Possible Mod stealing

Hi guys,

 

Im not a modder myself, but I do have a great respect for all the modders, hence Im making this post.

 

I came across a video on youtube while i was searching for something else, and after checking it out, I've vided a website of the video provider.

 

It turns out that he is selling subscriptions to his website (no problem here) that allows watching uncensored gaming videos (skyrim) as well as download modpacks....

Here is my problem. Based on what I've seen so far, I have a feeling the guy is packing mods from this webiste as well as nexus, and use them to make profit on his own. As from what I've seen it does not look like he create any mods himself, but only packs other people mods in a bundle that he sells access too, no only he makes money out of it, but also I did not see that he give any credit to mod authors, nor he have any sort of page with permission from mod authors to do so.

 

of course this is just speculations, as I do not plan to buy a subscription to see what sort of mods he got in the packs, hence I didn't provide any details of the person or website.

 

Any advise what I can do to confirm this?

Best thing you can do is alert at least one of the mod creators, preferably the one with more reputation. That's about it really, and well, you could post it on a modding forum, but you already did this one.

I believe SkyrimGTX is in a similar situation regarding charging money for presets.  One of his websites was removed from the hosting company because of this....most mod authors make it a well known permission that no money can be charged but as the previous poster pointed out contact the original authors as they would the ones to make the case against the possible thief.

SkyrimGTX is called "SeriousPermissions" on LoversLab currently, in case someone hasn't noticed.

Or better yet let all of the modders that you know that are having their stuff uploaded this way so that they can all hit this person at the same time. More people hitting them with cease and desist/mod theft claims the better it will be. Having the one with the most reputation is fine but having as many modders as you can to hit the person is even better. Because more is almost always better.

 

Almost all modders will never agree to having their mods packaged into all in one packages.

Well i seen one website with not only Skyrim mods in pack for pay downloads, but Fallout NV and Oblivion mods as well.

Bhoff... if someone is THAT stupid to pay something that could get freely (and legally), without any support in case of trouble etc...

 

 

 

I mean, the guy still an asshole, but the best thing to do is simply spread voice and link the name of the site (that will be closed, renamed and re-opened elsewhere).

 

Anyway send one godzillion of mail to the asshole is pointless, the spam list exist for a reason...
