Anybody experience charley horse before? - basically waking up due to cramps in ur calfs. I occasionally have this problem, but waking up due to it is like waking up to some body compressing ur calf, It hurts like hell and u still have to deal with soreness in the calf for the rest of the day. So far it has always been my right calf ( cause the cramps haven't left, haha *ahem* im sorry). Any solutions?

I use to have them whenever I stretch my body while sleeping.  It's been a some years now since my last incident because my body will automatically stop stretching if it senses any stress on the calf muscles.

It's recommended that you do stretching exercises, drink plenty of fluids, replenish your electrolytes when needed, and don't over-exert yourself when doing activities that will stress or injure your muscles.

If you really want to experience painful muscle spasms, I mean so painful you have difficulty breathing and can't move then injure your spine in such a way that the discs will start to shift sideways causing your whole torso to spasm.

Don't get me started on the time I had a tongue spasm.

I get these now and then, It's weird because it kills but i'm half asleep so i don't really remember it hurting (yet i do if you know what i mean)kind of like a real dream, that's what it feels like to me. Although i do feel it throughout the whole day and it takes about a day to go away. One time i could barely stand up, i was limping the whole day. I tend to try and stretch my leg out and stretch my foot upwards so it makes my calf tense up just before i go sleep in hopes i don't get the cramp in my leg. Also it's just the right leg for me too. But damn it hurts like hell.

Too little of Potassium, Calcium, or Magnesium in your diet. Bananas are good for Potassium and Magnesium, while leafy greens, cheese, yogurt, and even almonds are full of Calcium.

The worst I've ever had was a side cramp with 3 cracked ribs and a 'bruised' spine. Couldn't stretch it out, so I just had to wait (forever) for it to pass.

Frisky, old gf and a bag of Skittles.  I was tasting the rainbow when I had a coughing fit while over-extending my tongue then all hell broke loose.  The intense pain in my throat shot up into my skull.

Just like your calf muscle being sore for the rest of the day after a Charley Horse, my tongue was sore and had some difficulty swallowing.

I used to get them when I slept but discovered that it was because I was dehydrated. If I stay well hydrated I'm fine. My mother used to get them on the arches of her feet. That must be excruciating...

I get them on the arches of my feet.

It is excruciating.

Except I don't wake up to them. They're just general cramps. I've been woken up by cramps before but mostly it's when I'm at rest.

Magnesium pills (or other foods with high magnesium content).

Magnesium rather reliably prevents cramps, at least the common kind that's due to not getting enough uh magnesium. Also you could try try high-magnesium-content mineral waters, eating bananananas, drinking lots of water (dehydration can cause cramps), stretching that muscle, and walking more.

Oh and you may want to go see a doctor to check your leg. I had occasional cramps in my right leg - and then got a pulmonary embolism because I hadn't noticed that decades of too much sitting and no sports have fucked up one of my veins, which allowed a thrombosis to form, part of which tore off and got stuck in my lung artery, which caused colics and pneumonia.

I'm not sure if cramps and thromboses are in any way related, but if your cramps only affect one muscle and it's always the same one, it can't hurt to ask a doc to make sure it's not a more serious problem.
