BruceWayne Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I have a problem where the columns in the dialog editor default to 0 width since I upgraded my system to Win10. They are resizable, so I can ultimately see what's in there, but it is very cumbersome to do this every time, since the column width in the dialog view resets after closing the window. Does anyone know how to fix this? Screenshot of the problem:
Loogie Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 There's no fix I found. You get used to resizing the columns eventually.
Guest Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I do... Being serious, I know for Windows 8.1 there was an update of windows which was responsible of that, but I doubt it's the same for 10
BruceWayne Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 That's not an option, since I upgraded (as in: threw out) from Vista. It always did right by me, but I don't want to go back either.
bjornk Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Aren't those stuff components of .NET framework? Might be related to the version you have? No idea what version comes with 10. What were the installed versions in your previous OS? Installing them might fix it.
BruceWayne Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 .NET framework is apparently a part of the OS now, so it doesn't need to be installed. Nor does it let me (because I already tried).
bjornk Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 You can't install 4.5.1 or an earlier version on Window 10? In that case you might try to replace individual files that control Windows Forms, but I doubt the OS would let you do that easily, and it's not worth the effort. Install a Vista VM and use GECK inside it, not very convenient, but looks like it's your only option.

I appreciate the help, but that's not even close to an acceptable solution for this kind of problem. Meanwhile I found this workaround on the Nexus, which does sort of work: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3112355-geck-all-columns-to-the-left-workaround-win881/ I also snooped around in GECKPrefs.ini and found out that, if I change the default position and dimensions of the quest window, it resets to default settings every time I reload the GECK.
Guest Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I found back the thread with the update for 8.1 they were talking about. But look a lil below, look at that "with Windows 10 it doesn't happen". Now that's confusing
Halstrom Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 At one stage it got fixed in a Windows 8.1 update but then a couple of updates later they broke it again. Apparently if you remove the correct update it will work again, I tried uninstalling 20 odd updates one by one with no luck.
