egon123 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 ...aka the world of light and dark. Hello everyone! Don't know how this fits here, but maybe somehow have some knowledge with this stuff! On my way to improve Skyrim stability, I decided to update my enbseries. I discovered, that I'm using the 0.113 version atm that is, well, "a bit" outdated Also I use the "Reallike ENB". Since it looks good without effecting my performance that much. However, this enb isn't created with the newest version. It was created with the 0.198 version, that you cant find in the archives. So I tried a) newest version and a version close to pre 0.198 but with the same result. The problem is: When I start in the prisoner cell, its waaaay to bright. So I adjusted this via the gammacurve. But in an outside cell, shadows are waaay to dark (even with standard gammacurve). Example: When a rooftop is casting a shadow, I need a torch to see what is hiding there. On a sunny day. On my way to Riverwood, 5PM, I needed a torch to see the fucking way. So, here are my questions : 1) Is there a good setting point outside of the gammacurve and brightness to let see things in the shadows better? 2) Does newer enbseries even provide a BIG stability performance? Because the first thing that happend was a ctd after 10m running Because, if it is just a slight improvement, I say "screw it" and stay with the old version.
spoonsinger Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 1) Is there a good setting point outside of the gammacurve and brightness to let see things in the shadows better? That's really subjective 2) Does newer enbseries even provide a BIG stability performance? I use 0.262 because it seems to do what I want. Later versions on my setup were a bit ummm. Earlier versions I really can't remember. I'm running with a Vividian setup - but it was way too green, so I'm also using a tweeked Sweetfx over the top of the ENB to make it more acceptable, (bit more red to the wood). However this is also probably subjective. (Yes I could tweek the ENB to do the same thing, but actually getting a base ENB I liked and then tweeking it via Sweetfx was actually less hassle).
egon123 Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 Yeah, sure most of it is subjective. Still, I would call it near unplayable when I need a torch to see what is next to a rock on a bright day because of that damn shadow. The thing is, with the old setup the game looks good, but is using an enbseries from the stone age. So the question for me is, is it worth try to fix this, or even end up with an "up to date" preset that maybe works better but eat up my performance for maybe 5% less ctd. Or is the stability gain much significant that it is basically a "must have". For example, I can't really run tpos with my old setup because near whiterun and especially Dawnstar I enter ctd-city
pinky6225 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Did you amend any settings in the skyrimPrefs like under [DISPLAY] fGamma=1.0000 Since while i had the opposite problem in that things were to dark so i had adjusted this up but then when i switched to a different ENB and after getting near blinded i quickly changed it back to the default of 1 and could see without the eye pain Checking the ENB site the most recent drivers are 0.292 so if you are updating it might be worth finding a ENB preset that uses that

Most important thing for me is, I get atm this "npc goes invisible because hdt armor" problem. I hoped that the new enbseries would fix this but then I entered the dark-zone (well indoors to bright, outside to dark)
