Because Dennis DeYoung went off the rails and started (the words escape me at the present) trying to "Woo" the crowd, extending and changing the way the songs were supposed to be as a self glorification event.

He sounded terrible to the point of.... STYX Sucks forever.      :astonished:

How do I know??

I was there.

What a waste of money that was.

Hmmmm.....  I guess it depends on when you started listening to Styx.    First for any interested, here is a summary of what happened (interview)

Now more to @Caveman 74, were you a fan back with Curulewski (an example of that Styx is below).  Oh and JY (James Young) really loved this music.

However, I started listening when Paradise Theater, and loved Kilroy was here, which is more Dennis's preference for operatic music.

As you may be able to tell, I have all their albums prior to 1999 (or my brother), and have seen them in concert a number of times.  Have you listened to them recently?  They dropped Dennis's influence to go back to JY's style  of music (imo).    Not saying you are wrong, just found your reasoning very interesting and completely understandable because you opinion is shared with many 70s era Styx fans.
