CPU Intensive Settings ?

I was wondering which are the most cpu demanding settings in skyrim ? I want to actually LOWER them....Also, are there some ini tweaks that could LOWER CPU usage? My gpu is pretty good, an GTX 660.....but my cpu is pretty bad ,Celeron g530 (I know....don't bother to tell me :D)... So are there any tweaks/settings that would lower cpu usage? Thanks...

Actually they are both quite weak :P

I disagree. I play at 1280x1024 and gpu usage never gets past 50% So actually i would like to hear some graphics(not cpu) impacting tweaks also....Well I actually have textures on Medium...I dont know why setting textures on high kills my cpu...I thought that it would have to do with gpu ,not cpu...So..any cpu-perfornance tweaks ?

LODs?

High quality meshes mods? SMIM ? Havok physics? More NPCs in X area mods? Flora ?

You can try to lower Ugrids to 3, at default its set at 5 I think. But its very risky and may break game.

Their both kind of interrelated....

That being said, things like Anisotropic Filtering, AA settings are some settings that have minimal impact on cpu usage and depend mostly on your gpu's performance.

(Pretty much anything you find on your graphics card's driver settings for the application are the only things that have virtually no impact on the cpu usage in-game)

Aren't shadows rendered by gpu if set to the high q? When they are on low cpu takes care of them instead.

Shadows are rendered by the GPU nonetheless, it's a common misconception. :P

Nah, it's just how the API works, DirectX calls are passed through the CPU, giving the GPU the information it needs. And the more shadows the game needs to render, the more batches are passed through the CPU, and Skyrim's engine being what it is (shit), it pushes the API to its limits. This is why you want to reduce shadows distance in priority, not only because shadows will look better, but also because it means less work for the CPU (then GPU power and VRAM will be the limiting factors). Of course it's my simplified version of how it works because I don't want to be too technical and boring.

At least with DX11 and its multi-threaded support things would have been better but you know the story: Todd Howard gave us the finger instead.

it's because of that skyrim "tweaks" are very risky and may break game

some that are saying do this or that have no idea what they are talking about

50% gpu usage mean he would have twice more fps without the cpu bottleneck

a problem i was never able to get rid of

x2HI1DG.jpg

z1IodaR.jpg

that enb screenshot is too bright, crappy steam screenshot is closer to how it look (but no fps on that one)

bnsz8V2.jpg

but i have more fps and it drop less than before with more things

when i tried texture optimiser, it resized some textures, 2000*1500, 6000*4096, things like that

those were showing up in game (but not in nifskope), maybe the game was resizing them everytime it was loading them

if that's the case, waste of cpu power

it add some mipmaps to some textures too, waste of cpu power if the game was adding that to them too

compressed bsa mean less transfers between harddrive and ram, if your harddrive can't follow it reduce stutter (cpu waiting for the files to get in the ram, the game freeze)

if your harddrive can follow it's just a waste of cpu power to decompress those files in the ram

mo can help your harddrive (steam on harddrive 1, mo on harddrive 2)

when i was messing with ini, shadows, lods, lights and speculars had a bigger performance impact than the rest (cpu or gpu, have no idea)

I found a tool called Fxaa tool ...I use it instead of the fxaa and AA selectable in the launcher...It does wonders. I also use an automated ram cleaner(clears the cached ram memory automatically) Now the game runs on High textures also. Iforgot to mention that I currently have only 2 Gb of ram...I had 4, but one Ram slot is gone....But i still can use high textures, since I have the FXAA tool and automated ram cleaner....
