MikeyD28 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 For those of you who use this mod, how do you all approach the game? This isn't a thread where I'm asking how exactly to use it, but more of a how do you utilize it in your adventures? I often use it just to test out situations and to watch the character be defeated. I also use it to add a little danger to the game for when I'm actually trying to get from point a to point b and don't want to be delayed. I was just curious how others use it in case there's ways this game can be played with this mod that I'm not aware of.
Torchwood Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I never actually utilize the victim portion of the mod...I use it on my Male character (Lawful good) to save damsels in distress. It's really mostly there for NPC's to utilize more than myself. The Capture portion is superb though.
znaroks Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I mainly use it now with the stamina threshold in combat, if my stamina falls below 5 percent, theres a chance my character gets knocked down, or even knocked out entirely. That sort of thing adds a pretty immersive element to combat IMO, I sometimes use the surrender option too if I see that theres just no way I can get out of the fight alive(like when bandit chef oneshots my follower and is now looking at me). If you have ever been in a serious fistfight IRL, you know that even with the adrenaline boost you get from fight ot flight response, if you start throwing punches too fast and too quickly, you get tired REALLY fast and it becomes very difficult to fight, and both people sort of grab onto each-other, trying to get the opponent on the ground and yell "ARE YOU DONE BRO"? Also encourages NOT to go explore a bandit camp/dungeon alone, so your follower can save you in case you get knocked out of the fight... or you both get raped...
Sceadugengan Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 When I first installed Defeat I played around with it like getting my character into a pretty bad situation on purpose, just to see how the mod works. When I play as a female character I usually try to avoid defeat in order to not get her raped. I'm also using Death Alternativ, so you won't die easily and Defeat gives you an immersive motivation to win a fight. When I play as a male character I usually just capture bandits and hand them over to the authorities. Once I also played a rather evil male character. When I just started with this evil character (around lvl2 at the time) I was running along a road and discovered a group of forsworn, which was too much to handle for him. Luckily a female member of the Companions was traveling on the road behind me, so I just stepped aside and watched as both sides clashed. Many forsworn died but eventually the member of the Companions sank to her knees. I cleaned up the rest of the forsworn, tied up the Companion and put her into a sack. That day my character gained some decent equipment for his level and a new toy
monsta88 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I use it to increase the difficulty of the game. It really changes the fight that it can end really badly. The fight became much more tactical and defensive due to Defeat, since even one bad hit can lead to bad things. I also like the additional defeat options, for example you can tie up NPCs and such. Though I don't use them much, it gives a lot to the immersion (well, the bagging not so much, but whatever Correction: if you play an orc, bagging some food is not a bad idea.). I use the option that successful blocking negates the effect. I don't use the NPC vs NPC part. I also don't use DA since a while, nor Cursed Loot's defeat options, they don't work well together.

Byrd_USA Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Realistic life play through. My whore (who's really an assassin disguised) was jumped by some bandits late night coming back from a housecall. Raped and robbed she awoke with no money, weapon,or armor in jail. Lesson learned, don't think you're safe because your near town.
Vuulgar Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Ihave used it for bounty hunter with the tie up bounty portion. I have played as a supposed good guy that likes to sneak into womens homes at night and tries to make them pregnant. Also just to make the fights harder by making the exhaustion 80% stamina from behind with 50% knock down...with all the extra npc from Populated Skyrim its hard to keep bad guys off your back.
arpaschad Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I use it for some Immersion...together with Death Alternative I set it around 50-60% chance to trigger so playing as a female character gets you killed, robbed or raped...If I wanna test some animation like gangbangs I put it into 100% and then run into a dense group of enemies...unfortunately I experience CTD's when inside dungeons and when I enter the bleedout state...don't know if it works on outdoors with multiple enemies...
RenaSan Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 I find this mod has become something I started spending a LOT of time on to make it exactly how I want it. These are the features I like about it: Being able to carry away dead bodies, for example if you killed someone in the streets (great immersion) You really don't want to be caught dragging around a body. Assault targets from Sneak. Because even if you do not kill them, you can bind them, be they male or female. It is also pretty reliable, specially if you don't want to kill the target. Then you can also blindfold you and go about looting their home. (again, great immersion) For roleplaying purposes, because I do like to play immersive and rape just belongs into a good old medieval story for me. I could probably come up with more, but I wanna make a few points about how to optimize your SexLab Defeat. Right now I am working to re-tag most of my animations, because some 'aggressive' animations just don't feel appropriate after assaulting an unexpecting woman from behind in her home to then rape her and leave her there. But by adding a 'NoDefeat' tag to the animation I am able to supress them from the animations chosen. Then, you never get this weird thing happening to you that you initiate a rape scene and it turns out to be a fucking 69. Makes me wonder, I never really looked into it if it is possible to have sex lab ask you when a scene starts which animation set you want to play. I mean, more than often I find myself initiating a scene and become unstatisfied with the animation played, even though I like it (because all the ones I don't like are toggled off). It just kills my immersion (also, because I record and share my playthroughs with friends, I kind of want as little as possible menu actions.) One way I found around this is to simply have all animations but one toggled off, if you really want that one to be played. Anyway, back to the topic of Defeat. I do like the Player/Follower integrations. What I don't like is the player as victim, but I guess that can be fun for people who get off on those things, but to me it's simply way too random. It'd have to actually come with some sort of story. Say, you get captured by the bandits and they bring you back to their camp. There you end up in a tent, tied up and this very dommy female has her way with you. Yea, I can see myself enjoying that. (looking at it from playing a male perspective.) If I played a female (without it being a cocked female) character, then yea her getting raped instead of killed sometimes would be a nice little twist, but then again, if it's just randomly geting low, getting bashed, then suddenly you're plugged up, just doesn't feel all that right. Truthfully though, I haven't played around with the player as victim control yet. Same goes for the npc on npc, I do like the idea of it though, random girls getting raped here and there in some darker alleys (which btw are not really enough around skyrim, cities are pretty small and simplified). Sorry for the long post, but yea that's how I, currently, am playing with Defeat.

It gives me reason to fight to the last breath because now, in my game, there are worse things than simply being killed. One of my characters hasn't been raped (yet) because she's a heavy armored 2h sword user, but playing my lighter armored characters is more of a struggle, and it makes the game more fun imo...

Playing as a light armor sneaky type at Legendary difficulty with Defeat definitely makes you think about when to commit to fighting and when to just leave the area. That is, until you get Lydia. In my current game she's a fucking tank. I'll get knocked down, and when I'm struggling to my feet I look over and she's getting beat on by five or six bandits without really breaking a sweat.
Guest Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Defeat is arguably my favourite SL mod despite its recurring CTDs but that might just be because of improper modding on my part. Sometimes my character is faced with a particularly troublesome foe. For the difficulties they caused me I will reserve them a horrible fate: they will first be humiliated, then, when I've had my fun, they will be executed. Lol that's pretty dramatic when put that way Anyway, yeah, I primarily use its assaulting functionality. Used it as a victim too in the beginning but that got old after a while
Valgo Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I play three different Versions of it. One of my male chars is the evil overlord kind of guy. So obviously he rapes and abducts a lot of female bandits. Another one is a good guy and he sometimes plays Bountyhunter. The third and forth are both females and they both end up getting raped from time to time when I fuck up. I have Death alternative set to only give me the outcomes I like like the red wave or Sanguines Debauchery. However there is always a happy end for my girls (who are both eachs other follower) , the way to said happy end is reached is usually depraved however. I try to fight my way out of near-rape scenarios or have them retreat but thanks to the options to get knocked down from behind or with power attacks it still occurs often enough to keep me satisfied. I plan on triggering Slaverun over defeat/ death alternative rather than playing the introdcution quest in any case but for now that option remains turned off.
Thinker Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 So, is there a way to set it up so your character can't die? Merely get knocked down and used and left to recover?
afa Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 The later version of Defeat has an essential player option to prevent PC from dying against potential aggressor, but it doesn't seems to work 100% of the times, and will still die against other foes. I used to run Death Alternative along with it, but have been testing new ways to use Defeat with other essential PC mods. Using Defeat has been sort of an experiment for me. Generally I use it with an essential PC mod to prevent dying and reloading. It also helps with trying to balance the game for extended play time and tally up times defeat actually trigger and the various conditions. I also almost exclusive play with followers to add another layer on top.
Guest Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I often go in as a girl who gets in over her head, gets inspired by adventurers but obviously does not have the skills, in the end she is defeated by a bunch of awful bandits, and they have their way with her as their captive. I always try to go into a more complete actual play though with defeat, but I either get bored or too horny, so I probably dont have much advice to give :I
