Character constantly 'T-poses' when using FNIS with Mod Organizer

Recommended Posts

so, i recently installed a couple of animation mods using MO and FNIS. i installed stuff like Devious Devices, Sexlab and a couple of other mods. i installed them as follows: i enabled the mods that needed FNIS in MO, ran FNIS and updated the FNIS Behavior (with GENDER and SKELETON patches), installed the file's from the Overwrite folder in MO, enabled them and tried them. if i did anything wrong, let me know. anyway, when trying the animations my character kept T-posing. the vanilla animations worked just fine (like walking, running, jumping, etc.), but the ones added by FNIS, DD, SL or any other mods just simply made my character T-pose. i tried nearly everything, from searching through the forums to running FNIS in a different way. i also went to the FNIS page to see if that would help me in any way, but the only thing that i could find is that the author has stopped using MO himself/herself, which means that support is dropped and that i should use NMM instead which i would rather not do. it's not that i don't like NMM or so, i just like the comfort of MO and being able to use the functions of MO. i would mind too much going back and forward for installing animation mods, but i think that that would get annoying eventually.

can anybody help me with my problem? i have updated my FNIS behavior multiple time and it still doesn't work as intended. if the only solution for my problem NMM is i'll accept it and try to make it work, but an alternative way to make it work with MO would of course be very handy. if there is anything that isn't included but certainly needed to include to solve my problem just say it and i will post it (if i of course can find it)

FNIS works fine through mod organizer.  Take a look at the STEP link in my sig for instructions using FNIS through MO.  In addition, you may want to post the FNIS output, it may shed some light on the problem.  Right-click in the top are where the results are displayed in the Generator, select all, copy, then paste into a post (using spoiler tags:  [ spoiler ] FNIS output [ /spoiler ]  - remove the spaces from the tags to use).  Or save as a text file an attach it.

thank you so much for the quick reply :D

For me FNIS and MO were never working together.

My solution is Quick & Dirty, and works for me all the times, also if it is not orthodox.

Install FNIS directly in the game folder, so you will have Skyrim\Data\Tools\, not using MO to install it.

Then in MO just add the FNIS executable (the wells icon on the top), and browse GenerateFNISForUsers.

Then run FNIS from MO with the new icon you will get in the drop down.

And, no, creating a mod from the overwrite files is useless.

Posted

Are you converting your overwrite folder to a mod called FNISOutput, and enabling it?

i think, yes. every time i update the behavior i create a new mod out of the file's that FNIS has put into my Overwrite folder and enable that as well as FNIS itself.

thankfully, this looks like it has worked. i tried this, updated FNIS and installed the file's from Overwrite. i did a little test run and at least ZaZ animations is up and running properly now. i didn't have a chance to try DD though, so i don't know if this has properly fixed my problems. i will report back if it all works properly ;)

ok, i did 3 test runs, the first one had ZaZ up and running but DD and SL not, the second run however had all three of them running and had the T-pose problem again and the last run i tried entering the ZaZ esp using the additem menu mod which upon opening made my game crash. this thankfully helps to clear things up a bit because i now know that the problem is either in DD or in SL.

edit: i also have a couple of HDT mods running, could it be that those conflict in one way or another?

looks like you're a first time user of FNIS. did you realize you need to run the exe as administrator the first time you run it? and you NEED to run it that first time from it's own windows directory...

btw, your fnis output talks about how you have ZERO gender stuff, so uncheck your 'gender' box and just go with skeleton arm fix

first off, i have used FNIS before but have always had some anim bugs in my game with it. with that out of the way, no i have never installed it and opened it with admin-privilage's, i used the guide that Gopher has provided to install FNIS and never had the problem of it not wanting to open because i don't have the right privilage's (which Gopher explains in his vid). i know i have no gender specific mods, but while going around a couple of forums i found out that it is reccomended to enable it even if i don't have any, so i don't bother keeping it on. i am now trying to get LOOT and TES5Edit and see if those can help me fix my problem because i don't think my load order is correct and according to LOOT there are a couple of mods that need cleaning.

*thinks*

well, honestly, i've always found my personal experience with FNIS troubles to be installation order. that's why i love MO. I'd be like "okay, effing Tpose, eh? well, let's try experimenting putting FNIS here in the install order (left pane MO) *restart* eff *rinse lather repeat*" (although i'm pretty freaking sure Tpose is an improperly generated fnis??)

*snip*

sorry, i digress. i think what CPU is trying to tell you is that if you do it his way you shouldn't GET any overwrite files ...amirite, cpu?

Nope, as soon as you run FNIS inside MO, then the overwrite files are generated.

It is just useless to create a mod for them.

FNIS mods First Aid Instructions for Mod Organizer users

MO is a very intelligent and helpful mod manager, and makes many things so easy. But it also includes some traps that are very nasty. FNIS has a lot of error and warnning checks, right? But due to the structure of MO, FNIS is rather helpless against these pit-falls. So if you experience unexplainable usage problems with FNIS mods under Mod Organizer, then check and do the following steps.

  • Remove the following files and folders (necessary only once)

meshes/animation*.txt
meshes/actors/character/behaviors
meshes/actors/character/animations/*FNIS* (folders)
scripts/*FNIS*.pex
(Explanation: these remnant files are from the time when you used NMM or manual install. In case you make make a mistake using FNIS under MO, they can make you believe that everything is in shape and render FNIS checks useless)

  • In the left MO pane, have you unticked the FNIS Overwrite mod before running FNIS?
  • You didn't forget to run FNIS, did you? :)
  • Have you taken care of ALL warnings and especially ERRORS in the FNIS generator window?
  • After FNIS generation, did you create an FNIS Overwrite mod (called "FNIS Output", for example)
  • PCEA2: did you check meshes/actors/character/animations/FNIS_PCEA2/PCEA2_Overview.txt to see what is actually included?
  • Did you tick "FNIS Output" in the left pane before starting "SKSE"?
  • When the game starts, you didn't get any error message boxes which you simply clicked off?
  • If you have run your current save already with an older version of the FNIS mod: did you make a clean(ed) save? Especially when the old version has had issues.

If made all this, and you still have (strange) issues
  • Post your problem in the FNIS POSTS thread (I will NOT help by pm)
  • Add the text of the generator output to your report
  • And PLEASE: make a PRECISE description of your problem, including an example I can try to reproduce. I can get very nasty on posts like "My animations don't work. Is there a fix?"

fore himself has had such trouble running MO under windows 10 (see his sticky post in comments on fnis nexus page) that he has stopped support of MO and recommends NMM.  i'd rather chew my arm off than go back to NMM, and i was smart enough NOT to install that stupid free windows 10.

The "overwrite" folder, by the MO's virtual directory system, is managed like a high priority mod.

In some cases you want to have its content better organized in real mods. But technically it is unnecessary.

In case Skyrim needs a file, the first check is the overwrite folder, then the loose files of mods folder, respecting their order, then bsa files inside mod folder per priority. Then the game\data\ fodler lose files, then the game\data\ bsa files.

Psychological reasons are out of question.

Again, it does not help, and at the same time it does not bring any harm.

So: do it if you like.

Question to OP.

Do you leave the files generated by Fnis in overwrite mod? You dont move them to one folder called "your chars name"?

Whit respect to others. My self have found that it is easy to install Fnis in MO, but you need to do it correct.

You get all kind of strange errors if you install it wrong.

The biggest problem whit installing Fnis in your Skyrim folder is that you cant use MO:s best thing, different profiles and set-up's.

So sorry CPU don't agree whit you.

My self cleans my overwrite all the time, put the files that the game generates, in the folder I have named to my char I play.

Have one for body and one for Fnis/SKSE settings.

Do notice that in your Fnis report you have support for creatures.

But in your load list I cant see any creature framework. Did I miss something there?

i have posted my LOADORDER, the list on the right. the list on the right only shows .esp's and .esm's which FNIS Creature's doesn't have. that explains why it is not seen in the load order i posted

also, a quick update: i have changed the order of my load order with LOOT, it was incorrect but it sadly still doesn't work. i was wondering if it could be Papyrus, i know that there is a mod to extend these scripts but i haven't installed it as of now, could this possibly fix my problem?

You have Fnis support for creatures through sexlab. That is what the report says. It should not be any problem if you dont start that part in sexlab.

You can install more nasty critters for more support.

yes it is that mod

also, HOLY F*CKING SHIT!!! IT WORKS AGAIN!! i left the FNIS file's in the Overwrite mod and edited FNIS using the 'First Aid Instructions' mentioned above. i did a little test run and (after being afk for a bit) tested some devices form ZaZ animations AND DDi, both of the animations (for the Armbinder) worked this time and didn't make my character T-pose :D. you can't imagine how relieved i am that it finally works.

edit: also nearly forgot it here, thanks to everyone who has replied to my topic :). without these topic's (i also made one on Steam and the Nexus forums) i could'nt have fixed my problem. a big thanks to you all ;).

I've run MO on Win10 for a long time now,

and there have never been and will never be any problem because of Win10.

-Atleast not for me.
