Bounty228 Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Anyone else ever save their game, exit out of Skyrim then either instantly go back in(or later on) to have skyrim crash on all of your saves for no apparent reason? I swear, my Skyrim can be vanilla and it will constantly crash like that. Loading Saved game titled "Helgen Exit" 10 times with each try crashing in the middle of loading then for whatever reason the 11th it will be like "Oh, alright. I'm done fucking with you, go ahead and play." *I walk over to a door; CRASH* "SIKE! Try another 10 times and then I will let you through said door." Seriously, really frustrating.
Jeffrey Lane Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 yea, this has happened too me alot lately, especially the save part.
wulfgear09 Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 I have this as well to get around it I keep my alternate start saves in the prison and load those, then you are able to load anything usually.
Advint Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 You should always have a save which is in an underpopulated area to return to in these instances. However if you have not done so already boost your memory usage through the skse method of doing so. It should reduce your issue with loading considerably, unless its a specific mod causing the issue.
CrimsonOmegaLance Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Autosave Manager helps. this was actually causing me to crash when it attempted autosaves. Though I'm not sure if it was the mod itself or my script overloading that did it in.
GrimReaper Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Make a save in a cell that has nobody else in it (the prison cell in alternate start or the aethersuite are good places for that), load that first and then load the game you want to load. Crashing during gameplay happens with a heavily modded game sadly, but you shouldn't experience it that often. If you do, there's always something you can do to fix that.

Thankfully I always save before I leave the prison. And I see what you're saying. Give the game a chance to load bulk information while in the cell.

If you're using XPMSE 3 regularly, do note that saving a game takes a bit longer because the SKSE data is also being saved.
NickNozownik Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 I manually installed over 200 mods and it's OK. But yeah, sometimes it crashes for no good reason. Heavily modded and vanilla. It crashes once during or right after the loading screen and then (using the same save file) it's working just fine. Saving in small areas with little to no NPCs, outside of combat and nowhere near the exterior of Shitrun or Crapwood reduces the risk of CTD. Scripts that are constantly attached to player can also cause crashes, even if they're coming from lightweight mods. Like Action Combat.
Yashen Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 yea i really dont like it either, this happened to me a lot
Gagoloth Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Unfortunately this comes with the territory when modding. Iv actually found smashing ` (Tilde) the console key right before the game loads can actually lets me load saved games that normally won't load.
Ashra XIII Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I too get really frustrated with how Skyrim will crash for no good reason, especially on loads. I really wish I had some clue as to why it happens... I mean, it's not even like the load just took forever and "times out" or something... I'll start loading and like a few seconds in, boom desktop. I can play for hours and hours without a crash, save and then be unable to load that save again, even with using the trick of loading in a safe place. Worst of all, Papyrus logs almost never tell me anything! There's never any errors happening around the time of a crash that would clue me in as to what I could do. Honestly, if Skyrim (with mods) wasn't such an amazing game, I would have given up a loooong time ago.
