4MFT Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Hi all-- Just wondered if anyone has an issue with the PowderGangers Tryout plugin causing issues? Issues as in: will not load with this file installed and activated, even if the only content other than official DLCs is Sexout, SCR and Tryouts. The game doesn't even load, just crashes right from the launcher. Otherwise, everything is perfect-- animations play etc. Add Powder Gangers and instant crash from the get-go which does not change until that file is deactivated. Any ideas? And I apologize in advance if this has been covered, but I did look and was unable to find an answer. I had the common "won't run animations" issue and read many, many pages here before figuring it out, so I am not normally a "do my thinking for me" of person, but I am truly puzzled. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have all of those in that order?

I will not be surprised to hear if I have done something less than brilliant, like missed an essential file completely--I am not a natural with computers. That said, I find the whole mod "house of cards" thing really fascinating and my hubby thinks it's a riot that I have spent more than 60 hours "playing" and have barely left Goodsprings yet between all my crashings, rebootings, un and reinstalls. Guest Loogie Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 SexoutSlavery should be above SexoutLegion, but I doubt that's causing a crash. I'd also recommend not using SexoutNotify, but that shouldn't crash things either.

I'd also recommend not using SexoutNotify, but that shouldn't crash things either. [/quote'] I am confused as well--is there something obvious I could be missing that I did not do? That load order always works if I just deactivate the single Powder Ganger esp and then I can even pile other Sexout files on it and have no problems until I reach Slavery Adventures. I figured I could play with Slavery Adventures later to see if it was conflicting with any of the others, so that didn't phase me, but I thought it was weird that one of the central Tryout files would always crash the game on startup.

Guest Loogie Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Deactivating should be fine. Notify is really a debugging tool for modders, and on rare occasions will make a Sexout call go full retard and disrupt gameplay, so I don't recommend it for players.

[/quote'] And if it helps your diagnosis, it crashes even with Sexout Slavery removed. Then is happy to start right up as soon as PG is deactivated. Hope that helps. While I have your attention, might I also ask if I, as a player only, need the ZAZ files or are those really only needed for modders as well?
Guest Loogie Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 No no no. Deactivate SexoutNotify. You absolutely need SexoutSlavery and it has to be above SexoutLegion.
4MFT Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 No no no. Deactivate SexoutNotify. You absolutely need SexoutSlavery and it has to be above SexoutLegion. Changed SexoutSlavery to be above SexoutLegion, enabled SexoutPowderGangers and it crashed. Disabled it, and the game started right up. And not to be too moronic, but is the "no, no, no," to the ZAZ files, as in "tools for modders, do not touch?"
Guest Loogie Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 The only thing I told you not to use is SexoutNotify. But on the topic of ZAZ stuff, you don't have the ZAZ esp, which you need as well.

brocules Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Have you tried redownloading the esp? Also try running FVNEdit and see if it says anything useful when it presumably stops loading at SexoutPowdergangers.esp
4MFT Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 Have you tried redownloading the esp? Also try running FVNEdit and see if it says anything useful when it presumably stops loading at SexoutPowdergangers.esp Yep, redownloading and install have no effect: still crashes as long as SexoutPowederGangers is enabled. I am unfamiliar with FVNEdit, so will have to look into it and see what I can figure out. I'm an Xbox girl, so this is both confusing and great fun (it's like a whole new game!!) for me.
Halstrom Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Try the Verify Game Cache thing in Steam Library too, it seems to always find 1 file, even when everythings good, but it has sorted other issues quite a few times for me. When you get it working do a steam Backup thing too, will save you a lot of download time when everything gets screwed, which is nearly a guarantee at some point once you start modding and using non-vanilla plugins.

[/quote'] Thank you for the suggestion. I did the Verify Game Cache and reacquired one file (why? where did it go? was it just bored, or does it dislike me personally?? ), but it didn't do anything--the game still crashed when I enabled the SexoutPowderGangers file again. It's totally personal now....
zippy57 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Did you try to see if FNVEdit shows an error message?
windsongbard Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I am not sure what he is getting but I am having the same problem. Here is the error I get from FNVEdit: Background Loader: Fatal: I am not sure why it is not loading FalloutNV first but I will play around with it a bit. Okay I am now using FOMM and the loadout is: FalloutNV.esm sexout.esm sexoutcommonresources.esm sexoutslavery.esm sexoutlegion.esm Sexoutpowdergangers.esp In other words just a bare bones launch without any of the DLC. Although it looks like I may be getting something weird in the FNVEdit but I am not sure. It is telling me that: [00:02] Background Loader: [Fallout - Textures.bsa] Skipped. [00:02] Background Loader: [Fallout - Textures2.bsa] Skipped. [00:02] Background Loader: [Fallout - Meshes.bsa] Skipped. [00:02] Background Loader: [Fallout - Voices1.bsa] Skipped. [00:02] Background Loader: [Fallout - Sound.bsa] Skipped. [00:02] Background Loader: [Fallout - Misc.bsa] Skipped. Other than that I seem to be getting no errors when using FNVEdit. At any rate I will play around with this some more tomorrow. The Windsong Bard
sen4mi Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Using FOMM, can you export your load order to a file and then import that file? If the problem still occurs, can you check the file permissions on FalloutNV.esm? If they are busted you might need to reinstall fallout (because whatever is wrong with them might be wrong with everything else, also). But you should not worry about those bsa messages, all FOMM does for me, on bsa files, is skip them.

Did you get a missing master error and then set your load order as it is in your post, or did you get a missing master error with that load order? Anyway if you had that load order when you got the error and no other mods were loaded, something might be fucked, somewhere. I'd probably re-install or recover a backup if you had one, often times its far less time consuming than trying to fix your installation if it has actually committed suicide, and its not just a simple load order issue.
Guest Loogie Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I am not sure what he is getting but I am having the same problem. Here is the error I get from FNVEdit: Background Loader: Fatal: Then ur doing it rong. Things in FNVEdit need to follow the correct load order or FNVEdit will not load. Okay, here's an important question and a "moment of truth" type thing - 4MFT and Windsongbard, are you two using fully patched legal copies of the game? It's the only thing that hasn't been asked so far.

I was lost on a lot of the details of programs and files, I confess, but one thing I am clear on: this is a FULLY legal version of the Ultimate Edition, purchased on Amazon a few weeks ago. It's been installed, uninstalled and reinstalled more the once and is not even in the initial program files anymore (I moved it to another location on the computer at one point to see if that was an issue--seemed not to matter--does it?). I have reinstalled everything I can think of that might be an issue (FOMM, GECK, all files) except Windows itself and still it hates the SexoutPowderGanger file. I will try to figure out more and see what's up, but I admit that it may take a while as I have some pretty big knowledge gaps here in comparison to, well, pretty much everyone else. Sometimes it sounds like a foreign language to me, which may be a big part of many issues. But thanks to everyone puzzling this out and hopefully I'll get it together at some point.
