YoNanja Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Hi all. I recently reinstalled Skyrim after formatting my pc and am now building back up the game/mods.However I seem to be unable to install Sexlab inside the actual game,I click the install button in MCM and close the menu but nothing seems to happen after that, have been standing idle for upwards of 15mins without success.Feels like I'm missing something obvious so maybe someone here can help me out since I don't really understand Papyrus logs etc. I've reinstalled / redownloaded everything short of the actual game (annoying but will do it if I really have to), disabled all other mods in MO and stood idle in the game for what feels like hours. But the issue still persists no matter what I try... This Papyrus log is from a clean Skyrim with only Sexlab + prereqs, LAL and an ENB. And a new save ofcourse. YoNanja Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 Did you run FNIS and what is your mod-list? I did run FNIS and copied the generated files. Mods that were running during my latest attempt (which the Papyrus log is from), disabled everything else in MO: Skyrim.esm Update.esm Dawnguard.esm HearthFires.esm Dragonborn.esm Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.esp SexLab.esm FNIS.esp SkyUI.esp XPMSE.esp RaceMenu.esp RaceMenuPlugin.esp Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp That's it... oh and the ENB (Unbleak). And skse. when you start a game and go to mcm to boot it up give it a minute if youre unsure hit the tilly key "~" and itll pop up the console command and it will tell you if its being installed or done being installed after its good to go tweak the settings to your liking I checked the console (~) and it says the same thing every time SEXLAB - LOADED: Version 0 / 16101 SexLab MCM Loaded CurrentVerison: 16101 / 16101 But these lines are there as soon as I load the game ... nothing changes or updates after I click the install button and idle for a couple minutes,
YoNanja Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 Little update, I installed Sexlab 1.59c just to try it. Didn't change any other mods (still only using the bare minimum requirements).. and that version worked fine and installed within 20 seconds of loading the save. My problem seems to be not being able to install Sexlab v1.61b through the MCM.. the mod itself works fine I guess.. just for some weird reason the install doesn't work or the game doesn't seem to register me clicking the install button in the menu? Using latest version of SkyUI, redownloaded it and everything. This is driving me slightly crazy.
YoNanja Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 Well I managed to get it to work... tho I guess I'll never really know what the problem was... after struggling with this for days, and not changing anything.. it suddenly worked. So for anyone having this problem... The last thing I did, as I posted above, I installed Sexlab v1.59c, which instantly worked and installed itself without having to go into MCM. Then, without saving the game, I quit, disabled v1.59c in MO and enabled v1.61b, ran fnis, started the game, loaded any random savegame which I had tried about 20 times before and got the message that Sexlab v1.61b was being installed without even going into the MCM. After waiting about 15 seconds it said Sexlab v1.61b is ready for use, and indeed it was and everything works. Very bizarre seeing as this was a clean Skyrim install but I'm just happy I finally got it to work so... yay!
Aby32 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 Greetings from 2019. It looks like 1.62 is still broken for some unknown reason. I would love to thank you for this thread, because it is really hard to figure out how you can make it work. Here is step by step tutorial without using any Mod Organizers. It does not matter if you have previous version installed. Basically you just install 1.59 first and then override it with 1.62 1. Install all pre-required mods, including FNIS. 2. Download Sexlab v1.59c from here (thanks to SurpriseFatty for upload, I do not know why old build links are not provided by Devs). 3. Extract it in your Skyrim Data folder, override all. 4. Run FNIS. 5. Run Skyrim and make sure that SexLab.esm is active. 6. Load your game and wait for SexLab to install. It should install without going to MCM in ~30 seconds. 7. Save your game and exit. 8. Extract Sexlab 1.62 in Data folder, override all. 9. Run FNIS again. 10. Run Skyrim and load your save. Now you should see additional messages: Installed SexLab Expressions Installed SexLab Animations ... SexLab 1.62 is ready Thats it. 3
Jknight521 Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 I want to thank you, and those who helped you, for this post. I did everything u said but when I tried to use v 1.62 it went back and did the same thing so I am staying with v1.59 and hope that it all works 1
Clavicus_Smile Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 So, I'm having the same problem, and I tried to use the fix that was posted, but it actually made things worse. o_O It wound up changing some game settings, but more importantly, it just didn't fix the problem.

nononono5 Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 (edited) 2022 and still having the same issue with 1.63. Downloading 1.59c and installing it before the newer version did nothing for me. Edited August 6, 2022 by nononono5

Downloading 1.59c and installing it before the newer version did nothing for me. Wasn't 1.63 for SE only and 1.59c only for LE? For me, it refuses to install because of Simple Slavery Plus Plus. Uninstall that and it works fine. I am not sure what is wrong; normally Skyrim Utilities and POP would both be updated at the same time as SS++, but I cannot find recent versions of either mod so I think they were taken down or something. In any case, Sexlab will not work so long as I use SS++ 6.3.12 or higher.
ForsakenLucifer9 Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 HI everyone, I'm new to here and to modding and I had the same problem. I am not sure why but now my problem is solved by using SL 1.64c instead of 1.63, and my Address Library used is All in one (Anniversary Edition) from Nexus. Same goes when I install SKSE_64 for SE the mod tells me that I have AE instead of SE. Note that I only bought Skyrim SE not AE, the game itself advertises me about AE in the menu but some of the mod for SE cannot run on my game. Anyway try 1.64c instead and I hope that works on ur pc
Mitrusen Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Thanks to Forsaken's post. I discovered despite the version of my game I needed the AE version of the Address Library and Sexlab framework. I was mismatching before and getting either no install or a warning that a dll was incorrectly installed risking undesired outcomes when booting from SKSE loader. Installed fine once those two files were in alignment.
RedDAK Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 I think I figured it out. I have SE, but I also got the anniversary upgrade. SL SE gives me this problem, but SL AE does not. Make sure you have both SE and AE address libraries (you should be able to enable both regardless of what kind you actually have).
unluckyseven Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Hello from 2023! I am having this problem on Skyrim SE. Currently with 1.65, and the others currently posted on the download page, I get all the way to the additional messages mentioned in Aby32's post. But I never get to the "SexLab is ready" message. Something seems to be stuck in between the animations and the finish line. Not sure what do do from here, everything else is clearly working and even green check marked in game when I go to click the install button in MCM. (the mod does not start installing without me clicking install) If I use an earlier version of SexLab, (1.59 c) It loads up instantly, but my game npcs freeze, citing that SexLab needs a earlier version of Skyrim to function. Npcs not moving/animated etc. While waiting for the mod to load, the game seems to function fine. If anyone is out there with solutions, I'll be looking.

Yoreki Posted July 27, 2025 Posted July 27, 2025 Since this was one of the primary ressources that showed up when i was troubleshooting, i'll share how i got it to work. After hours of painstakingly trying, in hindsight, complete nonsense. I'm using the steam special edition. At the time of writing that is game version 1.6.1170.0 - you can check that by right clicking the .exe file and going to Properties -> Details. You probably have the same version, if you use the modern steam SE version. If so, skip the 1.59c trick above, as that's for the legendary version. Since this is my first time installing SexLab, or mostly anything complex mod-wise in Skyrim, i had no idea how it was supposed to look like. If you are like me and cant click the install button, check the left side. Next to the mod dependencies should be either green 'OK's or blue '?'s. If those are not there, you have the wrong version, plain and simple. The reason for this? You were probably like me and assumed you need the SE version (you know, since we use "Special Edition" and all that) from SexLab, and downloaded 1.63 - which is the wrong version. You possibly even tried the AE version (1.66) out of frustration, which didnt work either. Yeah, well.. the most up to date download file is at the bottom, not at the top. You need version 1.66b and it will work. At least i learned not to trust that the relevant stuff will be at the top lol.

Big letters, bold, red. SE and AE aren't accurate enough terms. The "most up to date" or "relevant stuff" isn't either. It must be a match for your version of the game. You have version X of the game executable, you must use version Y of SKSE and version Z of SL Framework or similar mods (basically any mod containing a DLL file compiled for a specific executable/SKSE release). Dont be an ass about it, i was just trying to help people and essentially made fun of myself in my own comment already. The description is very clear - but generally speaking, modding Skyrim is one confusing mess. Mods having dependency chains, where you need to install 50 mods to even test the one you are interrested in does not help, and the conventional naming scheme of calling anything from 1.6 onwards AE, despite people owning SE on Steam, but those mods being for the completely wrong version, is certainly not helpful. If you know you know. But you cant act like it's a not a horrible system to get into initially lol. Mistakes, which ultimately almost always are human error, are inevitable somewhere along the way. But i bet you never make mistakes^^

But i bet you never make mistakes^^ I'm not being an ass about this nor saying I never make mistakes. I'm saying the information you need to pick the correct file is right there in the description. I'm also commenting on what's the best practice to avoid mixing versions by using SE, AE or other inaccurate indicators. Use the exact version of your game executable. You didn't know this and had to guess which version of the file you really needed, despite the information available in the description. Now you know. It's not the first time I read about dependency chains, but honestly it's not that big of a deal. I guess if you're starting from nothing you'll have to install the essentials and that might seem like a lot. After a few dozen mods you should have all the frequent requirements covered. You didn't had the very frequently used requirements for a framework or mod prior to using said framework or mod. Now you do have them installed and can keep them installed, any time that requirements it's brought up by some other mod you don't need to worry about it.

I misunderstood your post then - english is not my native language. All good. And yeah, now i know.

Not to necro this, but im going through the same issue, no OKs or Blues, running 1.6.1170.0 and with 1.66b it STILL won't verify or install. I am a complete idiot, I had downloaded the GOG version. Double edit: its STILL not doing it, I freaking give up Edited August 8, 2025 by SwordDude04
