Help a newbie.

Alright, so I just recently got skyrim for PC, played the shit out of it on console. But I want to expand on it.
Only thing is, I haven't a clue what I am doing or where to start. I have read the various guides, and for the most part I've come to the conclusion that I need  mod manager and so on. But really, I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a sort of 'download' path I could use. I plan on playing some Sexlab stuff and added content.  So, if anyone's got the patience, care to help me out here?

I have tried to read a few guides, but ended up a tad bit more confused in regards to somethings than when I started, so forgive me
if my request for help seems...moronic.

Start by following the guide step by step.

Then when you will familiarize with mods, how to install them, etc.

Start again to follow the type of gameplay you will prefer.

Feel free to post on this forum for any type of problem you may have (if you just started for sure you will have a bunch of questions.)

Hello. Follow Anatriax's Guide to an Immersive Skyrim, it is a really good guide to start.

Most people will point you to this as it's quite the guide. Anatriax worked really hard on this and keeps it updated. Until you really grasp about mods and modding this is the place to start. If you don't want to use MO and use NMM Elf Prince has made a wonderful guide for the newest version

So I tried to follow that link, but it simply leads back to this forum. And searches didn't turn up any forums named as such as of yet.

Looks like CPU copy the wrong link. Here you go.

cheers.

Yes. Sorry.

For some reasons I put the link of this thread and not the intended Antriax's guide.

I just updated the link.

Already ran into my first problem, can't seem to open up the 7z file for skse in the appropriate manner. I seem to have made the mistake of trying to use Mod Organizer to open it. Ended up with an error code.   :x

SKSE is usually better installed by hand.

Download the installer version, and then do the basic install in the Skyrim directory.

If you will do mods later, then grab the 7zip version and place the PSC and PEX files in scripts\source\ and scripts\ respectively.

Did that, but it doesn't show up in the directory now where I installed it, how do I get Mod Manager to recognize it?  x-x

Anatriax has got me a bit confused on where I am suppose to put LOOT now. Am I suppose to put it where the Steamapps folder is? Or What. I installed it where I thought he meant, and it seems to have failed there. I used the installer.

Don't care now about LOOT.

It is useful when you start having dozen of mods.

Do your install step by step.

Set SKSE, install Mod Organizer, install a few mods (just a few), and try if everything works.

Then do the other steps.

There is a huge amount of knowledge to master everything for Skyrim + <all possible items you want>, so just take your time.

Fuck this is a lot of stuff. This is easily a day long process, especially with all the editing needed apparently. Are all of these downloads really so buggy/conflict riddled?

Going to be completely frank. Probably going to need a mentor with all the steps and stuff that Anatriax's guide has to it. It's pretty overwhelming.   x-x

You mean you going to need a step by step guide for the step by step guide? XD

No, but I am concerned that I'm going to extract or place the files in the wrong places. I did that earlier when I extracted my SKSE and put it next to the steamapps. Where it didn't do anything.  -.-

There won't be much extracting to do fortunately. Once the basics (SKSE really) are manually installed into the Skyrim root directory the rest will be installed into Mod Organizer. They don't need to be unzipped, MO will eat them up as archives.

Go to YouTube and search for Skyrim modding videos by Gopher. He will teach you the basics so you get a solid grasp to get started. His style is perfect for beginners.

Cool, thank you. This is the kind of informative and helpful kind of interaction that is great.  :]

But yeah, some of the things that has me anxious/nervous is potential problems that would require TES5 editing/cleaning or what not.

Because Anatriax mentions a few times needing programs like LOOT or TES5 or what not to clean up scripting or something. Last thing I want to do is accidentally delete a line or dash of text that turns out to be important. Yeah know?

One final question before I head to bed for the night. For additional Sexlab mods, where do I place the folders/extracts and such? Since my Mod Manager doesn't seem to recognize the downloads from Loverslab as mods they all end up in my downloads folder. So my question is, where do I put them all? Anatriax has nothing on where I put them? If someone could answer this question I'd greatly appreciate it.

Download them where you want. Then use the top/left icon of MO to browse the zip file, and start to install it.

Yep, it's a chore. With some of us it's actually a couple of days to get everything back in order if we need to do a fresh install. Unfortunately, it's also trial and error.
