HDT Stretching NPC then turning invisible

Although the mod is no longer on Nexus, the mod author left a download link, just highlight the link and paste it into your browser, it's a link to the mod on mediafire http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/77815/?

Good eye.  And I an understand why he took it down.  What I noted:

1) HDT-enabled bones still tended to be immediately stretched hundreds of feet from spawning NPCs as originally described, so whatever fix was attempted did not ultimately correct what I consider to be the instigator of the disappearing NPC issue.

2) I did not play with the mod enabled long enough to encounter a legitimately invisible NPC.  Those are rare in my case, anyway.

3) What the mod did seem to be doing, at the very least, was affecting distant spawning NPCs somehow, so it's clear something related to spawning was being attempted.  But the phenomenon I note here goes something like this: As I neared a Stormcloak encampment, all of the horses spawning in the distance would immediately begin taking off into the sky at about a 45 degree angle and perhaps 40mph, and sometimes returning similarly.

Resurrecting this.  I know it's not a hardware issue.  It's basically what Yatol said earlier in the thread: When the NPC appears, HDT immediately tries to sort out the placement of their butt and breast bones.  Best case scenario is you get a slight jiggle from both.  Occasionally, this attempt at equilibrium fails and you're left with bones that jiggle madly and ceaselessly.

In my game with my profile, any female NPC that spawns on the horizon has their appearance immediately given away by the fact that their body is hundreds of feet away from their breast / butt bones, resulting in a visible stretched polygon between the two locations.  Within about five seconds, HDT ultimately scoots the bones back to the NPC, taking the stretched bits with them, like some kind of Mr. Fantastic effect.  Sometimes the NPC ends up fading out during this multi-second process, and I've supposed that this is some sort of panic button built into the engine.  That's the worst case scenario.

So what seems to be going on is that spawning NPCs do a one-frame teleport the moment they appear, and HDT-enabled bones are left to try to sort out this physical impossibility.  I imagine one's XML profile affects how well this is handled, but obviously being forced to change breast physics based on something hypothetically irrelevant like that is an unacceptable compromise.

Does anyone have that beta fix that was referenced a here a few months back?  I would be able to gauge its efficacy pretty quick, simply from either the continued phenomenon of breasts stretched into poles on the horizon, or its cessation.

If you can't hit 60 flat no matter what's onscreen at a constant framerate this is going to happen. The fix covers invisibility via Havok dropping the thread, but does nothing for the thread or havok heap failing to keep up. The havok timing fix is close as you're going to get on that front, and again if you're below the expected threshold, it's going to occur whether you see it happening or not.

I was looking at this hdt fix file and wondering if i should give it a try. Stretching body to infinity and flapping butts has been a problem for as long as i can remeber, lol. Has there been any testing of this file?

what exactly is this plugin doing to fix the issue?  i noticed that when the companion should have gone invisible (i think, her tail spazzed the hell out) she instead unequipped everything she was wearing.  is that because of the plugin, or some weird bug in my game?

I noticed Grelka disappear, going invisible in front of my eyes when I entered Riften. Quiting and reloading she would always disappear. This was a perfect baseline for a test.

I removed all mods and loaded the save. Grelka would did not disappear. I would quit and activate a block of mods until Grelka started to disappear again. Then removing half the block of mods and restarting until I narrowed down which mod causing the issue.

After checking the entire modlist, only one mod was removed. “NPC Body Scale Randomizer 3.04“

So in this case this mod was causing NPC invisibility. Sad since it is a great mod, a mod I really want . NPCs that was invisible before stayed invisible. checking the NPC-BSR thread, this was a know issue with a fix to download. In this case the mod was bugging and setting the npcs size to 0.00
