squall1151 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Hello so I just got windows 10 last night. a few days ago I modded skryim in the end 1 file messed it all up so I started again. then last night I downloaded windows 10 (not too bad btw ish..) so I then reinstalled skyrim (no mods) have all my mods from the last time in a folder ready. but when I installed skyrim it started on the lowest setting and windowed mode. it did the thing for the 1st time set up ect. said these are your setting. but when I went to start the game it didn't make the skyrim folder in my games/skyrim. it never makes the ini files. or the skyrimprefs. and every time I load up skyrim to try and make the game make the folder ect. it never does and just forgets to make them. I even played the game got to a save point saved the game and it didn't even save it. it didn't even make the skyrim folder.  any ideas? I know windows 10 has just come out but surly it cant do this?
akimaruto Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 hummm    can you try to launch skyrim in admin mode ?  you're graphic card driver is up to date ?
squall1151 Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 hummm    can you try to launch skyrim in admin mode ?  you're graphic card driver is up to date ?  yes my graphics card is up to date. sort of i tried on the steam launch option -admin. im not sure it that was it though. but i also tried right clicking the shortcut but no admin option was there. and neither worked

Serithi Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I've never had a problem with Skyrim on W10, and i've been using it since the Insider Edition.
EvilReFlex Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Updatet to win10 today and all games and programs are working fine.Â
squall1151 Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 hmmm must just me be then thanks for every ones help if any one has suggesions let know please cheers.
gvman3670 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 You shouldn't have even needed to reinstall Skyrim for that matter.
RebelInfernal Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 You shouldn't have even needed to reinstall Skyrim for that matter. So Windows 10 leaves games installed as they were? That's a relief.
gvman3670 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Yup. So far ALL my games (even Halo2 for Vista and SWBF2) are working fine and none needed to be reinstalled.
ashnurazg2 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Skyrim works fine ... Fallout 3 have some problems like on Win7 or Win8.
squall1151 Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 iv been trying diffrenet thing in the last few days and every time its the same problem. I'm realy starting to think it is windows 10. I have even reinstalled steam and skyrim on many times and the problem is still the same. can some one do me a favour and post there my games/skyrim folder. with all no need for saves though if I can create it manual maybe it will use them propery.
Darkwisdom Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I've had absolutely zero problems playing skyrim on windows 10.  It is something on your end, not the OS. Reinstall your drivers, skyrim or mods.Â
gvman3670 Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 If it's a lack of folders holding you up then just make those folders yourself. It should use them (it would with earlier Windows versions).
squall1151 Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 i tired maing the skyrim folder and the saves folder inside but i did nothing and forgot again
Jeffrey Lane Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Skyrim works fine ... Fallout 3 have some problems like on Win7 or Win8. Â fallout 3 works fine on win 10 too, full reinstall of it yesterday, and have had barely any issues with it. (2 crashes so far.. which is a huge improvement over before)
gvman3670 Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I don't use or have a my games folder anymore...I use Mod Organizer and it keeps local saves. However, the first time I fired MO up it didn't run. I have to run it as administrator once then it's been fine ever since.
squall1151 Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 I have tried different mod mangers and since skyrim had no ini files or my games/skyrim folder it wouldn't work without it. even if I do try and run as admin. so the update is I was able to find some saves of my old skyrim play thoughs no prefs or ini's tough. and I manual made the folders my games/skyrim/saves played the saves, run skyrim the saves were there loaded up a save. and tried to do a new save. and it did nothing. I then exited skyrim loaded it back up and it still never made the ini or the prefs. so in the last 8 hours I have started doing a complete recovery and will be downgrading to windows 8.1. SO MANY BACK UPS! lol  thanks every one for your help if there is any more news of this kind of problem please post it here thanks every one. I hope no one else has this problem its so weird.
gvman3670 Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 After making the folders manually did you run the vanilla Skyrim launcher?
tarl7 Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Windows 10 is still very buggy, the smart thing to do is wait for a while for them to get alot of the major bugs out, most techs are saying wait 6 weeks or so.

I don't understand this. Any bugs people are experiencing are hardly bad enough to boycott the os until it's fixed. They're a couple of bugs, nothing bad. I've not had one single problem playing any game on my system since upgrading.Â
tarl7 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Do what you want, but everyone with any tech savy knows to wait for a while when a windows release first comes out.
gvman3670 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 This Windows release is NOTHING like any previous versions. For starters, it's been tested for a year on millions of different machines already. And it's not that different than the last couple versions either.
Silver Wolf Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Skyrim, New vegas (TTW), GTA5, Farcy 3, Dark Souls 2, Dishonored, etc... everything is working fine for me The only problem is Dota 2 sometimes cause intel display driver failure (may laptop has intel HD 4600 and Geforce 840M)
gvman3670 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Skyrim, FONV, Oblivion, Prince of Persia WW, Star Wars Battlefront II, and Halo 2 for Vista are all working perfectly for me. They never even needed reinstalled, they were still in place and functioning after the W10 upgrade.
