended me Thanks a bunch. My animation now shows up in-game, problem is it isn't my animation, it isn't any really, the character just stands there. Will have to keep working. And good luck on yours, hope to see it sometime.
FaelwynSilverwing Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I get a save error with WW installed. Hoping the update comes out soon. Ever since I started playing with WW, it's hard to play without.

Because of the new game patch, we'll have to wait until the wicked woohoo creator udapted the mod for the the new patch game. Just need to check out time by time, to see if the updated of the wicked woohoo is up. It's normal it's not working in your game now
XenomorphQueen Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 hey I have downloaded the update and its still not working is anyone else have this problem? ps sorry if this has been asked already It was a temporary update to sort of undo the damage. It's still in need of work before it's fixed. I'd imagine that's why he didn't release it here yet. You'll just have to wait until tomorrow I'd imagine before he can work some more on it.

applesnraisins Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I'm just saying that I've been downloading and modding The Sims games for over a decade now and the *tried and true* way to avoid problems when updating is to remove mods when updating your game. You can say it's nonsense all you want, but I removed my folder before updating and I haven't had a single problem. Take a peek over on the official forums and you'll see that everyone involved in modding TS4 says the same thing: Make sure to remove your mods folder before updating your game.
FaelwynSilverwing Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Origin updates automatically, so removing the mods isn't exactly feasible.
applesnraisins Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Origin updates automatically, so removing the mods isn't exactly feasible. It is if you turn off automatic updating.
lonewolf2117 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 loaded the game, had an update, was like me whatever, then I realized mods were turned off, turned them back on loaded my game and realized I couldn't select any of my sims and I their portraits were not on the left corner. left game, turned off mods then loaded back on, everything was fine but no mods. I'm just glad my save wasn't corrupted, just need for the wickedwhims update, until then just gotta keep mod scripts/mods turned off.
kaiyote22 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I am unable to save due to error code 510 and i've deleted the wicked woohoo mod folder from saves so i'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue after the update?

XGN DeathRaid Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 hey. i think the new toddler update patched the wicked whims. it shows up in the mods in the main intro screen but when i get in the game none of the wicked options appear. i have both of the mod options on in the menu. al my other mods wirk except wicked, anyone else having this problem? I have the same problem. I also cant save my game at all loaded the game, had an update, was like me whatever, then I realized mods were turned off, turned them back on loaded my game and realized I couldn't select any of my sims and I their portraits were not on the left corner. left game, turned off mods then loaded back on, everything was fine but no mods. Take a peek over on the official forums and you'll see that everyone involved in modding TS4 says the same thing: Make sure to remove your mods folder before updating your game. That was never true, the closest was in TS1 and TS2 since mods could not be turned off and TS2 had a somewhat "nasty" way of handling expansions ... if you had a fridge and got seasons then it would not work with the seasons mechanics, then if it was updated for Season people that didnt had to use the previous versions and most modders werent going to keep track of every possible expansion combo and make versions for it, TS3 introduced the "turn off mods" because despite being told to remove the mod folder because of possible incompatibilities people didnt and then complained about the either either endless loading or some things not working so, they added the option and then made it mandatory because even that way, people would not do and then complain about the game being broken. Moving the mods folder ceased to be a thing since TS3 and it was only a thing because people are fucking stupid, anyone with a brain did so because they knew things might be broken due to updated game logic, Seasons for example "broke" fridges because of new recipes and since since they were stored on the fridge data itself it mean all CC fridges had to be updated, of course if you lacked seasons having a Seasons Fridge would then break it because it had data the game could not understand. I been here since Sims 1, I know why we moved the Mods Folder and why there is no reason in TS4 to do it since its not TS1 or TS2, the way it handles data is set in a way CC usually doesnt need to be updated to work with newer patches, scripting mods are entirely different things since they can potentially hang the game from loading but there is no way to know the impact unless trying to load the game with it, people should keep track of what they download and check for incompatibilities, moving the Mod folder and putting it back will change nothing, its breaking the game logic because its incompatible its going to do it REGARDLESS until its updated, patching never ever touches the mod folder for the obvious reason, there is NOTHING to patch there, there are NO files there to patch outside the Resource.cfg that you arent supposed to edit in the first place, only tume they touched that file was back in TS3 when they changed it to support subfolders, something people already did by editing it.
FaelwynSilverwing Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Origin updates automatically, so removing the mods isn't exactly feasible. It is if you turn off automatic updating. I always forget. xD
