DocClox Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 I found something strange and wonderful while idly clicking Skyrim links this morning. Once of those deeply weird j-mods that probably make perfect sense from the right cultural perspective. I mean look at this: I love the twin uzis! I just can't get past that cat. I should also add that I've not loaded this, nor do I intend to load it. I just find myself in awe of the thing for some reason.
Kendo 2 Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Okay, that's just very Japanese and very weird.
Vioxsis Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 You guys seriously never played monster hunter? Its a brilliant game. Hell, its the reason i found and joined LL, its even the reason i learnt how to mod.
DocClox Posted August 15, 2015 Author Posted August 15, 2015 I can honestly say I never even heard of it before today. Um... so what's it actually about?
Vioxsis Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Its about beating the crap out of giant things with over sized weapons, and then harvesting parts to make new gear. Its the mechanics that make it good though, with no lock on and not being able to see enemy health bars, to timing attacks and when to dodge/block, or when to use items. And even before going out on a hunt you will need to make decisions on your load out and what items to take with you, all of which the game will never hold your hand for. If you start a mission and don't have what you need to complete it you won't get a warning telling you your doing it wrong nor will it stop you. In monster hunter if you want something you need to put some effort in to it, whether that is learning to use weapons or items, or if its reading up on monsters to get hints at what items/strategies to use against them.
DocClox Posted August 16, 2015 Author Posted August 16, 2015 I'm starting to wonder now if the link I found was for a Skyrim mod or a standalone game. I might have to download the damn thing and find out.
NNS10 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I'm starting to wonder now if the link I found was for a Skyrim mod or a standalone game. I might have to download the damn thing and find out. When I first saw your post I thought "what's this have to do with Skyrim?" Based on the meshes and lighting, I don't think that's Skyrim.
DocClox Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 I wondered to begin with. The dragon in the background persuaded it me it was - possibly with some outfits recycled from oblivion mods. Now I'm not so sure. [edit] I should add that, looking at some of the other screenies on the site, if it isn't a Skyrim mod, they are definitely using Skyrim assets. Look at the torches for instance, Or the packing crates in some shots. I might end downloading this thing yet...
