Darkening Demise Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 https://www.thesims.com/en_AU/news/sims-4-dine-out-news?utm_campaign=sims4_hd_ww_ic_soco_yt_gp3-yt-official&utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&cid=4339&ts=1463511303450 https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=32&v=05pggv8AcwE There's no sign of new neighborhoods so get ready to delete your homes, Sims, and other community lots to make room (yay EA!) for the ability to build and own a restaurant. It will be released June 7th, $20 USD. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I just hope it gets a digital code on Amazon like the rest of the DLC and base game since I get Amazon gift cards through surveys. You just build and hire useless broken NPCs just like in Get To Work. You cannot work there and just stand around doing nothing looking like a fucking moron. Confirmed. I'm done with The Sims. What a dick move. Typical EA.
Khlas Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Sims 2 did better with restaurants. Seriously just throw your Sims 4 in your trash.
Eksclusiv Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Looking great. Can't wait for the release. Don't know how you guys feel but I have been very satisfied with the content so far. Same goes of course for almost everything EA published (well, to be fair, Mass Effect and The Sims are by far my most favourite games, however, I also like Battlefield so I can't complain too much here) to this date.
Darkening Demise Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 The basis of the pack is you go to a restaurant and eat then leave. Or you can build, buy, and go there and watch the restaurant 'perform' but you can't work as a chef, waiter, or hostess you just stand around. There will be critics (most likely amateur Yelpers a la South Park You're Not Yelping). Hope they like a queefy quarter pounder! But yeah that's basically it, nothing else for $20 other than Get To Work minus the ability to actually do any work and just stand around and watch or go to a restaurant. ............................................________....................................,.-'"...................``~.,.............................,.-"..................................."-.,.........................,/...............................................":,.....................,?......................................................,.................../...........................................................,}................./......................................................,:`^`..}.............../...................................................,:"........./..............?.....__.........................................:`.........../............./__.(....."~-,_..............................,:`........../.........../(_...."~,_........"~,_....................,:`........_/..........{.._$;_......"=,_......."-,_.......,.-~-,},.~";/....}...........((.....*~_......."=-._......";,,./`..../"............../...,,,___.`~,......"~.,....................`.....}............../............(....`=-,,.......`........................(......;_,,-"............/.`~,......`-...................................../.............`~.*-,.....................................|,./.....,__,,_..........}.>-._...................................|..............`=~-,.....`=~-,__......`,....................................................`=~-,,.,...............................................................`:,,...........................`..............__.....................................`=-,...................,%`>--==``........................................_..........._,-%.......`...................................,
Ghost Anubis Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Sims 4 was just a complete disappointment all around to me. From somebody who loved & played a lot of sims 3. Without all the sex stuff here on LL, the game itself was just fun. I was excited for Sims 4 when I heard about it, but after learning more I never even got the game. Sims 2 & 3 are the way to go imo. Also, EA has always offered things overpriced with little content (there were a lot in sims 3 as well) fuck Sims 4.
Arhon Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Sims 3 is the way to go for me honestly. Sims 4 has kind of better graphics but.. less content in my eyes. I hope if they ever do Sims 5 they dont mess it up like they did with Sims 4.
heat2008 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 The Sims 4 kind of sucks. The only good thing about it is the graphics and maybe the ability to multitask, but other than that, pure shit. I've been hoping for improvements, hoping so very much, but nothing. All I can say is I'm glad I didn't buy it, hell, it's almost not even worth getting it for free.

I've been hoping for improvements, hoping so very much, but nothing. All I can say is I'm glad I didn't buy it, hell, it's almost not even worth getting it for free. Hm, dunno. I kind of feel the opposite. After experiencing TS4 (where for the first time I don't need any mods besides the obligatory "time-mod" to play the game) I just could not go back to TS3/TS2 again (although both games were heavily modded; TS3 more of course). The gameplay, the graphics, everything is just so smooth and plays out really nicely. Granded: When I first played it the loading screens were very irritating and almost game breaking but luckily I got used to them and I can see the benefits of the efficient allocation of resources within a smaller sandbox now. Means: I don't want the open world to come back in TS5 either.
Eksclusiv Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Don't get me wrong: I love all TS games (luckily) but TS4 right now is my favourite game of all. Allow me this little video comparison which illustrates what I mean. I really tried to make it as accurate as possible since I looked for videos where in both cases the game was out for a year with one expansion pack released. BOTH VIDEOS WERE RECORDED AFTER EACH GAME WAS RELATEVELY NEW ON THE MARKET Also I choose a party as context because it's a perfect opportunity for the game to show off its mechanics (AI = how it handles many sims in one spot and can it simulate their behavior in a "natural" way, in other words: testing the complexity of behavior, e.g. in case of TS4 --> emotions + multi-tasking, sims not doing everything the same way etc.) and how (if at all) immersive it can present them. So basically: 2 videos, identical context and prerequisite(s): Sims 3: Sims 4: --- Sims 4 plays out so real and life-like, it's almost scary. Sims 3, however, not so much...

While you're entitled to your opinion, if you like Sims 4 then more power to you. It takes more then improving the AI to make it a good game. Sims 4 didn't do everything wrong, they did make some improvements, but it's a 1 step forward 3 steps back kind of game.
Eksclusiv Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 [...] but it's a 1 step forward 3 steps back kind of game. You see, I feel different about this now, the opposite to be honest. Why I say now? Well, because my first reaction towards TS4 was very negative after its release and I have to admit that I really needed some time to adapt my playstyle to fully enjoy TS4 and to recognize its strong parts and where it truly shines. I was "trapped" in my TS3 playstyle for quite a while. Today it's my favourite game of all games I've played since I started to play videogames in the 80's. In the end it's a question of taste and nothing more; so I can somewhat understand people who can't enjoy TS4 (same goes for those who hate TS3 etc). There is nothing wrong with that.
Khlas Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Sims 4 plays out so real and life-like, it's almost scary. Sims 3, however, not so much... Oh you're right, Sims 4 plays out so real with his teen boys with the same height than young adult/adult/elder and baby that grow up directly to a young boy like magic. In real life, when I go to work I just disappear. I don't need a car since In real life there is something called loading time whenever I want to go somewhere. In real life, when there are fire in my house, I can't do anything, I just leave my house like everyone else with a large smile in my face. I have to wait for the fire to disappear since firefighters, even if needed, are just not there. In real life, when someone die, I just don't care. I have to go to the grave of the dead people to be sad. If I don't do this, I just... Don't care? Yeah I still get this big smile in my face. When I go outside, everyone are the same, I see pony everywhere and rainbows in the sky. It's so colorful that it's like I'm in a cartoon. Maybe the life is a joke after all. /sarcasm end
Eksclusiv Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Nah, I was referring to the videos I posted. Of course TS has never been a series which wanted to be exactly like real life. I was pointing out that the behavior (complexity due to emotions + multi-tasking etc.) of the sims is making them very "alive" compared to for example TS3.
Khlas Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Nah, I was referring to the videos I posted. Of course TS has never been a series which wanted to be exactly like real life. I was pointing out that the behavior (complexity due to emotions + multi-tasking etc.) of the sims is making them very "alive" compared to for example TS3. I don't agree about emotions but it's somewhat true with multitasking. In fact it's "alive" because the game is halved about the major features from previous versions. It's really easy to run Sims 4 with old computers and since there are no open world or such things it's really easy for the engine to generate more sims in 1 lot. (But in my sims 4 game, when I go somewhere, its always the same sims I see). Sims 3 more you have sims in your world more the world/lots are alive, even if mods can help. From my savegame, currently I don't have this issue, lots are always with more than 8 sims since I have a lot of sims in the world I playing. The emotions are still there and are nicely done imo. In Sims 4, they are just over-exagerated. But I guess it's because EA want to do something more "childish" and not so serious with this version. I understand why you love Sims 4, I tried but I failed miserably. It's just not for me, I just miss too much the core features from previous versions.
Eksclusiv Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Yeah, it's funny how two iterations of the same series/game in the exact same genre can be interpreted differently by their developers. Their interpretation and new design choices gave TS4 a new feeling. And due to the shifted focus (from a town simulation to a single sim simulation) it seems to me almost like as if it was a completely different game (which is not necessarily a bad thing). It's true that lots in TS3 can become crowded as well. But the game still has its problems to handle many sims on one spot --> walking errors, sims get stuck etc. But when I was talking about the game feeling "alive" I actually didn't mean the amount of sims on venues /lots (although this is another important aspect of the engine) but how (!) the Sims interact with each other (here are emotions really important 'cause diversity in animations is an important factor when it comes to immersion). If you compare both videos with each other you can see what I mean. However, of course everybody will value such a thing differently. Some people need for example "toddlers" or shorter teens and an open world to enjoy a life-sim game (which is legit), others will prioritize other things or just adapt.
Darkening Demise Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 TS4 Sims are EMO Drama Queen Bipolar Teenage Girls. Emotion system is so screwed up and annoying it ruins the gameplay. Just one little thing and then they're embarrassed, all of them, no matter their traits, as traits don't function properly unlike in TS3 where they did work right and made Sims behave differently. TS4 Sims only behave differently via the walk style that you chose for their default walk. Otherwise with all the generics randomly spawning in the world its impossible to really enjoy anything as they get culled soon enough as the population limit is then reached. Not to mention parties are shorter in TS4 without mods and you have goals otherwise your party cannot be a success or fail as nothing is said unlike in the past such as TS3 where you had no goals and just threw a party and based on what goes on and the guests invited would determine the enjoyment they had giving you the results in the end. When it comes to free will Sims in TS4 are terrible! They always go after the fridge when their hunger barely drops and waste several hundred Simoleons for something they do not need, always fight over who gets on the computer, always group chat, always hug, and never do what you tell them as they cancel that action in exchange to dance to a stereo (thanks GT) or get on a computer to troll on teh forums. Speaking of which troll on teh forums is another issue NEVER addressed (they're too busy milking the shitty game via DLC a la Stuff Packs coming out nearly every month) so enjoy playing with multitasking where your Sim eat while pooping and then getting on their phone with the plate on their hand. When you want to talk to someone EVERYONE must join in, you cannot kick them out otherwise you end up cancelling the chat with everyone including the first person you were originally talking to. Oh got to LOVE going on dates where you MUST complete goals otherwise you fail (and the time given is short) and if you fail guess what? They HATE you afterwards. The Sims 4 was originally The Sims Online 2, but was canned halfway through development after the disaster of SimCity 2013. They then used the assets they had to design a single player game a la TS4 on a MMO oriented engine. Except unlike other MMOs the world was tiny and closed off, the goal was to complete several tasks on a short timed basis with other players while experiencing bipolar mood swings. Ah yes TS4, originally a shit product and reconstructed as a shit product.
FzzyDg8 Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 I definitely agree with you on the game, it stinks and no amount of downloadable content could ever make me play it.
Eksclusiv Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Actually I like the emotion system a lot because I can use it to manipulate the outcome of every social encounter in my game (just think about the potential and possbilities for future kinky mods ^^ ). In TS2 and TS3 everything was more or less random and I missed some control over certain aspects of what is happening when I want to tell a story. Let me give you an example: I want two groups to get involved into a fight with each other. What I can do now: 1) Put them in a group/cloub and code my own AI for them through the brilliant club feature GT introduced and watch them fight all day long. OR 2) I can use emotions to trigger these actions due to the usage of for example decor items or special interactions. However, culling can be a problem - I can see that and I am not exactly pleased wth the way they attended to "fix" it. Just rising the cap is not doing much since it will also make the game load longer (more sims --> longer loading times). About the parties: They don't have goals if you disable prestige mode and they are not shorter but longer since time passes slower in TS4 (by 20%). About dates: Yeah, I kinda see that. Personally I like how they work but it's just me. For dating purposes you can always invite your sim out and do whatever you want. --- IMO TS4 is a masterpiece and I enjoy every second of this game. ^^
Dee383 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 NEWSFLASH EXCLUSIVE :Sims 5 Rumored To Has Less Content Than Sims 4 , EA Spokes Person Said : Some Sacrifices Had To Be Made So We Could Give You Back An Open World , If You Want All The Content We Removed ? You Can Buy It At EA.COM ....... SIMS 4 Would Have Probably Died A Long Time Ago If It Wasnt For The Modding Community Creating Content And Mods .. EA Why Not Give The Modding Community A Proper Set Of Game/Modding Tools So The Modding Community Can Do What You Obviously Cant .
