evergrey Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 loving this mod and thanks for it a suggestion if i could do a human Fox or Cat hybrid race just cropping the ears off that fox and lion race and glueing them to humans or perhaps a new type of Modification tech that lets you modify existing humans and cross them with other races like gene splicing and all that also can you make the elves ears more prominent like using that sloth races ears
Dark Thoughts Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I think you underestimate a "little bit" how much work that would be. @Nessa: Is this your work? lol I immediately thought about those empty categories in the appearance menu when I saw that which I'm pretty sure come with your mod.
Nessa Posted July 19, 2016 Author Posted July 19, 2016 @evergrey I made my own elf ears for these guys and it was a bear getting them to poke through hair. (You have to be very precise or you can see through the ear part to the background behind the character!) Paradox is all over the place with their art assets too. Everything is a different size and nothing lines up so you have to figure out what their original setup was before you can do a thing. (Naturally guys are totally different from girls regarding hair.) I don't know what Paradox's workflow is but I hope it's more organized than it -looks-. Which... is a long way of saying: I probably won't be doing anything aside from elves for Stellaris. @HateMe Shouldn't be, the empty categories are removed from random circulation. Otherwise we'd be seeing empty suits for randomly generated species as well. Sentinels are randomly generated from existing valid species just like everything else. (I think, I've yet to see the Sentinels in a single game. But I did "run into" them while looking through various files.) There are actually quite a few species that don't have portraits the only difference is that "Ilythiiri" must be player selectable otherwise we don't get access to the extra ship style and city style. In my case, I also use Pirate and Ancient ship mods which also have empty portrait slots. No empty suits yet... but then I haven't run into the Sentinels yet either! Next version will have general randomization turned off. I've been playing a new game with elves and drow active. Neither are taking over the galaxy. There are only two minor issues: No un-sentients. Which is probably fine, elfies are sentient anyway. There will -always- be an elfy/drow fallen empire if you play on a larger galaxy. This is because the game will pick one of each fallen type on larger maps. That will include drow and elves. Mods that add additional fallen empires or that make maps even larger may include multiple elf/drow fallens. Not sure on that as I haven't used any yet. The advantages seem to outweigh that problem however. I can now specify exactly what type of traits the pre-FTL elf civs get. So everybody has some form of the "elven" trait. Also, if you run into a pre-FTL elf/drow civ, they are a bonus because they have pretty good traits. Oh yeah, and... I kind of made the Drow fallen empire a bit nasty by accident. They get 2 full ringworlds instead of the usual 1. I was going to fix it but.... OUCH.
Nessa Posted July 19, 2016 Author Posted July 19, 2016 @HateMe again... You know, what was your active mod list when you ran into Mr. Headless? This bears investigation!
Nessa Posted July 20, 2016 Author Posted July 20, 2016 It's U time again! City styles redone! General randomization is now off! (No more pre-sentients, no more Drow everywhere!) Fallen empires: 1/4 chance for small maps. 100% chance for large maps! Pre-FTLs are now generated using system initializers. Smaller maps have fewer, larger maps have -all- of them. Still tweaking the proper percentages for the pre-FTLs. Let me know if anybody thinks there are too many or too few drow running amok. Also, nothing I can do about Drow -definitely- showing up as fallens on larger maps. If there are 4 or more fallen empires, Drow will -always- be picked. Oh... and watch out for the Drow fallen. It's... a bit nastier than the others. (An accident on my part that I liked so I didn't fix it. )
PervBird Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 I like the re-designs on ships and cities, but would love not to see the NPC Empires. Is there a quick way to remove them or refuse their spawning? More importantly, since the Space Elves Thread already has a :-) on its thread, I propose that the Drow, who, as we know, are more likely to be evil get a >:-) instead.
Nessa Posted July 21, 2016 Author Posted July 21, 2016 NOT SPAWN THE ILYTHIIRI TULSHAR!?? MANY UGLY HUMANS WILL DIE FOR THIS INSOLENCE! Yes actually. Just edit each empire, -do not- change the name, and then set your edited version to never spawn. You'll still run into pre-FTL drow and fallen empire drow. (Presently. Randomized Drow civs are coming in a future version.) Oh yeah, and you're right about the smiley. I'll fix it next update!
