Sceadugengan Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Hi there! I'm currently playing an archer who loves to snipe. So most of the time I'm looking for a good sniping position with high ground and LOS to the targets. With the current arrow spawning location - which is at your feet and not at your bow - I've often trouble finding those spots. Do you know a fix or mod that changes where the arrows you shoot appear? I've tried to search for it but it seems google doesn't know the topic or I'm just trying the wrong key words D:
Content Consumer Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 If I understand correctly... I believe that unless you have a mod that's altering things, your arrow shoot point should be pretty much right in front of your bow. The problem that happens for me a lot is that the collision boxes for some things extend out well beyond the actual mesh. For example, at Dragontooth Crater, I used to try to get up on the cliff above the sleeping dragon down there to snipe him. However, the collision geometry for the rocks up there made shooting at him almost impossible. I'd let fly with an arrow with a very clear shot and it would end up hitting an invisible wall in front of my feet. This is a Bethesda problem, and I've seen it in Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim, and Fallout 4. I don't remember it happening at all in Morrowind, though. http://i.imgur.com/rcbR6.jpg http://daolpu.deviantart.com/art/Skyrim-Comic-Forsworn-conspiracy-273509788
Sceadugengan Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 Just now I tested where my arrows appear by positioning my character against some barrels and firing the bow at point blank range. I somewhat expected the arrow to be stuck near ground level, but it was actually around chest height. Seems like I was misinformed... Anyway, has someone got a miraculous fix or mod that gets rid off this stupid arrows beeing repelled by thin air?
Content Consumer Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I don't know if SMIM fixes that, but it might be worth a shot. Or any other mod that alters meshes may also alter the mesh's collision geometry. You could search for "collision" or "hitbox" mods maybe.
Sceadugengan Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 Well, most of the time I'm sneaking on plain ground, so I'd need a mod that edits the "hitbox" of Skyrim's grounds. But that mod is looking really nice and if I'm lucky the author also corrected the hitboxes along with the meshes. Having your arrow blocked by an invisible wall around a bowl on a table is just as annoying. Thanks for the link

I only play as an archer like my Member Title says * lonely Hunter *, I have often experienced that the arrow after the shot just fall down. but as I said, only in the squat!

I can't say I've ever tested it out that fully. Interesting...
chillshock Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 Talking about this: Could actually something like SMIM be causing it? Or some landscape overhaul?

chillshock Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 I can confirm: It's not smim. I guess more people would have noticed.
