ChancellorKremlin Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 It kind of worries me that no one else seems to have brought this problem up, as its been happening with me for the better part of a week now. Â I am aware LL has gone through some changes recently, and that there are efforts being made to save up on costs (ie removing thumbnail pics, etc) so I am wondering if this is maybe part of the problem. Â Anyway, nearly every time I click refresh, or on a thread, or post, or try to just generally navigate the forum, it takes anywhere between 5-10 seconds for the next page to load. At fist, it was just a minor annoyance, and I thought the problem would resolve itself. But it keeps happening to me now. Â I can guarantee you its not my internet connection - I have an 12mb fibre optic connection, and this is the only website I am having trouble with. So I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, or if its something to do with the site. Â Thanks.
Chase Roxand Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 LL is fine for me. Could be a issue between LL's host and your ISP.
ChancellorKremlin Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 Yeah, I suspected it would be something related on my end because no one else is having the problem. Â Strangely, I've noticed closing Chrome (my broswer) and then re-starting it has it working like magic. However, as more time passes with the browser open, the page slowly gets slower and slower, and eventually nigh on unresponsive. It only happens HERE though, no other website I go on is affected. Â Anyone know any possible causes?
Ashal Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Pages load near instantly for me so it's hard for me to diagnose. Does it still load slow when your logged out? If not it may be something resource intensive about your account setup. If it still loads slow when logged out, my only other guess would be your ISP, the speed they claim to give you isn't the only determining factor. Â Try a public DNS server instead of your ISPs default, https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/ or http://www.opendns.com/
thesapien Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 A month ago, there was a thread here about the same problem for a couple of us. I haven't had any problems since then, but it was the same lag thing. My second thought then: Maybe since most others didn't experience a problem, it was something to do with the path, like a DNS server attack or glitch. This would only affect people routed by that DNS server. Would also explain why it looked like I got rerouted incorrectly. So like Ashal said, maybe try opendns, which is one I've used before, too. Â But my first thought back then is still my prime suspect. And when visiting with my other browser, IE as opposed to Firefox, I sometimes (happened twice) get a redirection to a false page claiming I have a virus and need to take their supplied action. This just happened, right during some serious lag time. Related? My first thought is that it's a shady ad provider. Â I found this person on Nexus saying something similar happened: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/592254-ads-serving-up-spyware-scams-seriously/ Â But if this is true, it's not really LL's fault in any way and probably something their ad service is aware of too and working to fix, probably involving dealing with a bad provider on their end. Â Question: Can the page be prevented from loading by an ad? On other sites or sometimes while viewing feeds, content is blocked until the ad server for an ad responds or at least will be paused for a pre-defined amount of time. If the answer is yes for LL, that's why I was thinking my Firefox adblock just gave me lag while IE actually redirected me to that questionable ad provider.

The speed is still the same, regardless of whether I am logged in our out. I will give the DNS a try, but my problem is this is the only page where it is happening.  I've also noticed the effect is cumulative - I close my browser, and re-open it, and LL is fast as lightning, but then, the longer I have it open, the slower it gets.  Yeah, I have been using Ad Block with Chrome. I'm going to see if the effect persists with different browers.  Thanks for the info.
thesapien Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 One thing I remember about OpenDNS is that I switched back to my ISP's default after thinking some sites, like YouTube, were slower. I can't say for sure, maybe it was subjective or just a coincidence of timing. Â Btw, me likes Chrome, too, and its introduction of sandbox browsing. Been using Firefox lately, but remember Chrome fondly. Hope this current problem isn't Chrome's fault. Â So have you tried yet with different browsers? I'd also try narrowing the problem down by disabling any plugins like Java or Flash and enabling them one at a time.
Ark of Truth Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 On I agree something is up with this site. It was working fine for me and now it's just grinding itself to a halt for no reason.
Mailamea Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 maybe ISP related. Never had any problems on loading LL.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Now I've been noticing it, not often, but on occasion I'll get a minute or so where the site loads slow.
