CNKTHoward Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hi y'all! I was looking around the internet recently to find some of the better mods for male characters. While I have a clear idea of what I want when creating a female character, I have no idea what is even available for male characters. What I do visually like though is the male character used in the KS Hairdos Hair showcase. What I do not like are mods that make male characters look (too) young... I'm more looking for something, well, intimidating looking... So what mods are important? I guess a combination of meshes (nude, preferably compatible with SexLab and 0Sex) + textures that fit nicely together would be a start. Anything else ("makeup", hair, beards etc. would be nice too, but I don't think there is a lot available in the first place) is appreciated too though!
malvekiar Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 SOS (Schlongs of Skyrim) is one nude option for males: https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/498-sos-schlongs-of-skyrim/ I think this texture still works with SOS even though it isn't supported anymore, I recall using it and being at least mildly pleased with the improvement: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26145/? There are a couple of beard mods around also on nexus. SAM (Shape Atlas for Men) seems to be the most customizable body replacement solution, but from my brief looking around on the source site (the name escapes me at the moment), there didn't seem to be a lot of support in the armor/clothing space for it. I may have missed it, but that was what I saw. Unfortunately a great deal of focus goes towards modding women far more than men. My preference is for beautiful women for a hopefully beautiful male character I play to have fun with, and I've been fairly disappointed by what's out there for my own character. A lot of the facial stuff is pretty easy to get, but options seem limited at best to racemenu bodymorphs for body shape (due to the armor/clothing availability).

Yes you are totally right, and up to this point I didn't find it bad either because I only played female characters, but you know, I wanted to try something "new", but it lacks the alternatives. Anyway you said there isn't much armor around - actually I would be fine if I had like a decent vanilla replacer, or 1-2 good looking custom armorsets. Anyway, I first wanted to focus on purely character specific mods, that make male characters actually half decent looking. I always had the feeling as if the available mods just create more less the same male characters. It's always those bulky guys, with extreme jawlines and full lips. If you look at female characters made by the community (I know that 99% of all character screenshots seem to be of female characters), there is so much diversity to be found... I kinda miss that with male characters.
malvekiar Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I've been just trying to take advantage of the bodymorphs in racemenu to try to create a more slender, wiry male character. Something not quite so Conan the Destroyer (specifically referencing the crappy sequel), but more Oberyn Martell. The thought of a 240lb behemoth being a sneaky in the shadows assassin, undetectable until he slices the throat of his enemy, then off to enjoy a heated evening of passion on moonsugar and skooma with 4 or 5 women at The Bannered Mare just doesn't feel quite right.

Here is a mod you can try. It is one of the few SoS variations out there. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58390/?
FauxFurry Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 You can find a lot more in the Male Content Call Out Thread.
CNKTHoward Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 You can find a lot more in the Male Content Call Out Thread. Well SAM f.e. is a dead link. I tried SoS, Smooth Male Body textures and the obvious hair/beard mods, but the results were ... meh.
GimmeBACON Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Hit or miss for you? I can offer mod advice, but, I'm not going to open my manager if you're not interested.
CNKTHoward Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Screenshot22591.png Hit or miss for you? I can offer mod advice, but, I'm not going to open my manager if you're not interested. It's about the right direction. What I'm aiming for is a more Geralt-y (witcher) body shape and face, and not the usual bodybuilder "I'll snap your bones with my fingers"-type of character.
GimmeBACON Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38301/? Good facial textures, not boyish. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36513/? I love these body textures, detailed muscles, slight neck seam issue. Brows, Beards, and eyes of beauty are obvious, sadly there isn't much regarding quality male textures out there.
lewd123 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 If you're that kind of person, you could do the traditional Devious Devices setup, but with Devious Devices for him on top of it, and combine it with Deviously Enchanted Chests instead of the oft-used Cursed Loot. There aren't really a ton of options for male characters. There's Bingles Buff Armors, which makes the basic armor types sleeveless, and a few modular armor sets by Hoamaii that might strike your fancy on the Nexus. (That same mod author also made my favorite player home ever.)
