Not for Drow but I did decide (I think) on a color scheme for the elf ships at least.

Redoing Avian in a another color sounded boring.

 

Should be a new update for Drow coming... "soon". (Might be tonight actually.)

Pretty much done with the Elves. (Or rather, I'm about done with modding Stellaris! laugh.png) Opted for mix and matching ships rather than just recoloring something. A lot of the fallen style ships are very elf-like. (Wish I'd thought of that for the Drow! A dark variety of these would be nice.)

Latest:

  • 7 new guy outfits, 2 for girls
  • Reworked all assets to get rid of unnecessary mips. Sadly, this doesn't seem to affect the "Edit civ crash" problem. I'm still at a loss what causes it at the moment. To get the crash, start up the game, edit a pre-existing civ, click on appearance. Crashes me every time. But if I make a new race, then go back and edit, no crash. confused.gif
  • 2 new prescripted civs. Children of Eilistraee: peaceful-ish Drow that seem to shed clothes. laugh.png Ilythiiri Tulshar (drow for empire), these are the Drow you'd expect, ready to kill everything on sight. biggrin.png Both are currently set to -always- appear in a new game. This will not be the case -if- you play as one of them. (I can set this to -maybe- show up if people prefer.)
  • 2 new system starts. Eilistraee: binary star system (why aren't there more of these!???) with a gaia paradise world. Drow Tulshar start: you begin as the last surviving section of a ring world. (The idea being the real drow lived on a ring world that went boom for some reason.) Since both of these starts are better (to put it mildly) than the standard vanilla starts, I did not include randomized nearby systems that wondrously have planets your civ would love to colonize. So you're on your own with these starts. Everything will be random. If this ends up being too annoying I can change it.
  • Alas, the last surviving instance of Trump hair has now been squashed. *sniff* laugh.png
  • Rulers for girls at least now have randomized clothing. (Before it was just one outfit per ruler type. Guys will be in a future update.)

 

Wrote a quick bio for the nasty Drow. Nothing yet for the Eilistraee group as I'm not sure how well they're going to work out yet.

 

Might release the elves pretty soon. But I have a few things to do first. Mainly: get some more elfy instead of drowy style clothing. Also, might just wait till 1.2 for them. I have a feeling the update will break all of this. blush.gif

 

NOTE: For whatever reason I couldn't upload the file as usual, so it's currently hosted at Mega. If people have issues getting it, let me know.

And I'll mention it here too: it would -appear- 1.2 is compatible with this mod as-is. I'm about to play a new game using 1.2 so we'll find out soon enough. If anybody runs into any 1.2 issues, please mention it here. (Or in the Space Elves topic! laugh.png)

Forgot to report that before, so this is for the version before the current one; but whenever someone insulted me it showed just "(insult)" instead of the actual insult they're supposed to say.

That's not all. For reasons I -cannot- figure out, suddenly none of the solar system starts are working. I mean, they work, except the stupid player planet is randomized to ideal_planet_class instead of what I specify in the system initializer. Not too big a deal, right? Yeah, until you want to make a ringworld start planet! It happily makes the ringworld and then turns the player start planet into -an actual planet- instead of a ringworld.

 

Then I thought, maybe it's just -MY- solar system initializers. So I grabbed a bunch of solar system mods. They all do the same thing. Now I'm wondering if changing the starting planet is going to be possible at all going forward.

 

UGH.

 

For insults, I think I can fix that one at least. I'll come up with some suitably Drowy insults and add them to the localisation file. Drow insults are a lot of fun! laugh.png

Fixed the insults for the next update. laugh.png Still have some work to do for customized Drow insults however. At least now it -shouldn't- display (insult) instead of... an insult biggrin.png anymore.

 

Still -no idea- what to do for the starting worlds. I've tried all sorts of tricks. It's almost like they hard coded it now to switch to ideal_planet_class. The last thing I can think of is a hidden event that swaps the homeworld to the proper type at the start of the game. That does seem like a lot of work for something that should be working as it used to however. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if anybody finds a solution. All of the solar system start mods are currently affected by this.

And... looks like I'll be delaying that new game for a bit. Turns out the person I play with (as well as myself) have about zero interest in starting a new game without some of the technology mods that are out there. All of which need to be updated to 1.2 thanks to some major changes. (Not being able to fix destroyed ring worlds is BORING. laugh.png) Still if anybody finds issues, please do mention them here!! I won't be trying out my own mod for a bit. undecided.gif

 

Note: There is a console solution for the ringworld. Go ahead and startup as normal. Then click on your world-in-the-middle-of-a-ring-world, open the console and type "planet_class pc_ringworld_habitable". That will swap your stupid planet back to what it should be.

The latest (so far) seems to suggest 1.2 has changed matters so that you can't actually start on a world that isn't your starting class. Thanks Paradox.

 

However, I don't like conceding to stupidity so I'm going to go ahead with the event idea. That should work no matter what Paradox decides to mess up in new versions. laugh.png

Update!!

 

  • *drum roll* Fixed custom starts! *grumbles about Paradox* I used a hidden event that fires when you hit the "begin" button at the start of a game. If you've chosen the Eilistraee or Tulshar homeworld start, the event will fire changing your homeworld to what it was originally intended. And yes, this was a big fat annoyance when it used to work just fine in all previous versions...
  • Fixed the various errors related to ship particles. All this means is you get to see -more- tiny emitters if you zoom WAAAY in to look at the ships.
  • A couple new outfits for everybody.
  • And a bunch of other stuff I forgot because of the hassle dealing with the homeworld starts. laugh.pnglaugh.png

I might.. Just might.. Have gone into the files and.. Umm.. Limited the selection of clothing. And.. All hail the Drow Matriarchy?

I also have wanted to try to make a crusading kind of play through with the focus of tributary states.. So I guess I could kick up the Knight Elves! Time to make the lesser races cough up the dough for war material!

I d/led and installed both mods and loaded two different drow based games just to make sure everything fired right, havent played them long enough to run into much but the first one I ran into two totally stellaris-normal random generics.

I can't check mod files right now, but I'm pretty sure you put Drows and Elves in a new group, right? The game is set to pull new races from the groups equally, so that's why there are so many elven kind in the galaxy.

I can't check mod files right now, but I'm pretty sure you put Drows and Elves in a new group, right? The game is set to pull new races from the groups equally, so that's why there are so many elven kind in the galaxy.

 

 

Is THAT how it does it? I suppose I could put them in the mammilian group. However.... I kind of like running into elves all over the place personally. laugh.png  Only thing I haven't seen yet is an elf stagnant... ascendancy civ. I may have to add something... somewhere to get that to work.

 

From a modding perspective it would probably work better to have Elves and Drow in one mod, then I can make them hate each other. Well, more than they already do. It appears that races from different groups (i.e. mammlian, drow, elf, etc.) all find each other alien anyway. In my latest game I'm finding that I tend to get along with other drow and the elves tend to want to attack.

 

Anybody else having some wonky stuff happen with 1.2? Like....  I got an invitation for a vote -several- times to attack a nation I couldn't reach.... from a nation I was NOT allied with! confused.gif

Also had some weird stuff with the anomalies. Like the one about the cult. The text would say it was -my- nation that was attacking itself.

 

And.... I'm not certain yet, but it would seem that my random clothes selection for rulers is no longer functioning. I didn't change anything for 1.2 so maybe I have some more edits to do there.

On another note, I initially thought that there may not be much point in CK2 style stuff but I'm changing my mind on that. The event system is pretty similar (if not the same). Especially with elves/drow given their long lifespan, I could see many sorts of event type quests that would help make the game more interesting. Especially mid-game, it can get boring if you aren't at war or trying to keep your empire together.

 

Now that I've got a handle on how to do events (thanks to the stupid starts not working) I'm toying around with the idea of finishing the Drow empire story with an actual event plot. Randomized of course. biggrin.png Probably mid to late game would be best.

I'd consider also repairing the ring world but there ... -were- several mods that allowed you to do that in 1.1.*. The main one I used still hasn't been update for 1.2 (last I checked). Been using Alpha mod in the meantime, and I do like the asteroid feature. (But I can't make my spaceports into fortresses anymore. Annoying. laugh.png)

Well OK, but they should restrict it to going to wars with empires that I can actually reach and aren't on the other end of the galaxy. laugh.png Dumb thing is, I couldn't even reach the empire that was asking me to go to war either. Although... they were Drow... laugh.png

Update!

 

  • Fixed the random clothes for rulers issue. (I was missing an or statement!)
  • Fixed the long hair alpha problem. (This issue is present on -vanilla- long hair as well. Oh well, sucks to be human. laugh.png )
  • Guy hairs!! Finally got some love. Real black colors added, and all hairs now properly handle guy elf ears.
  • Doing my first experiment with jewelry. (Pic in the screenies section.) Only nakey version at the moment.
  • And... my first experiments with crowns and earrings as well. Only one hairstyle at the moment. If this works out, I'll extend it to all hairstyles. (Meaning all hairstyles get another version with a crown.)
  • And of course, new outfits. (Didn't bother taking screenies this time however.)

It was the precursor stuff that got me thinking about it. (Now with 1.2 I FINALLY managed to finish that event chain!! Or.. one of them. I see there are 4 from the files anyway.) In the case of the Drow, the player could find out what caused most of the ring world to blow up. cool.gif
