Dealing with a lot of mods

Hey guys,

There are like 50 Mods i want to use simultaniously and it just doesn't seem to work for me. I usually just reinstall NMM, Skyrim, SKSE when it starts to crash at every start...

I reinstalled it for like 20 times and it gets rly annoying.

I checked like every mod for compatibility and everything seems to be fine..but still...

The mods i want to use:

SKSE

SexLab Framework

FNIS Behavior

FNIS Creature Pack

FNIS Spells

Fuz Ro Doh

Non-SexLab Animations Pack

SexLab Aroused

SkyUI

SkyUI show armorslots

XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended

Zaz Animation Pack

BodySlide and Outfit Studio

CBBE

CHSBHC

Racemenu

Dangerous Nights

SexLab Dangerously Nude

SexLab Aroused Animations

SexLab Squirt Reborn

SpectatorCrowdsUltra

SexLab Position Selector

Creature Framework

BestialityAnimationPack

BestialityExtras

SexLab Creatureanimations

SexLab Nude Creatures

MoreNastyCritters

Beastess

I know it's a lot but it would be so nice of you to watch through this.

If you have a similar setup of mods with order and what to install, I'd really appreciate that as well.

I'm sitting here for like 2 days and I didn't really play more than 10 Minutes.

Note: Sometimes it works really well on most mods, then a small mod just gets my game into crashing, or I get errors like (old version number) even if it's the newest and stuff like that.

I also installed some Quest stuff like amorousAdventures and Dibella..but they seem to work without any problems.

Thanks in advance.

If you are adventurous I would recommend you drop NMM and use MO. It has more control over the files and allows you to see the files that are conflicting. See when you install many mods you have conflicts. In fact that is the very nature of modding a game. Most mods are expected to conflict or overwrite the files of the game. Some add and some replace. With MO you can see what is conflicted or replaced. If something should have a set of armors or body or skeleton etc and it isn't showing you can go into MO and check the conflicts of those mods. AS you learn the mods and their contents you can start to learn what is conflicting. Understanding conflicts is the first step to using mods as you add more and more. Only through understanding the structure and what is conflicting can you determine if those mods can be used together. .. eventually possibly even learning how to fix it so that they can be used together.

Wyre bash is useful .. or more precise has a very useful tool .. you can "bash' a mod load order.. which in results fixes many of the conflicts and makes the game more stable and possibly solve some of the minor issues you might have to using a selection of mods. However the above still applies. You HAVE TO have the mods in the order (file-wise) that is required to get the results you desire.

The results depend on your dedication and willingness to learn and delve eventually into the actual files of your favorite mods and be willing to make changes and learn how these changes will effect the game.

Check your papyrus log for errors, something may have caused an issue with a script and is the problem. The number of mods or NMM is not the ussue, I use NMM and have about 250 esp/esm's and 40+ MCM menu's with little issue.

I would also recommend you to use Mod Organizer.

when i used NMM I got many CTDs because of a wrong loadorder and since I use MO I can see what conflicts and can solve it most times with ease. Now I'm also running a setup of 225 esm/esp's.

I would recommend AGAINST using MO. I strongly believe MO is for more advanced users who can trouble shoot for themselves. This is because of the slightly more complicated way MO installs and runs mods (which imo doesn't work well for script heavy and larger mods).

I've run 300+ mods on NMM fine, you just need to figure out load orders, dependencies and how to skim through and find the issue.

While MO does tell you about missing masters, if you check the description of the mod in NMM it will tell you what masters it requires. Crashing on start up is almost always a missing master.

Check out if MO is easy or hard for yourself.

Ashal himself which created Sexlab advises to use MO. Use what you want. The key is understanding the records and files and what is overwriting each file.

Never had a single problem with script heavy mods or large mods and had just as many mods installed as most here. When I did.. I see the little icon that shows a conflict.. check the conflict.. and then understand what the problem is ;). Simple. If I don't understand the file I post.. It is that simple. I get the answer (last time was the paperus file was out of date between SOS and Sexlab). A few minutes later.. I was up and running. No mess no fuss.

NMM is another program which many use and really is just fine to use and should work well as any other mod manager if you understand its limits and understand the process. Never had a problem with that or FOMM (for Fallout) or even OBBM when I used it. They all worked just fine.

Thanks for all the help. I didn't expect the community to be this active (Y)

I went with MO and NEAAARLY everything works fine for me.

I only have 1 problem with Nasty Critters. It overwrites CreatureFramework, BestialityExtras and Nude Creatures and he says that these mods aren't necessary, but if I turn them off, I don't see any nude creatures, even tho it's says that it works in Mod configurator.

If I decide to leave the mods on, it doesn't change anything at all.

The Creator of More Nasty Critters suggested a Loadorder, but the game crashes when I try it out. MO shows no other conflict then redundancy on these 3 mods because of Nasty Critters.

I tried beastess and SL Defeat to interact with animals. but it doesn't work at all ("you cant surrender to this enemy" or just nothing happening when i use mating call).

Maybe someone has an idea.

Thanks again guise

You are taking small steps, you've barely started modding if you only have 50 mods. I have 547 mods in MO right now (not all active at once).

One HUGE advantage (it's not the only advantage) MO brings is the ability to install a new version of a mod under a different name (add the version number to the name) so you can try a new version of a mod and revert with ease should it mess up your game (you DO have to keep a save from before the new version was installed). Reverting using MO is always complete, no strange problems cropping up later because a file or two got missed.

Of course part of that 547 mods is the fact that I have multiple profiles with different sets (and versions) of mods active. I also create mods from the "Overwrite" folder when I run Wrye Bash, FNIS or DYNDOLOD for the first time in a new profile so I can have profile specific outputs from those mods.

Might be some settings in the MCM menu. I would check with the main MO thread and perhaps the various threads for these mods. I am sure there is something simple that was missed. I don't have those mods installed so I don't know the answer. However it appears that you have the basics and understanding of MO.

I focused so heavily on installing the mods and getting them into the right oder etc. that I totally forgot like all ingame settings.

Everything works pretty good for me now :) MO is just great, even tho I don't really know much about modding.

I'm more than satisfied with the results.

Thanks again all of you <3

Mo is a bit more complex to a point however if a new person is willing to learn.. it gives many tools and tricks that can help the newer user of mods avoid many issues and quickly resolve any issues that do arise. There is an unofficial MO thread here on LL . If you have MO issues or configuration etc post there because there is a very active MO user group there that can help quickly solve many MO related problems.
