This thread is so dead today it gave me the Blues!

Blame it on YT. Their back to their old tricks of blocking random vids if you are intelligent and follow the FBI's advice to use an adblocker.

And no, those aren't much better. But that's just my opinion.

Sorry, I don't listen to much EDM. I posted an Aphex Twin song back there, but he's pretty well known. Usually industrial is as electronic as I get. Here's some noise rock for you, though.

I blame it on the rain. No need to worry, Milli Vanilli is not lurking under the spoiler.

I remember them. Mostly because of that 'concert controversy' they had that basically killed their music career.

Still I was talking more about this:

It really makes me wish we could just go back to a time when everything was a lot simpler. A time when music like this was created:

My comment had nothing to do with what you were talking about. I was simply making a joking comment about the phrase "blame it on the rain" and "Milli Vanilli."

That guy blathering on for 14 minutes about whatever pointless bullshit has stuck in his craw is not what I call scintillating. I'm not criticizing you, I'm criticizing him for being boring.

One man's 'boring', is another man's 'interesting'.

Or in other words: To each his own.

Still, that joke was lost on me.

We still live in that time.

I more meant the 'overall time'. Like the days of the internet when censorship wasn't running rampant, silently deleting comments, banning people for the stupidest crap. I mean you can't even say the word 'bridge' on YT now. How far are they willing to take this? Outlaw the entire English language?

Well I can't see if it's the right video because "adblockers violate Youtube's TOS", but the title is correct, so I'm guessing it's the right one. It's 'Dj Mad Dog & Amnesys - Game over'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rwzLuSFwZs

And LL seemingly can't embed it either. So hopefully that link works. Goddamn YT and their bullshit!

That link worked for me. I may or may not have broken out into a gabber dance. I can't say for sure, I think I blacked out there.

I mean, I know where you're coming from with that, but a company like Google or Facebook could not care less about what we say or think, no matter what they say. They care about their shareholders and that the company's growth never slows. The root of the problem was when we stopped enforcing antitrust laws, 40 years ago. When all the theatre companies consolidated in the 90s, we stopped being allowed to see NC-17 films. Why? Because the three theatre chains that remained made a risk analysis and found that allowing NC-17 films hurt their family-friendly image, and would lower foot traffic. When all the radio companies consolidated in the late 90s/early 2000s, we stopped hearing local or non-mainstream music, and we started getting "How You Remind Me" every hour on the hour on every station, every day, for 1.5 years. It's not really a question of when the internet was more free so much as when the internet was less consolidated. If there are no competing services then people have no choice but use you, and deal with whatever you decide to do. Plus every 5 years there's another campaign to eliminate net neutrality. Eventually they'll catch us slipping.

This is just my opinion, mine and only mine.

Hello: I have been pondering the smallness of the World, with six degrees of separation (see insert *1) it is a small place, throw in the Internet and instantly smaller yet.

I have noticed an increase of Hostility over differing points of view here on the lab. It seems to fluctuate with rhythm just like a song or the human body, regardless I have had my share of other users telling me I was wrong that x really means y and I am wrong for thinking it x in the first place.

If you can express your opinion fine, If I express mine not fine. What makes us so quick to tell another how to think, how to act, how to be?

I will not be Homogenized so easily or needlessly.

Society is becoming less and less Social and it shows immensely on any Forum, Chat platform, In real life.

When was the last time someone actually looked you in the eye, spoke, smiled, or was interacting with you on a Human level?  (see insert *2)

So quickly we forget that the typeset being generated from another user actually is a Human Being with complex thoughts feelings and behaviors unique to themselves. They are not some bot to be manipulated, argued with, threatened, humiliated, taunted, or otherwise treated.

They and their values, opinions, thoughts, feelings are integral to that which makes the world a unique and interesting place to live.

We, and I say We as I have my own demons, downfalls, pitfalls to deal with, should all strive every day to try to make the World a more Harmonious place to be, yes that includes the environment here on the Lab.

While no one enjoys hearing even the slightest bit of Criticism this needs serious thought and Consideration.

I wish to thank you all for reading this with the hope we all treat each other better not worse especially here where we have a place to express ourselves whether that is in thoughts as text, mods, threads we all use, music whatever.

Don't we get enough shit from the World outside our doors, why bring that here.

Disclaimer - this is just my opinion, it is only my opinion, I do not want anyone to change anything about themselves unless voluntary, and a Positive outcome.

Insert *1 -

The concept of 6 degrees of separation refers to the idea that any two people on Earth are connected to each other through a chain of no more than six intermediate acquaintances. This concept was popularized by the 1993 film “Six Degrees of Separation” and has since been widely discussed and debated.

The idea is based on the idea that each person knows, on average, about 150 people, and that these people in turn know other people, and so on. This creates a vast network of connections between individuals, with each person being connected to others through a chain of acquaintances.

The perception that society is becoming less social is a topic of ongoing debate. On one hand, advancements in technology have allowed for new forms of social interaction, such as social media, online communities, and virtual gatherings. However, some argue that these developments have led to a decrease in face-to-face interactions and a sense of disconnectedness. It's important to consider that different generations and communities may have varying experiences with social interaction. Overall, the impact of technology on social behavior is a complex and evolving issue.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I have been a member here for over 10 years, and have not noticed a difference. The only thing different from my perspective is that I started posting in this thread. Did I change its tone? It's worth keeping in mind that english is a second language for a lot of people, so the nuance in what was said is often missed, or something is said in a way that has implications the speaker didn't realize it had. Other than that, if you don't want to argue your opinion then don't do it. I like arguing, and on an abstract level, I feel very strongly that conversation between people who disagree is how you reach an understanding. But I know many people don't like it. I'm arguing with you right now. Should I not have responded?

No, but you could stab them with a knife.

Yeah, I did that whole Erik Satie thing. I'll keep on the Donna Summer thing for a bit.

I love arguing, and I love music, and definitely music that is totally new to me.

Oooo, not Donna Summer.
