stevihj Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I am just wondering how large a papyrus log should be if one installed everything correctly.... Mine is currently running between 200k to 800k depending on length of playtime. Thank you for looking and double thank you, thank you for any answer.
pinky6225 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 0 as it shouldn't be enabled as it effects performance Taking the time to write to your disk (even a shiny SSD+ disk) is much slower compared to it just executing scripts so unless you are having problems you think are script related its best to have it turned off as stuff like sexlab will run much quicker

If your papyrus is less than half a Mb after playing for some time, then you have a good setup (mods are not spamming too much info or errors.) Consider that while I am debugging and developing, my papyrus can go up to 5 Mb in just 10 minutes. (But I put tons of debug lines while developing.)

There is no such thing as "normal" size as it depends on how many mods and what kind of mods you got installed. Some mods put a lot of debug information into papyrus log (like SOS, Creature Framework or Devious Devices Integration in some cases) but as long as it's just debug info it doesn't mean that something is wrong with them. Would say a log that exceeds 1mb may indicate that you likely have some repeating errors going on. Much more than 1mb would indicate that you likely had dumping stacks at some point. Vanilla log with just sexlab and 1 or 2 mods (my testing machine) has like 50kb after half hour of play. And my record was 77 mb, probably packed full with dumping stacks from some broken mod - i didn't even try to open that as i knew which mod broke.

Crap, mine is really long, and I have some random crashes during certain scenes or while walking by certain towns. It seems like it runs to run off creature information when none of those creatures are even around. Should I just put off my logging then? Like the poster above you suggested? Does it really help? Sorry for crashing the topic by the way, I just felt like some of this applies to me...lately. >_>
Guest Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 @@Awkward Nymph if your log is so big, then you have two options: 1) remove the offending mod 2) Disable the logging (if it is too big it is useless) And, yes, as @aqqh stated: Creature Framework is super-spammy, and fills up quickly your papyrus log.
stevihj Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 Thank you everyone. That helps so much! *hugs*
