Should I or should I not make a Merged Patch for Skyrim?

I've been reading conflicting information whether I should or should not make a MP. I've read there are certain types of mods that shouldn't go into it, like mods that are in the BSA format, and other types of mods. I also read that by merging certain complex mods, some of its functions can simply cease to work.

So tl;dr, is it recommended/safe or not to make a Merged Patch for Skyrim?

I don't know if it is recommended or not.  I don't use BSA format, I stick to loose files, and have MO set to unpack BSAs to loose files.  I have used merged patches for a long time and have never had a problem (as far as I know!).

There is no pat answer that is 100% correct.  It depends on what you have installed.  We can't really make a recommendation until we know what you are using.

Generally it is safe.  Script heavy mods aren't usually recommended to include, but sometimes they are.  Again, depends.  Generally if it is unsafe, the mod author will note this in he readme.  There is no getting around reading those.  It is critical to keep from pulling your hair out.

Thanks for the quick answers.

In other words, I would have to read the description of every single mod I have installed, then pray that none of them forgot to mention you shouldn't include it in a Merged Patch and just go for it? :-/

I think I'm just gonna settle for a Bashed Patch unless someone changes my mind. I'm already very careful when installing mods so that they don't conflict. I could post my load order if it helps.

that's useless bullshit

it's that you have to check

most armors, npc, plants... mods aren't concerned, but some are, so you check before failing

Thank you for being straightforward. This is what needed to read to be a hundred-percent sure.
