Ryanhabs Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I received an email from a friend taking care of my dogs while I'm out of town letting me know some sorry sack of shit shot my dog and killed him today. What gets me about this is all of my neighbors know my dogs and know he is never any trouble. Hell, they know if they just yell "go home, bear." at him he will infact run right to my front door. There was no need to shoot him and he deserved a better end than what he received. It's actions like the one I just described that has my faith in humanity all but lost. I'll miss you Bear buddy. R.I.P

I mean I have my parents and my brother but they live a decent distance from me. Its worse that I'm here in Japan atm and cant be there to bury my buddy.

Since I believe you to be a proffesional gentleman that your home is in a "nice" respectable neighbourhood which makes it all the more strange and horrid. A mate of mine lost one of his lurchers this way some years ago. He lived on the Welsh borders and a farmer nearby shot his dog claiming he was "worrying" his sheep. The dog was brought up with sheep as my pal also kept them and was well trained. I'm not a dog owner myself and have therefore not experienced that special bond that only dog owners have, but I loath senseless violence of any kind. I can only imagine what you are suffering now. Sometimes I dispair of humanity. My thoughts are with you, Ryanhabs.

(as I live in the south some things are confusing... my backyard is the side facing away from the lake.) A lake covers my front yard. As for neighbors... Their are none that are super close, my home kindof sits by itself. All my neighbors know my dogs as I run with thim every morning when I'm home. They are all so well behaved that I don't even have to put them on a leash they will stay right by me and they never wander. My guess is the friend that was feeding them and making sure they have water opened the door and Bear probably thought it was time to go for a run. They said he took off running and they tried to call him but he wouldn't turn and come back. This may sound harsh in itself but I hope the person that shot him suffers somehow. Actions like this are unnecessary and domesticated animals such as dogs and cats (if trained properly) are only there to care for and about their human counterparts. Since I have nothing better to do with my time, when I get back home I plan on using all community influance and whatever money it takes to find out who shot him. When I do it won't take long and that person will have his house for sale. I have already gotten about 12 emails from neighbors saying the sympathize and telling me what they know as far as what happened.
HanPL Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Sorry for your loss. My father hobby is hunting so from what I know if it was hunter who shoot your dog then there is not much you can do right now. If hunter spots dog that runs around without dog leash or dog muzze he have right to shoot him as a stray dog.(at least they can do it in Poland ) If it was not hunter then some S.O.B wanted to make you suffer.
Ryanhabs Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 It wasn't a hunter, The area surrounding my my community is a game preserve. Theres no hunting allowed with in 30 miles in any direction. I think since the lake I live on is a popular summer vacation spot it was some kids down with their parents for the week or something. One of my neighbors said in their email that they noticed a lot of 4 wheelers running all over for the past few days and the kids riding them have been tearing up the main roads. (All the roads around my home are sand / dirt combination.) If thats the case, I own the woods that they tend to ride through all the time. I'll have someone stretch a metal cable across the path just low enough to hook the front axle of the atv's. It wont kill anyone but it will put a serious hurting on them.

We don't need those types of people around here. I have over 30 emails now from the people around my home sending sympathies and letting me know they have all been asking around about who did it. also making sure everyone knows who's dog it was. I have a bit of pull around that area and I don't care if I have to call in ever favor anyone owes me. I'll find the person that did it and he won't live in this area much longer. Small towns have a way of pushing the unwanted out.

At least I'm relieved to hear that your local community is being supportive, and that the killer is going to face the obvious consequences (I agree with Nightwynd though, you should also bring the long arm of the law down - and hard - on the culprit).

One of my neighbors emailed me that he knows who did it and they will tell me when I get back so I enjoy the rest of my time here. They also said whatever I decide to do with this asshole, the rest of the community has my back.

I remember as a kid in elementary school how horrible it felt to lose a cat... to the bus driver. Over my first 5 years of school I lost 5 cats to the same bus driver, a crazy jamaican woman who constantly was on her cellphone. She showed no remorse, not even when she saw the co... nevermind. At least then I couldn't remember much. I'm truly sorry.

We (as in the community) know who is responsible and its such an amazing thing that 2 of the houses near the culprit's home have brand new spot lights that come on just as the sun sets and stay on all night. sadly, the light need to be adjusted as they shine right at the guys windows. Specifically the bedrooms. Also some vandals have shown up and dumped trash all over his lawn 3 days in a row now. One of them went as far as to leave a note spray painted on his grass with round up saying "go away." The cops were over there this morning, they told me they told him there isn't much they can do. See the cops told me this when left his place and came up to my home to laugh with me about whats happening to his lovely home here in such a nice community.

Atleast the culprit will understand his barbaric action for killing your buddy. justice has been served on a golden platter and i hope it eases the pain somewhat. I'm speaking of experience as my dogs were shot to dead while preventing theft few years ago.

I just want to push him out slowly. Cant just go all "Rock Ridge" on him and whip up a "number 6" like in Blazing Saddles. Besides He has a little girl that is only with him on the weekends, I don't want anything done when she is there. I may want him gone, but I'm no monster. I don't want that kid getting scared or anything.

I lost a much loved canine family member last year. I can only imagine how much worse it is when the loss is due to some bastard's ignorance and creulty. Sending both you and Bear positive vibes. R.
